Damaged sight, poor quality optics
I was incapacitated from working full-time for months due to eye strain and reduced vision from bad quality CrossEyes glasses.
The staff is friendly, the frames are pretty, and they offer low prices, but the catch is the optics quality.
VISION PROBLEMS
After a month of wearing my CrossEyes glasses, I started to feel strong eye strain. I have never experienced such problems with other glasses.
My vision also suddenly became weaker than before starting to wear CrossEyes.
At first, I didn't worry as I was assured it may take time to get used to. But soon I wasn´t able to work a full day as my eyes would feel so strained, I would get light head pain and a little bit of nausea. I had to leave work early hoping to rest my eyes which would not help. I would also wake up with a heavy feeling in the back of my eyes. They were getting more and more tired.
I went to my first eye doctor to make sure this is temporary. He told me that my inner eye looks healthy and that I need to sort it out with the optic shop.
CrossEyes offered to check my eyes strength for a second time and made new glasses within two weeks. They increased the strength and changed the focal point (again eyeballed it without precision). I also purchased a blue-filter coting this time - just to make sure I have everything that would help my eyes to get back to normal.
But my eyes did not recover. The same issue continued. Two weeks holiday resting eyes with no screen didn´t help either. So I went to a new eye-doctor that assured me again that there is nothing wrong with my eyes. I still did not have an explanation as to why my eyes are not working properly.
At this point, I was getting scared. My eyes were exceedingly strained and I did not know what to do. So I went to an expensive private eye clinic in hopes to figure out what to do. They ran numerous tests on me and confirmed that my eyes are healthy and that the strain must be caused by the wrong glasses.
I did not trust CrossEyes at this point and I wanted to get my good sight back as soon as possible. So I went to another optic that thoroughly tested my sight, carefully measured the focal points - (not eyeballed like in CrosEyes) and recommended me a different type of glass. And after 2 weeks of going with the 3rd version of the glasses, my eyes are almost fully recovered. I am so relieved, that I can see and work properly again. It is hard to pinpoint what specifically was wrong with CrossEyes optics, but I am pretty sure it was not the strength. Thus, I believe it is not necessarily a mistake of a CrossEyes optician, but generally cheap suppliers for the optics.
This was a long, expensive and stressful experience.
REFUNDS
I called the shop today to ask if it is possible to get a refund. They refused saying that it´s too late for that and that I should have visited the store to try to fix their glasses for the 3rd time. But now it is too late, according to them.
I purchased the glasses on 2020-03-07 (my boyfriend picked them up when they were ready two weeks later as I was abroad during the first covid wave.) I started to wear them in September.
I called today 2021-03-04 and were declined a refund or further help as I was told a year has passed.
First of all, not yet a year, second of all, that is not the law. According to the law, there is 2 years of reklamationsret and CrossEyes are responsible to fix the issue or if unable to make it work to return the money, which they denied. Would have been nice to have some money returned to cover the eye clinic bills...
