Horrible client relationship model

Let's start by have been on auto pay for over a year. Card on file expires and within days a) attempt to self-correct online and blocked as to force clients into store b) explain to store manager that the card expired and could she reverse a late charge as result of not able to change card online. The corporate response, no ability to reverse late fee. In end, they bait you with low entry price and "will" immediately up contracted rate per signed agreement. They then nickel and dime by establishing hard line positions on what are clearly things (like late fee reversals) where they can flex based on customers history of auto pay payments. My suggestion to prospective clients...run to U Haul and/or Extra Storage which still hold higher levels of client service.

CubeSmart canceled my reservation with no written notice

CubeSmart's online system cancelled my reservation with no written notice and then refused to honor the original rate.

On 5/6 I reserved a 10x15 unit online: 1151 East New York Ave, Brooklyn NY, 11212 location; $277.80/mo; 5/21 move-in date. When I clicked into the SmartRental flow from the confirmation email, CubeSmart's system changed my move-in date to 5/7 with no written notice. Then the store cancelled my reservation after I missed a few phone calls which my phone flagged as potential spam - no attempt to reach me via text or email. I only found out the reservation had been cancelled a couple weeks later when I tried to complete it and couldn't.

The store and district manager refused to honor the rate that I'd reserved, leading me to rent at $398.50/mo, 43% more, since I had movers in 5 days. Their online FAQ specifically says "you can start your rental anytime between now and your move-in date with SmartRental", but apparently doing so led to my reservation being cancelled.

Then I showed up at the store and the unit was way smaller than advertised, around 8x14.5, even narrower than 8' at some points due to I-beams. I cancelled and took my business elsewhere, having to scramble with my moving company arriving in just a few days.

The store rep was helpful throughout the whole thing. Not his fault, just deceptive business practices by CubeSmart!

Do not store your belongings in…

Do not store your belongings in cubesnart. They get you in with a great price and it continues to rise like paying rent for a NY apartment. My unit was dark for years, and when I complained that I couldn't see they told me it takes along time for someone to fix something. I said 3 yrs. for them to replace a light bulb. They never did. They also don't prorate your unused usage of space. Way Overpriced. Cubesmart 183 Lorraine St. A money grab.

INSURANCE COVERAGE PROVIDED

I am posting this review to share my experience with CubeSmart and the insurance claim process associated with my storage unit.

After discovering damage to my stored property, I filed Claim #030028 and provided documentation, photographs, and supporting information. Throughout the process, I was given inconsistent explanations regarding my claim. I was advised that the insurance coverage was connected to Ameritas, and later told that Ameritas no longer handled CubeSmart-related coverage and that Fortegra was involved in the claims process.

One of my biggest concerns is that when I moved out of the storage unit, no CubeSmart employee or representative was present to inspect, document, or examine the alleged damage with me. Despite this, I was later informed that there was insufficient proof of damage from the storage facility.

When I recently spoke with management and reviewed the history of the claim, the notes being read back to me did not match the information and documentation I recall submitting from the beginning. I have maintained records of emails, photographs, claim submissions, and communications throughout this process.

As a customer, it is extremely frustrating to provide documentation, receive changing explanations, and then have a claim denied.

My advice to anyone renting from CubeSmart: document everything, take extensive photos and videos before moving in and before moving out, keep copies of all emails and claim submissions, and do not assume that someone from the facility will inspect or document damage on your behalf.

Based on my experience, I am very disappointed with how this claim was handled.

Excellent customer service with MS DEE

Wow! Cubemart is a wonderful way to store your college kids items for the summer! Signing up and securing a locker is simple and fast!
I spoke to Ms. Dee and she was extremely helpful and kind! We live 14 hours away and she is going to assist our deaf daughter on how to get into her storage cube and set up her lock! She even has a app to help with translation! i am so thankful for Ms. Dee and kindness! I truly appreciate her!

Worst payment system ever 500 650 3066#

Because I wrote this review, I was given detailed directions to solve the problem. I followed the directions and again on this date June1, 2026 I still had to make a personal phone call to CUBESMART BUSINESS CENTER to pay my bill + a late fee + a fee for paying by [phone. This service is the worst.

Thank you Trust Pilot.

I have been told month after month to set up payments with a credit card. The option doesn't exist.

I am not able to set up automated payment
I have been told by the company in Boulder at 4880 Pearl St for my locker D9 i must set up automatic payment using CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD NOT a bank.
withdrawal from my account.
There's no option whatsoever to set up automated credit card payment . I am more than happy to do this but it is impossible on your site and I cannot access the app from Paris, France.
For months I have been forced to pay an extra $8.00 or more not including all the all the phone calls I have had to make to ensure payment goes through.
What do you suggest?
There is now no HUMAN to speak at CUBESMART 800 number.
I am a long term customer and your service is a
disgrace. There is a complete disconnect between the office manager on the ground in Boulder, 2880 Pearl st. and the 877 number who— when there was someone to speak to— told me how to set up payment in a way that is not offered on the site.

very clean--like the covered…

very clean--like the covered entry/loading dock. You need better maintenance on your elevators. Several times one or both elevators have been out at the same time, and I've had to come back in days.-which was surprising because the unit are fairly new. Perhaps you could offer long term rental discounts(or slow down the rental increases on these units).Staff is very friendly

This is an amendment to a previous review. Went to look at storage units at 925 New Hampshire Ave in Lakewood NJ. A man named Eric walked me around and showed me a 10x20 and a 10x25. If he showed it to me it must have been available. I asked him to reserve it. I said I needed to look into renters insurance so they wouldn't charge me and as soon as I got the declaration page to bring it in. He said I had 14 days. I called the following day and told him I would bring the paper in and rent the unit. Insurance company said it would be around 5 days. He informed me someone came in later that day and rented the unit. That's bullshit and totally incompetent. Cubesmart is dead to me. Now I'm paying for a rental insurance policy that I didn't need.

Holy Moses

Holy Moses! Stay away from this organization. They placed my belongings in auction status and then ignore phone calls. Every complaint channel goes directly back to the same narcissistic member of upper management. I feel like I just got mugged. STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION.

Canceled My Reservation 2+ weeks Before Arriving

About 7-10 days after I made a reservation for a 5 x 5 storage unit, they contacted me twice by email, saying my reservation had been canceled. A lady left me a voicemail wanting to reschedule. I kept wondering if they have 3-4 locations in ALBQ, N.M., why can they not even hold a reservation? Why would I want to reschedule? Moving in would not be until the first week of May, and it's still a good 2 weeks away.
After my cancellation, I called U-Haul, who held one for me, and the first month is free.

My experience with 1601 Battlefield…

My experience with 1601 Battlefield Pkwy NE Leesburg VA has been easy, pleasant and extremely helpful. Even while the manager was on vacation, the staff was extremely helpful and expeditious. While I am out of the country, I could call back in and get immediate and friendly service and resolved all issues and payment.

Great Experience

I used CubeSmart in March, 2026 - the location at 160 Dupont Street in Buffalo, New York. There, I met the manager, a lady named Tina. Her associate, Alan, was helpful. They treated me well; they behaved professionally. But the reason I do not give 5 stars is because this location seemed to be in an economically strained area, a “bad neighborhood.” Tina and Alan seemed to be unaware that not all storage places are in economically strained areas. What I mean specifically is that they had all office doors, inside and out, locked at all times, For me, it was weird to encounter locked doors to an office that is supposedly open for business, the staff right there visible in the office. I had no conversation with them about this oddity, as I did not want to embarrass them, but it seemed obvious that the doors were always locked because the neighborhood was dangerous. They might have apologized for the locked doors and explained, but they did not. Still, I give them a positive review because they treated me well. The place was neat and clean and organized. And I respect their efforts at maintaining professionalism while working in an economically strained area!

Angie saved the day..

I really appreciate CubeSmart for how easy it was to rent from them and with no hidden costs..But especially for what Angie was so kind to do..My 2 helpers were exhausted from the heat..They went to ask the office if there was any water available.. They didn't have the code to get out of the gate & came back.. Shortly after that Angie brought a liter of ice cold water to the men..It was hot out and the storage unit was quite a distance from the office.. Angie saw the guys from her office window and took it upon herself to walk in the heat and bring them water..That good deed was greatly appreciated.. Thank you Angie..

MOLD, MILDEW & RATS

Mold, mildew and rats (nests & feces) in two "climate controlled" units. Furniture, rugs damaged beyond repair. Cube Smart denied any responsibility. Their insurance also denied any responsibility for reparation--they do not cover mold, mildew or rodents.
Stay away!

Cubesmart sucks

If you do not need climate control, find someplace cheaper. They raise your initial “introductory rate” within 6 months then annually. You are not getting anything extra for the money. Also, their lights are on a sensor so if you’re in your unit, expect the lights to go out and you will be in the dark. I hate it.

Cubesmart storage Dixie highway that they started over charging because they did it to me so remove your belongings now. Because I did . They put a a little lock on your unit and said i agreed to an increase from $67 to over $90 to 99 every 2 weeks instead of monthly which I pay on the 12th Monthly.Watch Tony the fat white guy at the desk with the black Suv he is a jerk. During the day so they put a little lock on your unit they claim you were late. So remove your items immediately They do that with the gate down and report to the police See i spoke to so man I said I didn't agree for a increase of $20 for storage I closed my account there. They will break in your storage while you sleep too.

CubeSmart Storage

I'm having a great experience with my storage needs at the CubeSmart on 211 E Pleasant Street in Baltimore. Not only did I get a great price for my needs. I also am happy to have met two wonderful ladies that will make any customer feel at home. Come on over if you have storage needs and meet Ms Heather an Ms Erica. Theses ladies are the best host ever.

My kids cards were stolen out of my…

My kids cards were stolen out of my storage unit ,and instead of helping me they decide to charge me more every month and let crack heads and bums sleep in their unit . Avoided the shit out of this place get any other storage you can. They had a literal Crack bum fortress on premises .

This is for the over the top…

This is for the over the top professionalism and effort in completing a space for my storing needs Victoria in cube smart madera , very friendly and compassionate amd took care of the process fast I truly appreciate her. Also the general Manager at the facility over the top recommend this facility for their superb customer service skills and willingness to make sure customer is satisfied and at ease . Also gave me a ride where I was staying just extremely helpful and kind . I highly recommend cube smart self storage in Madera.
