Cycle Breaks has been organising self-guided cycling and walking holidays since 1991, from our base in Suffolk, England. Each holiday includes hand-picked hotels, daily luggage transfers and clear route notes or GPS navigation. Because no two tours suit every rider, we are very happy to work with you before booking to match your fitness and expectations to the right trip — and we'd rather not sell a holiday than sell you the wrong one. We look after all arrangements directly for our itineraries in England (Suffolk, Norfolk) and work with trusted local partners across Austria (The Austrian Lakes, The Danube, Mur River Valley), France (Alsace, The Dordogne, Languedoc, Loire Valley, Provence), Germany (Baltic Coast, Lake Constance, Moselle, Munich Lakes), Italy (Trentino/SudTirol, Piedmont, Puglia, Tuscany, Veneto), Portugal (Algarve, Alentejo) and Spain (Catalonia, Rioja, Valencia), plus Bike & Boat holidays in Austria, France, Belgium, Holland, Hungary and Italy. We welcome solo travellers, couples, families and groups, with e-bikes available in most areas.

Alsace wine roads

Cycle Breaks were very easy to deal with and liaised with a similar organisation in France to organise our trip to the Alsace. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and it was a great region to cycle in. We have a couple of criticisms which are that the quality of the restaurants was variable (we went for half board but that meant that we were restricted to the specified restaurants - and sometimes specific menus - some of which were excellent and some were disappointing) and that the distances on the route could have been evened out more - some days were quite short and others were very long. Route finding was generally easy, the bikes were good with plenty of storage for picking up wine along the road and the area was fabulous - easy cycling along the canals & a bit more energetic through the vineyards. We would go again..

Cycle Breaks Tour 3G

We booked tour 3G with Cycle Breaks (one centre break) and we were extremely pleased with our accommodation as we were away from the main hotel but by no means in inferior accommodation and it suited our two families very well.
We hired bikes which were delivered to the hotel and we were able to keep them as long as we needed on the final day.

This was a second Cycle Breaks holiday for some of our party and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend them

Seeing Norfolk Up Close

We really enjoyed the cycling experience in Norfolk, although would have preferred to ride on more designated cycling paths, as the country lanes were very busy with traffic travelling at speed. We were advised that cycle helmets would not be strictly necessary, however we met very few local cyclists not wearing them and would opt to use them should we do this kind of activity again.

It was great to discover unexpected beautiful old manor houses and stately homes during the days of cycling. Unfortunately we are slow cyclists and needed to take shorter routes in order to arrive in good time, so we missed some places of interest

We enjoyed the boat trip to the Broads as well as the steam train to Wells-next the Sea and cycled right by Blickling Hall so didn't feel disappointed.

The accommodation arranged for us was comfortable and our hosts pleasant. Meals were usually pub style food, the exception being Strattons Hotel where that food was exceptional. Cycle Breaks conveniently provisionally reserved tables for us when necessary which relieved tired people of decision making at the end of the day.

We're glad we chose to do this cycling tour.

I made a fairly late reservation with…

I made a fairly late reservation with Cycle Breaks when I found out that I had to come to the UK on business and wanted to take a couple days relaxation at the same time. They responded quickly made superb arrangements and were very welcoming when I arrived (even stopping me on the route to indicate that I had missed a turn). It was a great experience and I will surely hope to take another break with them when next I am in the UK.

Thank you Graham for taking the time to complete the feedback form and for posting a review. We know that many people find it difficult to adjust to a back-pedal brake system therefore bikes with a freewheel are generally provided for our clients. Unfortunately with this partner, the only e-bikes available are fitted with a back-pedal brake - at the moment - we shall pass on your feedback!
It's good to know that you enjoyed your holiday and that you would be interested in spending more time in the Alps - investigating options from St Moritz and/or Innsbruck to Bolzano is on our to do list!

Cycle Breaks went beyond the call of duty to give us a great break

I had a wonderful short break with Cycle Breaks. My 13 year old daughter and I hired bikes which where perfect for the job. I downloaded their routes onto my Garmin GPS which were pleasant and easy to follow with several options. My daughter is Vegan and so Cycle Breaks took the time to make sure that there was Vegan food for her. The hotel we stayed at was wonderful. They were expecting us and our luggage was in our room waiting for us. We had a memorable and thoroughly enjoyable min break and I am delighted to recommend Cycle Breaks to anyone wanting a similar holiday.

Cycle Breaks have been brilliant

Cycle Breaks have been brilliant. They have met and in some areas exceeded our rather demanding requests. They have also been delightful to deal with.
Our specification was quite specific in both the daily challenge, the accommodation and ale stops! Their knowledge of Suffolk is brilliant. They also seamlessly weaned us from OS maps to electronic navigation.
We have been cycling for many years and used many tour operators. Cycle Breaks are undoubtedly Premier division. We will use them again.

Loire Valley Tour

An excellent, well-planned tour with very few glitches. The Cycle Breaks staff were exceedingly helpful and accommodating. And the route and accommodations were superb.

Great service as always from Cycle Breaks

Great service as always from Cycle Breaks. Excellent routes through the beautiful Suffolk coast area provided an opportunity to visit two “timeless” seaside towns, being Southwold and Aldeburgh, from the base of a very comfortable hotel that serves excellent food. What more could you ask?

Good time cycling Spanish countryside Biar to Valencia

The trip was well organised, the communication before and during the trip was very efficient. The routes were varied, we cycled through vineyards, fragrant orange groves, rice fields, olive orchards, some pine forests. We had gentle ups and fast downs on sealed surface and some on gravel, we experienced little towns and villages, some historical places, castles and monasteries, a couple of gorgeous gorges. We had optional routes to choose from, useful recommendations what to see and where to eat. Accommodation was warm and comfortable, some very unique and special, particularly in Fontenares and Xiativa. The food was tasty, and in sufficient amounts. The bikes were in very good condition, the trip notes and the GPS provided an excellent support as some of the track was tricky. Overall and excellent service from The Cycle Breaks and their friendly Spanish partner.
A well retired couple.

Friendly and Professional

We've been using Cycle Breaks for the last 6 years or so and continue to be impressed by their service, and the quality of tours they offer.
They obviously carefully select the 'on the ground' partners who supply bikes and directions (and more, if you need them in an emergency) and no-one we've dealt with has found anything too much trouble or been anything other than friendly and professional.
The places the tours cover have always has something to recommend them, the chosen hotels have always met expectations, and we've always enjoyed our holidays.
The team in Suffolk are consistently lovely on the telephone and email and again, provide a very professional service.
We'll certainly continue to book our cycle holidays through Cycle Breaks.

Awesome bike trip in Strasbourg

We were very pleased with the prompt service we experienced from Cycle Breaks, and the good advice they provided as we were finalising our plans. Our accommodations were exactly as advertised, and our local supplier of bikes and maps was very helpful. Overall, we had a great time in Strasbourg. I highly recommend both Cycle Breaks and cycling around Strasbourg.

Excellent weekend cycle break in Susffolk

Excellent weekend cycle break in Suffolk. Accommodation was outstanding. Routes were just right taking us around quiet country lanes and interesting features. Although maps were provided, I recommend taking your own OS Explorer map for those tricky bits.
