Dacia Warning lights.

Dacia stepway bought new in 2019. Would not recommend Dacia cars. Every year around this time warning lights come on screen to get it to a garage asap, and every year since the warranty (3 years) I have taken my car to a garage for its mot , and an unneeded, expensive oil and filter change.
These warning lights I believe are a con to scare owners into taking their vehicles to a main dealership to pay an exorbitant price for “ their “ recommended servicing.
My garage just plugs in their garage laptop and turn off the warning lights after they do my mot and oil change , which I feel ( after 5000 miles) was not needed. Be warned

Part one totally disgusted

Part one: I bought a brand new top of the range Dacia Duster 2025 plate on Thursday 3rd July. (Parks Garage Ayr)
Less than 48 hours later (230 miles) the car developed an electrical problem and broke down on the side of the A77.

I contacted the garage I bought the car from to speak to the person who sold me the car. Every time I phoned he was busy with a customer. 3rd time I phone he was still busy with a customer until I asked to speak to a manager, and yes instantly the person who was busy suddenly became available.
He came on the phone at 4.30pm and said how unfortunate it was that this brand new car had broken down.
I explained that this was hugely more significant than unfortunate to me.

He then proceeded to ask me what I would like him to do. I requested that he get the car recovered and be supplied with a courtesy car to the same standard of my car.
I was told there was no administrative staff working weekends so a courtesy car would not be possible. I was also told the car could not be recovered to Parks garage would be closing at 5pm and the garage did not have a key box to safely leave the keys.
I was advised that I could leave the car on the street outside the garage however this would be at my own risk and I would need to leave the keys in the car. (THIS would mean the car would be unlocked on the street as the car will not lock with a set of keys in it)
I explained this was not suitable or helpful at all.

I then suggested instead of asking me what I wanted to happen then be told no this can't happen for the person to tell me what he could do to help. I was told he could do nothing as he was finishing and going home at 5pm.

More than disappointed at this response I asked why he had asked me what I wanted him to do when he had no intentions of doing anything to help.

He then said he would speak to a manager and see what could be done, I explained it was now 4.40pm and the garage closes at 5pm would I get a call back before 5pm. I was promised a call back before 5pm.
Surprise no phone call back.

I had phoned the RAC to get the car recovered and they phoned me to get this arranged, they asked if the car was being recovered to Parks garage, I explained that they had refused to have the car back as the garage would be closed and they do not have a key box for the keys to be left safely.
The lady from the RAC said she would phone Parks garage and call me back.
She phoned back within 5 minutes to say she found them unhelpful and told her the same as they had told me. No key box and they could leave the car on the street with the keys inside however this would be at my own risk.
She explained the this was not suitable and she was instructed to recover the car to the euro route depot today and then re recover the car back to Parks on the Monday. So instead of one recovery around 20 miles it would be 2 recoveries totalling around 70 miles.

So I am now without a car left stranded in the rain with absolutely no reasonable help from Parks garage or Dacia as they are not open at weekends.

Sunday 4th July no contact from Parks garage.

I emailed the person I had been dealing with at Parks garage on Sunday 4th explaining how disappointed I was with the handling of this and the way in which I had been spoken to.

Monday 5th July 8am I phoned Dacia uk to open a complaint about the whole situation.
After speaking to the executive complaints team I was put through to Prestige car hire to arrange a courtesy car.
The first question i was asked is has my car been recovered to Parks garage, when I explained that they refused to have the car recovered there I was immediately told I could not have a courtesy car until my car had been returned to Parks garage, yet another let down despite it being Psrks who refused to have the car back.

9.10am on Monday 5th July I received a phone call from Parks after sales staff.
The first question I was asked was why did I not have the car recovered to the garage! I explained that the garage refused to have the car recovered due to there being no key box available at Parks garage.
He then informed me that there is a key box and could not understand why I had been told there's was no key box. So I had also been lied to during this difficult situation. He then questioned if I had been told this at all, I suggested he call the RAC as they had been told the same and instructed to recover the car to Stranraer and then re recover the car to Parks 2 days later.
He commented this was unfortunate and apologised saying he would speak to the staff who I had dealt with on the Saturday.
He then asked why I had not phoned the garage on the Sunday, he was advised that this was a test for them to see if they cared at all as if they did they would have been on the phone to me first thing on the Sunday however then had made no attempt to phone me and had left me car less.

I explained that I was on holiday this week and had plans to travel however these plans are now ruined due to having no car.

I went to buy a Dacia Spring from Dacia Basingstoke. James Metcalfe the Dacia representative was excellent in all areas, professional, honest and patient.
He guided us through the whole process very efficiently and made us feel very comfortable. Well done James. I already have a Dacia Sandero and they are great cars!

Buying a Dacia from st albans

We we were greeted by Mohsin he guided us through all the details of purchasing a Dacia duster automatic. He dealt with all our enquiries really well. Which was encouraging…. We finally decided to purchase and closed the deal. All in all a very likeable and professional salesperson to deal with. Would recommend him to anyone wishing to purchase a Dacia at St Albans.

In view of the comment here by Mal I…

In view of the comment here by Mal I wish to comment on the aspect of warranty.

Kia were the first company to give SEVEN YEAR Warranties. They even gave TEN YEAR warranties on their Stinger in the USA. That's putting faith in your own product. Second hand Kia's, from Kia dealers now come with a SEVEN YEAR warranty! Other manufacturers had to respond to these amazing warranties by Kia, and it is costing them heavily in warranty claims. 3 Year Warranty Mal? You must be joking.

I have no connection or interest in Kia in any way whatsoever, but I believe in spreading the word, just as Trustpilot are doing, so that people can benefit from better products and exemplary customer service.

Awful, awful cars

Not sure where to start, parking cameras have been intermittently working from brand new, they can't fix it. clutch went after 31/2 years, just outside warranty, in what world does a clutch only last that long? Rear electric windows don't work.Absolutely shocking with no back up what so ever.
