87% uptime?!? Yes, that's what you can expect.

I started using a service a few months ago to monitor our website. I receive so many complaints that the site is down, that I thought it would be a good idea. Well, it was and it wasn't. I had no idea how frequently DailyRazor is down. For November 2024 our uptime was 87%. Prior to that it averaged anywhere from 85% to 98%. Down for 6 hours here, 3 hours there. Once for 5 entire days. NEVER any explanations, and every time it's "The issue has been resolved" "The problem has been solved" "The server was reconfigured" "The issue with the site has been resolved now." Then, inevitably, we're down the next day.

We use ColdFusion and MySQL. They'll change something with the web server and simply forget to update CF permissions. Or they'll update CF and neglect to update IIS. And on and on and on. It's like they can't follow a basic checklist. Every single time they update or change one service, they obviously forget to verify mappings and permissions from related services. Yesterday it was a 404 error for 6 hours. Today it's a 503 error - 7 hours and counting. 404, 404.3, 503, 404.19, 403 - you name the error and I've seen it in the past few months. It's like a bad game of dice in Vegas "Mama needs her website up and running!" Oooh. 404.

What's even worse - and yes, it can get worse, is that they'll perform security patches and updates that require changes to backend code - but not inform customers. They performed a MySQL security update that required a change to every query in the system. But they never told us. It took us two days to update over 100 pages - I did not even count that in the down time. Instances like that have happened several times. They'll change a security setting that requires customers to edit CF pages, typically with email, MySQL or local directory structure. But they'll never notify you when they do it - zero advance warning. How do we find out? The site is down.

Their email has been blocked by every major ISP for over a year - the solution? They charge for an "enhanced email system" that uses a 3rd party to deliver email. But they can't get this to work with Cold Fusion. Mail goes out, but there's never any notification when there's a delivery issue - they say that none of it bounces. Please. I have sent it to totally garbage addresses and it does not bounce.

Looking at my trouble tickets for issues with the server being down or site unavailable - 35 instances this year of 3 hours or more. Email issues? Close to 40.

I hate giving 1 star reviews

(I increased my stars from 1 to 2 because, at least today, DailyRazor.com seems to be trying. If they do well, I can raise the stars upwards. There is hope.)

I hate giving 1 star reviews. It seems so desperate—but in this case, I have no recourse, if I am to be honest.

What can I add to the deluge of negative reviews for DailyRazor.com? Plenty.
After reading so many negative reviews, I thought DailyRazor could not possibly be that bad. Yes, they can, especially if their website is a front for another secretive business wishing to remain somewhat anonymous.
I chose DailyRazor because they offered shared ColdFusion hosting for a simple website I was developing.

I've been at this for 35 years and with ColdFusion and MSSQL when it was Allaire and Joe Allaire back in about 1996. Then CF was sold to Macromedia, then to Adobe.

One main problem with DailyRazor is their front-end tech support must not understand English well enough and most of the time, if not all the time, they attempt to read only the first sentence or section of a technical report, then ignore the rest. But who can blame these possible foreigners hired by DailyRazor or whatever their real business name is, that need to rush so quickly that they don't have the experience or mental acuity and decency to actually read the technical problem or error and do something about it. I am not saying they are stupid; just give an excellent impression of it.

I did not complain when they charged me far too much but when the service constantly went down and after taking time to inform them, they waited long enough, 20 minutes to 30 minutes, to bring the service back up, then tell me they saw no problem! After this happened three times in the same day, I had enough and unloaded on them a barrage of profanity to insure they would never want me back again, and I moved my site to another hosting service.

I was with mental DailyRazor for a little less than, I believe, three months. But that is enough. Before then, I repeatedly told them I wanted to cancel and receive the guaranteed refund if I was not satisfied. They ignored me. No refund. So their guarantee and assurance that customer satisfaction is their number one concern is total B.S. Their concern at DailyRazor is only to maximize their profits at the expense and dissatisfaction of the customer.

DailyRazor seems totally paranoid about security, as perhaps most companies these days should be. But not to the degree that DailyRazor has to hide important tools in Plesk Panel to run their website and cause your service to repeatedly crash.

Oh,I desperately wanted our relationship to work. I far prefer using ColdFusion and there are too few honest ColdFusion hosting services, if any. But their constant lack of listening and being honest with what is going on, for me, made it difficult to continue. I spent most of my time fixing DailyRazor problems or attempting to communicate in English, as they say they are located in the US. Their front end reception may be switching servers and firewall, but who knows where they really are and what they do with your private information? And it appears they stole their interface from Hostek. They are mostly identical.

There are so many other problems with DailyRazor it seems the only way for them to combat the problem is to suggest, hire, or otherwise get people, even entice customers to write 5 star reviews. Read them, and it's fairly easy to tell.

All I wanted was a decent, fair, and reliable hosting company. I thought DailyRazor.com could not be worse than Hostek.com. They are about the same as are most hosting companies. I began to think the problem must be me somehow. I tried to be patient, but when you cannot trust a hosting company with your important databases, it's time to continue looking or change from ColdFusion to PHP and MySQL.

More than once, I asked to speak with a manager or supervisor. They ignored me. I asked to speak with Billing. They ignored me.

In the end, it was DailyRazor that seemed to purposefully hang my site for retribution. In that I can't be 100% certain, but 95% is good enough for me to move on. The evidence is overwhelming. But the net result is that I cannot trust DailyRazor.com with my future website domains. Give them a try if you will but unless you spend a small fortune on dedicated enterprise servers, they may mostly ignore you. And it's my feeling they will take their time, lie, try to confuse issues with inept doubletalk, stark ignorance, and wait for you to get angry enough to teach them American English using four letter words.

There were so many other problems, I can only shake my head at how much time and effort I put into it to make it work for both of us. I hate to give up, but sometimes it's best. If only someone had actually tried to communicate.

That's not the way it's supposed to work.

Avoid

Avoid. Constantly down. Over the last few years, I must have created tickets with them 50 times for "major issues": site down, email down, CFM pages offline, PHP down.

The worst was when they did a server migration and blocked GoogleBot from accessing my sites for weeks. I disappeared from Google search, never recovered my ranking, lost customers and sales. The ridiculous explanation was that it was to protect other sites because I am on a shared server. Really, who doesn't want their site to be found by Google?

They refused to take any responsibility or compensate me for basically ruining my business.

Pretty fast support.

Been with Dailyrazor web host for over four months , and I am happy to report that I have had absolutely no problems with them or their service. Good hardware and bandwidth. The best in their service is support, always honest and pretty fast.

Professionalism can be personal

The history of my longterm personal hosting account with Dailyrazor traces back to 2011. Based on the currently available records, I've filed 6 Support tickets with the earliest being for the AutoSSL warning in 2021. Then the 2023 account migration to new server (never an easy & seamless transition for any company) triggered several rounds of comment exchanges with the team. After that a couple more followed in 2023 ~ 2024 that were also whitelist related. Other than that, there were not any major issues for a support ticket. I've no doubt that its hosting service and customer service are reliable and trustworthy ever since my account opened in 2011.

I've given 5 stars with pleasure for my tickets including the most recent one because the customer service professionals have always resolved issues - simple or complex, very promptly with thorough explanations. Taking their time to shed some light on the cause was meaningful to me as a Web professional in my past career. Thanking for their sincerity and passion in doing very fine jobs, I often appreciate the comments exchanged with knowing smiles and a bit fun. Kudos to EVERY ONE in the Customer Service / Technical Support team!!! :)

DailyRazor highly recommended by long term customer

DailyRazor has been hosting our sites for over 16 years. We currently have a reseller silver shared hosting account. DailyRazor’s pricing has always been fair and competitive. Over the years their tech support has only improved. When we’ve had issues their tech support has been responsive and fast. Their tech support is available 24/7. There have been times we have contact them on weekends or early mornings and they always respond. Trouble tickets are usually resolved within an hour. In the rare cases when it takes longer they will escalate the issue to higher support. Our websites are rarely down. We were surprised when we saw some of the 1-star ratings. We have not had those issues. We would recommend giving DailyRazor a chance to provide your hosting needs.

the hosting service is very unreliable

the hosting service is very unreliable. they are also very dishonest. they set up recurring payments on your paypal accounts so that even if you stop using their service they charge you for 3 more years. below is the last email i gor from them:

Hello,

As we advised you before, your hosting service has been canceled and will terminate on the server at the end of its current renewed term, which is 10/31/2026.

Under the terms of service agreement governing the provision of services to you, a service contract cancellation request MUST be received 30 days before the service renewal date to prevent service contract renewal.

Your cancellation request was received on 11/28/2023 and not on or before 10/01/2023. As such, this renewal is non-refundable.

Extremely bad zero customer thinking…

Extremely bad zero customer thinking service. They think nothing but themselves. Your business is dependent on your website? they dont care... Your business is dependent on your emails? They don't care. They are running migrations takes 4 days and still on going and they are not able to give any estimations in regards to when migration will finish.

In the meantime, you without no email services running, no website operates, waiting for this ridiculous company to finish their migration.

I dont know how this company survives honestly. They are just a big joke and no-one should use their services...

Soon we will be migrating faaaar away from them.

I contacted them about technical issues with my site several times, and it was constantly down and the latency (waiting was very high). I spent 2 years trying to get them to cancel the account but they had auto-pay on my Credit card. I finally got the auto-pay to stop when I threatened bank with legal action. (Yes, I had to do that to the bank because DR was not responsive)

Downtime and Technical Issues / Poor Support / No Escalation

I had been a customer of Daily Razor for over 6 years and had numerous issues with uptime, configuration, and performance. In general, they were resolved fairly quickly, though the problems would recur. Recently, the downtime had become ridiculous, and I was told that I was running on a plan that doesn't support the software stack their site clearly states it's created for. After about a dozen back-and-forth messages and numerous ignored requests for escalation, I feel like they don't understand even the basics of the issue. I am very happy to have moved to another web host, though it took a lot of my own time and effort to do so. I would never recommend Daily Razor to anyone that requires reliable web hosting and any level of technical or customer service. Perhaps the worst irony is that all of their messages state that "Customer satisfaction is our #1 priority".

You Get What You Pay For

DailyRazor offers unparalleled ColdFusion hosting packages allowing up to 30 Domains, Email, Databases, Web Based Email, and several other services that I don't even use. BUT...the sites are offline constantly. I have to contact customer service repeatedly for issues getting my sites online or other errors I have experienced. It's maddening to have to deal with the connection errors, issues, and downtime, but I have been unable to find another ColdFusion host that offers so much at this low of a price. Their claims of 99.999% uptime and expert hosting/service are complete garbage. I have dealt with some good people in getting technical issues resolved (usually the Level 2 and Level 3 support staff), but the problems should not have existed in the first place. I guess you get what you pay for?

Horrible experience with shared…

Horrible experience with shared hosting. I

It always looks good initially when you buy their service for longer period.. and as the time passes, you will start getting bad support from their team. I am not even on very basic plan. I purchased medium plan which is suitable for my need.

In my personal experience, I have my 5-6 sites up and running with them, since last 2 months or so - I am getting so much down time and impacting my business and users badly.

Everytime you report, they reply back saying it is working fine for us - trust me.. who would be interested in reporting false complaint? if customer are saying something is down it means it is down. no matter what the reason is..

after lot of emails - they moved my site to different shared server and assist me to improve the site loading speed (which was working since last 2yr) suddenly they start suggesting.

On the new server - first 2 week everything is good and I was happy. and then the time comes - facing down time every 2hr..

I still have 5 months left in my plan but what can you do if you just cant make your site up on shared hosting.. I have no idea what to tell them.. and how I would handle my site users.. really disappointed.

A few months ago, I decided to opt for Dailyrazor hosting provider which was awesome. I faced no issues at all and have been happy since then. There are many hosting plans o choose from with the pricing starting at $3.15 per month. Great pricing and fantastic uptime. Their tech support has always been extremely responsive and helpful. I was really fascinated by the mailing system of the web host that not only worked well, but also received immense support from the technical staff. Thanks.
