Unprofessional

Unprofessional, poor communication, although a couple of the agents were very nice people and polite ( the nice people have since left..). Overall I would not recommend selling with Darlows Llanishen. They even have the cheek to keep ringing me about "my property search" when the sale of my flat has fallen through!

Absolutely terrible service

Absolutely terrible service. My wife and i were living in a flat for a year so happy to get out. Very sneaky tactics were used by them. The first was trying to say we stole the a sofa. That they'd had put in storage. The second was we complained about noise constantly banging from above screaming arguing. Up drinking at all hours. Again nothing done. Then they accused us of having the locks changed. Also done by them and and when we left they tried saying we left it dirty. All of that I could easily prove wrong. As I have all the evidence I keep emails texts and videos from when I first got there and when we left. Avoid at all costs.

Darlows was truly FANTASTIC

Short version:

After experiencing several disappointing and unproductive months with another well-known estate agent in Pontypridd, I moved my property to Darlows Pontypridd. Within just one week, they had generated multiple genuinely interested buyers. Their professionalism, dedication, and quality of service were exceptional. My sincere thanks to Gayle, Jackie, and the entire Darlows Pontypridd team.

Detailed version

Before explaining my experience with Darlows Pontypridd, it is important to outline the challenges I faced with a previous estate agent, to highlight just how exceptional Darlows truly are.
Last year, I made the mistake of appointing a well-known estate agent in Pontypridd to sell my home, believing their “auction” route would speed up the sale. Unfortunately, this decision resulted in months of avoidable stress, due to repeated errors and what appeared to be a lack of care.

The photographs they uploaded of my property were extremely poor in quality—several looked as though they had been taken on a mobile phone, and some were not even photographs of my property at all. The written description also contained numerous basic inaccuracies. I eventually had to insist that someone revisit the house, and at one point even asked the branch manager whether they were intentionally trying not to sell it. I was repeatedly made to feel that my property had little value and was strongly encouraged to make drastic price reductions, which raised questions about their motives and whether particular investors might have been positioned to benefit.

After several months of frustration and no progress, I approached Darlows Pontypridd—and the contrast could not have been more striking. When I first contacted them, Gayle, the branch manager, visited the property in person and immediately reassured me that it had substantial potential. Within just one week of listing with Darlows, I had several interested buyers.
Darlows genuinely work to sell your property. In comparison, my experience with the previous agent left me feeling as though they focused on winning instructions and then expected the property to sell itself without meaningful effort. Darlows Pontypridd demonstrate the opposite: they are proactive, diligent, and fully committed throughout the process.

From the moment I met Gayle, it was clear why the office operates so efficiently. The entire team functions with the precision of a well-orchestrated operation. Gayle’s knowledge of the Pontypridd market is extraordinary; during one conversation, she recalled in detail both the interiors and sold prices of properties previously owned by my sister and my parents—information she remembered without hesitation. When I asked how she recalled these details, she replied, “I never forget a property.” That level of dedication is rare and speaks volumes about her professionalism.

Immediately after our initial meeting, Gayle arranged for new photographs to be taken—and the difference compared to the previous agent’s images was remarkable. Anyone comparing listings on Rightmove can see for themselves: Darlows take pride in presenting each property to the highest standard.

After my property was sold subject to contract, I was then supported by the excellent Jackie, the Move Manager, who guided the transaction with exceptional professionalism. She provided more regular and helpful updates than my solicitor, ensuring that I was always aware of the progress and next steps. Her communication was consistent, reassuring, and invaluable—especially for anyone who may feel anxious during the conveyancing process.

I cannot recommend Darlows Pontypridd highly enough. My sincere thanks to Gayle, Jackie, and the entire team for their outstanding service, professionalism, and commitment.

Great experience!!

Me and my girlfriend are first time renters and was very hesitant at the start however darlows made the experience extremely easy and effortless. Ollie the estate agent has been a huge help getting answers as quick as possible and super polite towards me and my Girlfriend. Really good work ethic!! If anyone else is a first time renter and is worried about the process then I would highly recommend Darlows.

Possibly the worst estate agent we have…

Possibly the worst estate agent we have ever had the misfortune to deal with. We bought a property with Darlows and the service was dismal from start to finish. Phone calls frequently not returned, emails often unanswered, promises broken and inaccurate or misleading information provided about the property purchased. Eventually we had to ask local residents for the information we required. Their Llanishen branch was often closed and I was not the only one to decide to drive to the branch after days of trying to get hold of someone. The office was closed when I got there but another lady was banging the door in frustration at not being able to get hold of anyone for weeks on end, hoping someone would come down from upstairs. When they did I found the property we were purchasing still advertised for sale inside, months after having our offer accepted. We both left urgent messages to be contacted but still no one got in touch with me. Staff need better training and customer service needs serious attention.

I had a great experience

I had a great experience. While many agencies said they would call me and then never got back in touch, Krystle Davies, an agent from Darlows, not only showed me a house on the same day but also helped me find exactly the home I wanted, being friendly, patient, helpful, and competent. I highly recommend the agency and this agent in particular!

Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct by Darlows Estate Agency

I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with Darlows Estate Agency, which I consider one of the most unprofessional agencies I have encountered. As an investor, I had an offer accepted in November 2024 for a property advertised as a studio in Ferry Court. What followed was an exceptionally frustrating conveyancing process, marked by significant delays and poor communication from the vendor, their solicitor, and Darlows.

The conveyancing process took nearly seven months to reach the point of exchange. During this period, the vendor, their solicitor, and Darlows were consistently slow to respond, requiring me to send over 100 emails to chase progress. At times, the vendor’s solicitor failed to reply for weeks or even months, causing unnecessary delays. Conveniently, by the time we approached exchange, the tenant’s fixed-term tenancy had expired. Under Welsh law, this allowed the tenant to remain on a rolling contract, which was contrary to my interest as an investor, as my offer was conditional on purchasing the property with a fixed-term tenancy in place.

I explicitly requested that Darlows liaise with the vendor to ensure the property was either transferred with a fixed-term tenancy (as agreed in November 2024) or delivered vacant. In an email sent via the Darlows agent on 4 June 2025, I was assured that a tenancy agreement would be reinstated on the day of completion. Based on this assurance, I transferred all necessary funds. However, when the time came, the vendor and their solicitor denied any such arrangement, leaving me with the unacceptable option of accepting the property with a tenant on a rolling contract. This would have exposed me to the risk of a six-month tenancy continuation and the potential need for legal action to evict the tenant.

The sudden responsiveness of the vendor’s solicitor, who began replying to queries within hours once the fixed-term tenancy neared its end, contrasted sharply with their earlier delays. This pattern of behaviour, combined with the failure to honour the agreed tenancy terms, represents a serious breach of trust and professionalism. I am deeply disappointed by Darlows’ handling of this matter and their failure to ensure clear and accurate communication throughout the process.
Very conveniently the same property has been advertised straight away on same day (today - 26/06/2025 after wasting my 7 months)

We had 2 viewings with Jessica Jones and she was amazing, nothing was too much trouble and she answered any questions we had and made sure we knew we could contact her at any time for further questions. We put an offer on the house and Jess updated us when she could and informed us the same day that the offer had been accepted. Thank you so much Jess for all your help! Would recommend Jess and Darlows in brynmawr so much.
