Best Builders Ever!
Sue, Martin, Richard and their company recently completed a huge overhaul, renovation and extension of our (very tired) 1970's bungalow. As we’ve only ever done work on our previous homes ourselves, to hand the project over to others was a daunting prospect for us. However, right from our first meeting, the Davies looked after us with absolute care, commitment and professionalism.
The project ran through summer 2021-spring 2022, when the materials supply chain was stretched, and right through the challenges of covid. Through it all, work on site continued, with Sue and Martin back at base chasing down supplies, managing schedules and working closely with us to ensure the best balance between quality and price, and always with patience and a real knowledge of the industry.
Yes, there were difficulties, delays and frustrations along the way – it was a huge undertaking, and these things are bound to happen, especially with so many external factors beyond any builder’s control. However, the quality of the work and attention to detail was always of the highest standard, and, if something wasn’t right the first time, it was re-done until it matched the very high standards of the rest of the project. At a time where builders were hard to come by, and tales of builders letting people down and simply not turning up to site, Davies were on site every single day, and moving things along.
We love our new home. Passers-by often stop to comment on it, and the phrase ‘Grand Designs’ has been mentioned more than once! We invited the estate agent who’d sold us the house back to see what we’d done with it – he was blown away by what had been done, in particular, in his words ‘the quality of the finish’. Between ourselves and our architect, we knew what we wanted to do; the Davies absolutely ‘got’ what we wanted to do, and they made it happen, and their own ideas and input were also a very important part of that.
There may be builders out there who will give you a cheaper quote, if that’s your only criteria. However, Davies were the best we could ever have hoped to find, and gave us great value for money when creating our new home. Highly recommended.
