I was preparing for an L5 loop at AWS and didn't have much time before my interviews. I came across Day One Careers and booked a session with Gayle, which turned out to be incredibly helpful. Her feedback was thorough and helped me understand what the interviewers were actually looking for and what I needed to do next. It gave me a lot of clarity and direction.

I found so much value in that first session that I booked another one with her, and it was just as helpful. Those sessions helped me prepare thoroughly and go into my interviews feeling genuinely confident. I had a loop with five interviewers, and there wasn't a single question that caught me off guard. What stood out to me was that the coaching went well beyond STAR formatting or memorizing Leadership Principle stories. Evgeny focused on helping me understand how Amazon interviewers think, what they are evaluating, and how to communicate my experience in a way that is both structured and authentic.

I have over 20 years of experience in AI, data engineering, cloud architecture, and solution architecture, so my challenge wasn't a lack of technical knowledge. They are experts at prepping for the Amazon hiring process, yes, and the skills you gain are helpful for any interview - and generally telling compelling stories from your career or beyond. The STAR case study format prep is the core, and mock interviews with others going through the process or already at Amazon are incredibly helpful and unique. Plus 1:1 coaching available.

I knew next to nothing about the interview process at Amazon before I got my interview. I spent the first few days consuming all of the YouTube content I could watching videos about people’s personal experiences preparing for the Amazon interview process.

This was where I first came across Day One Careers. I watched so many of their videos and it was then I realized this process is way more intense than I thought. I took a stab at drafting my stories using the Star method. I wrote every story out word for word. Ended up with about a 50 page word doc with about 25 stories. I then paid for the AI tools that Day One Careers offers to help me work on my stories. The AI is specifically trained to think like an Amazonian and the advice it gives you on how to fix your stories was great. I spent hours and hours using this tool to fix my stories after my initial drafts.

I also paid for individual mock interview 1 on 1 coaching with Evgeny who is an ex Amazon bar raiser which helped me realize how woefully underprepared I was. He gave really constructive feedback that allowed me to then go and practice more with family and friends.

I do believe most people underestimate how difficult the Amazon interviewing process is and especially now with all the layoffs happening, external candidates are competing with soooo many internal candidates that you really have to wow the people on your loop to have a chance.I’ve sat on multiple loops now with strong candidates that didn’t prepare enough for the Amazon way of interviewing and don’t make it through. For better or worse, you have to prepare for an Amazon loop. I’ve recommended Day One Careers multiple times and will continue to do so because I don’t think I would have got the job without using their service.

Had 1-1 coaching from Evgeny and honestly one of the best investments I have had. Really concise and detailed feedback which helped me identify improvement areas (esp. since I tend to speak a bit too long and lose sight of the story/focus).

Preparing for an Amazon Loop (L7 manager) can be daunting, even if you have the experience: being able to deliver your stories under pressure, focusing on the right aspects, embracing the STAR method, it's a lot. I did three mock interviews with Gigi and Evgeny, and their feedback was pivotal to understand what I was not communicating clearly, where I needed to highlight a different part of the experience. The story review tool was incredible too: with very clear and actionable feedback, I was able to iterate and improve until I felt comfortable. (And yes, I got the job!)
