Awareness

I am writing this to warn others about my experience with DC Building Inspector (UK/AU) since I worked with this company for about a year as a head of sales.Dealing with the owner David Dunat, has been an incredibly stressful and unprofessional experience.
There are significant concerns regarding the company's integrity:
• Failure to Pay Staff/Contractors: There is a consistent pattern of non-payment. Multiple inspectors—including Robert Hall, Minesh, and Simon—as well as myself, have not been paid for our work. We have been forced to repeatedly ask for our earned wages with no resolution.
• Misleading Guarantees: They advertise "money-back guarantees" to win business, but these are not honored when requested.
• Client Payment Issues: I have seen instances where clients pay upfront, only for the company to cancel the job without providing the report or returning the money.
• Unreliable Leadership: The owner does not honor his word and uses aggressive, diversionary tactics to avoid professional and financial accountability.
Whether you are looking for a building inspection or a professional partnership, I strongly advise you to look elsewhere. A company that does not pay its inspectors cannot be trusted to provide a reliable service. Please do your due diligence before handing over any money.

A proper Snagging inspector

I recently used DC Building Inspectors for a snagging inspection and was very impressed. The team was extremely responsive and managed to organize everything quickly, even on short notice. Rob is a true professional—he arrived on time, carried out a thorough inspection, and provided a detailed snagging report that helped me highlight and prioritize issues with the developer before completion. Throughout the inspection, Rob also shared valuable insights and suggestions, which were very helpful. Great work and thank you!

Disappointing Experience and Poor Communication

I recently used this company for a snagging inspection and, unfortunately, found the experience underwhelming.

Before booking, I was shown a sample report that was outdated and not representative of what I received. This led to a mismatch in expectations that could have easily been avoided with clearer, upfront communication. The final report did contain large images, but in several cases these lacked explanatory text, which in my view makes it harder for a third party (such as a developer) to understand the issues without further clarification.

While I appreciate they offered to speak directly with the developer, my overall impression was that my concerns were dismissed rather than genuinely addressed. The tone of responses felt defensive, focusing more on justifying the format than engaging constructively with feedback.

I can see how the service might work well for others, but based on my own experience, I cannot recommend it without reservations.

Reply from DC Building Inspectors - Snagging Surveyors London

The report provided was in fact representative of what you received. You attempted to coerce our surveyor to add items that are in fact not defects. This is not acceptable and never will be. We stand by our decision to not include the item you deemed to be a defect, we are required to follow the NHQB standard which ensures all surveys are completed to a high standard. Your review should be removed or adjusted as it not reflective of the great service that our team provided. I am happy to discuss this further, feel free to call our office.
