I am very afraid for my safety after…
I am very afraid for my safety after busy it gets the store earlier today. I had an experience very similar to someone named Ard who posted on April 10, 2023. I have never been so humiliated, embarrased and insulted in my life. I had an experience very similar to someone named Ard who posted on April 10, 2023. I have never been so humiliated, embarrassed and insulted in my life.
I visited the store looking for jewelry. I have purchased jewelry many times before at this store. I went to the Tiffany counter and the Cartier counter. I left without purchasing anything. On the way out of the store I was followed out by security and told the alarm went off and I may have stolen something and needed to return to the store. I asked for the security guards name which he would not reply even with me asking three times. He just kept stating I needed to go back into the store. I told him that I did not want to and asked for a manager or the police several times. A manger finally came, I recounted what had happened. He stated again I may have stolen something and needed to return to the store so they could look in my bag. I told them I did not want to return to the store but to please call the police and they can look in my bag.
After a short while another security guard with glasses appeared and was quite aggressive and told me that if I did not return to the store he would tackle me amd force me into the store. I again asked for the police. The manager and this guard got very close to me and I asked when they were so close. I tron a step bake to get space between myself and them and the tool a step forward. I took another step back and they took another step forward and then the manage made some gesture and I was tackled and called names by the guard with glasses and long hair. I was dragged back into the store.
I had been screaming for help and the police and many witnesses saw this happen. Some police appeared from the crowd just as I was dragged through to turn style by several guards. The police checked my bag and confirmed I had not stolen anything and I was then allowed to leave the store.
As I mentioned, I have been in this store before and I have purchased jewelry there before, but now I am afraid to return to this store and afraid for my safety. I will not go back to this store and I do believe my treatment may have been racially motivated. I never tried to leave like a thief would, I only demanded the police since so was being accused of theft multiple times. I am physically and mentally injured by this incident and hope by writing this it will not happen to anyone else. The security guards really need better training and should not be allowed to tackle someone whose only request was for the police to be called. Additionally, I do not appreciate being called derogatory names by the security.
I have left out a few minor details in the name of brevity, but this is what happened to me today. I will never return to that store and possibly never to the Netherlands as a result of this incident. Machines do make false alarms, a valued customer should not be treated like a criminal based on a machine!
