Time to find another dentist

I have been going to this dentist for many years and had no issues. In recent years they have become unreliable. I had an urgent problem, I arranged an appointment, got to the dentist and found that they gave the appointment to someone else. with my face half puffed with a tooth ache, they had aknowledged that the mistake was theres but they did not apologies or provide any solution. Complete shamble. I have now started to look for an alternative dentist after so many years.

First Class........

I have visited Dentistry For You in Forest Hill on many occasions and I have always been treated VERY well.
Today I was seen by Alkistis (Al) who was extremely thorough in her examination, professional in her approach and very informative.
I have seen the negative reviews on here which are not all at the F/Hill Surgery.
I do appreciate that you can only "speak as you find" but my personal experiences there have always been positive having been treated with professionalism and empathy on every visit.
And just for the record as it seems to be relevant to some, I am a NHS patient!!

I broke my Molar on the Weekend!

I experienced a broken lower left molar in September 2025 and could not chew at all on the left side of my mouth. This was a highly inconvenient situation. As this happened over the weekend, I attempted some DIY fixes at home, but they kept failing. On Monday, I found that I could not visit my local dentist, but fortunately, this practice was able to see me the next day and provide a temporary solution until I could undergo a full assessment to determine if the molar needed a complete extraction or if there was an alternative. I was seen on the NHS service, and the bill came to under £30. I am very pleased with the service I received.

Lack of communication? EASTBOURNE

My husband had to pay "privately" for dental work, as there were no more NHS patient appointments left. Appalling PRIVATE PATIENT service!! Worse than my NHS dentist!! Appointment made by them for Monday. Left home, arrived at the dentist to be told dental work hadn't arrived. Returned the next day by appointment. Waited over an hour to be told dental work hadn't arrived, would you wait another ten minutes. Half an hour later would you wait 10 minutes. We left after waiting again. Eventually, and sensibly an appointment was made after the dental work arrived. Which turned out to be FRIDAY!!! Disgraceful costly private service. Dental work nothing special either. My advice: Go to a proper Private Dentist!!

Booked me for a extraction

Booked me for a extraction, so took half a day off of work and when I got there they had no idea what was expected, so they wanted to book me in for another day to take off work, when I asked could they guarantee that they would not waste my time on that day, they could only assume so. There was no apology .That made my blood boil so asked for my money back but they refused..These people don’t give a ……., avoid it you expect any respect as a customer.

Don't be conned by NHS notices, you will be fleeced privately

Only good thing I can say was the actual treatment for basic NHS check-up, then polish and clean for which I was unwittingly forced to pay privately. Good treatment seems unusual for DfY. Forest Hill DfY give the impression of being pro-NHS, but don't be conned like I was. I was stuck in the dentist's chair, knowing my teeth needed a polish, when I had private fee imposed on me. I am going to contest this via NHS. Receptionist that day was toxic and judgmental, normal for DfY. Seating area covered in someone's lunch.

1 star is very generous...Took my 14…

1 star is very generous...Took my 14 month old son to the Dentist for the first time only to receive the most, intolerable customer service I've experienced in a long time. First and foremost there was no step free access, not child friendly at all. A patient who was leaving kindly asked a member of staff to help me up the stairs which he did by carrying my son's pram up the stairs although he had a face like a slapped arse, as if them not having step free access was my fault. Secondly after attempting to report to reception and being ignored and kept waiting for a good few seconds while the receptionist and her colleagues are chatting and giggling amongst themselves. I'm eventually acknowledged being told that I need to sign registration documents, OK cool. I proceed to put my son back in his pram so I can complete the form. The same receptionist is standing at the doorway smirking whereby I state it's not very child friendly here is it." She then blanks me and walks off. There was a technical glitch on the iPad that I used to complete the form so I told her and handed it back to her; to cut a long story short she is still giggling and smirking while dealing with me. By this point I'm beyond annoyed. I told her to "Drop the attitude you're very unprofessional, stop giggling and smirking, or else this will be the FIRST and the LAST time I come back here." Then silence. On top of that the Dentist wasn't any better and obviously wanted to rush my appointment. My advice: Do not go to 'Dentistry for you', WORST Dental surgery ever they aren't FOR anyone but THEMSELVES. Rude, arrogant and nonchalant. Apart from the staff member who helped me and my son down the stairs.

Scammer dentists

The owner of the practice is always on about money. He is investing in properties - i discovered that in Companies House. That bunch of guys surnamed Harunani were and are still more interested in properties investment than being dentists. I have been tracking them for years. They use the money sucked up from the practice to invest in properties. Check it out on Companies House yourself.

Their service is generally very poor. The Indian receptionist is not polite. Their sole aim is money-making. They give little time for everything including examination so they can make the most money with as little service as possible.

It's high time they're replaced. These are rubbish dentists scammers without conscience - criminal grade.

The Harunanis are scammers, fraudsters.

The worst dental practice I have ever…

The worst dental practice I have ever known. I went to the Maldon branch branch for an emergency check on my broken tooth. I was told there was an infection and that tooth needed an extraction by a specialist (I thought dentists were specialists. That's their job!) When after a couple of weeks I said could you please refer me so that I can go and have my tooth taken care of. I was told "Oh, you will have to come in for a full check up before we can refer you." I had just paid for the emergency check up and now I had to pay for another check up before they would proceed with the referral. What an absolute rip off! I had to ring 111 when the pain became so intense that I could not function normally. They booked me in with a dentist in Chelmsford, who quite happily ripped out the rotten tooth on that day. So where was the problem with that? Why could my dentist not do that? I am absolutely appalled by Maldon Dentistry for you (Quest) I have never been so badly treated by a dentist practice in my life. They deserve to have no patients at all. I have now moved my family to Sharrow Dental Practice in Chelmsford.

Taken off Dental list due to complaint

Needed emergency NHS appointment for broken tooth, had to see a different Dentist as no appointments. Offered a cap - then informed needed a referral for an extraction. had to complain to actually see Dentist and make sure no infection due to awaiting upcoming knee operation. Referred. Referral refused by Hospital and referral accepted with another provider. The provider rang me stating it was an extraction for a wisdom tooth (I had all 4 wisdom teeth extracted 25 years ago), had to request dentist to send another referral with correct tooth - informed no further referral done as it is my wisdom tooth and taken off the Dentist's list. So I have had to put in another formal complaint and am getting medical evidence that they have wrongly taken me off the list and I have NO wisdom teeth. Good Dentist until I needed emergency treatment - now have no referral for a broken tooth and no NHS Dentist.

Quest Dental in Maldon + Hockley Dental Care

I attended Quest Dental in Maldon, who referred me to their Dental practice in Hockley, both in Essex. I've read the reviews on here but I have to say, not every dental practice is like those mentioned. I've had positive experiences with both the named branches. My appointment was cancelled once but after a short telephone conversation explaining illness I was offered another appointment the following week. Both practice's staff are friendly, polite and welcoming. No one's ever been rude on the phone or in person. Illness happens, at very short notice sometimes. A simple explanation is all it takes. After waiting since June for this tooth to be extracted, I'm just thankful it's out now. Thank You and God Bless.

Misleading & are NOT accepting NHS patients

3 Oct 2023 - NHS website on 3 Oct 23 says they are accepting new NHS patients. This practice shows on NHS website as "Mr E Harunani, Mr N Harunani, Mr M Kanani". I phoned, they said "yes we are accepting new patients". I asked, "how can I register and get an appointment?" - receptionist said "you have to come here to fill in a form" - and she refused to send it by email, she said it has to be done in person. I told her it is a one hour drive to get there, she said "it's your decision if you don't want an appointment". So I asked, if I come there to fill in the form, then when can I get an appointment?" She said "when we have the form, we will look at it". I asked, "so when would that be?" She said "I don't know". I asked, "So when are you booking new appoints for?" - She did not want to answer, so I kept asking the same question - and she finally answered "May" - as in May 2024.
Don't waste your time with this practice. They are not accepting NHS patients (contrary to their status on the NHS website), and they will just put you on a waiting list, and you will have to wait 8+ months to be seen, if ever. What is the point in misleading patients, by saying they accept NHS patients on the NHS website?

Poor quality service!

Poor quality service!
I called and made an appointment for my granddaughter and explained I am not her parent. The receptionist who took the call did not ask what the personal situation was why I am making this appointment for her or say anything to me whilst booking the appointment.
I arrived at FH Dental Practice with my granddaughter and again when asked to complete the forms I explained I am not the parent. At this point the receptionist challenged me at the desk and humiliated me in front of other people. I had to ask to speak to the practice manager and go into a separate room to discuss my private affairs. Eventually my granddaughter was seen!
If that wasn’t even enough it was her first time of going to the dentist and the dentist didn’t even bother introducing herself or making my granddaughter feel at ease! She just said “sit down and put your head back”. I then had to intervened and said “aren’t you going to even introduce yourself. This place is really going to the dogs!”. At least my dentist would make me feel at ease by introducing herself and explaining what she is going to do next! She then corrected her appalling behaviour and said her name she didn’t even apologise. My granddaughter was very nervous and started crying. The whole experience was absolutely appalling.

The practice manager told me on leaving that she had spoken to her staff but this is too late the embarrassment and upset has already been caused never again! I will not be going back!

Just to add I note that they HAVE NOT requested their usual “please write a review” they must be too ashamed by their poor performance hence the reason why I’m writing this note on Trust pilot website!
