Best experience dentist-periodontist in Columbia SC

My step-mother was a dental assistant for over 30 years and taught it in college eventually. I generally find a medical location and stick with it, if the experience and the quality are validated. I pay attention to any flags, good or bad. I care about proper billing, insurance, communications, and improvement of health over time. The business "Design Dentistry" is great. I only looked for another location because the previous place (not this one) changed owners, dropped out of the Blue Cross network, and another couple of flags. So, in looking, I tried "Design Dentistry" and was only looking for a dentist. However, I also visit a periodontist once every year or two, which is separate.

To my surprise, this place does both regular dental care and some periodontal cleaning as well. They do a lot of other things too. The primary dentist was great and focused his initial discussion with me regarding with what I was looking for. He didn't try to oversell anything, which was refreshing. He focused on both short term and long term care. Also, when I asked, they would pull up what my insurance would cover, and what my obligation would be. Being 70 years old, I'm quite familiar with what things cost, and they were always within proper range. I only decided to write this review after 2 visits there.

All the staff are positive-minded, appear to work constantly, and are very attentive to people. My hygienist, Jerome, worked on me both times. He was extremely careful, gave clear directions, and gave the highest quality cleaning I have experienced in my life. I noticed when he was done, he gave a thorough look over, searching for any areas to revisit for a more detailed cleaning. I also felt like he cared about his work and my health's results. And, again, this appeared standard with him on my both visits.

I'm so happy to have found a great dental business to continue to return and I recommend it.
