Just over three years old and start…

Just over three years old and start giving false alarms. Changed the battery clean for dust but keeps giving false alarm! As it is all connected it sets off the whole house and it very disturbing especially when it happened first time just before you had to leave the house…. Avoid

Garbage alarms with no support

Like other reviewers had the misfortune of having 4x deta 1151 linked smoke alarms installed in our new build DWH house. First one broke after 2 years and no replacement except a BRX version which we bought to maintain the connectivity, now that is also not available so will have to replace all 4 alarms at a cost over £150

Do not buy Deta alarms, no back up/support and no customer care whatsover just a cheap option for house builders who couldn’t care less once installed.

Useless company.

Shocking! Four year old 1151 smoke alarm has failed. Now obsolete. No replacement that fits the existing base. Now forced to replace all the alarms in the house in one go.

No apology from customer services just a matter of fact ‘you’re stuffed’ email.

Guess which company I won’t be buying the new alarms from. YOURS!

You should be shamed of yourselves.

Smoke Alarm Model 1151 Obsolete

Disappointed to find that my 5 years old Deta 1151 smoke alarm system is obsolete after a relatively short timespan and therefore with one faulty unit I now find have to replace all 5 alarms.

Surely this company should hold back some stock in the event of such eventualities?

You'll have to replace their product!

Model 1163, not possible to reset without breaking the actual alarm itself and if you don't have heating on the alarm will set off at the slightest sight of steam or smoke so having a hot shower or blowing out a candle. Then the only offer of help is to return the alarms and wait. Which given that it's unsafe to have no fire alarm is not going to happen! Why make a product that doesn't work to just sell it off cheaply to certain housing associations/builders, no integrity.

Avoid EVERYTHING from DETA!

Like everything in the building trade, workmanship of everything installed by Taylor Wimpey is dreadful & unreliable. The worst of all is our smoke alarms and bathroom lights which have all failed way sooner than they should in one guise or another and are DETA. As per another reviewer, these are 3 alarms in our townhouse, 1 per floor, linked up, and have on several occasions gone off all at the same time without reason, and scared the hell out of us in the middle of the night every time! (I should add there has never actually been any smoke or fire!) Equally, not only is it impossible to stop the alarm going off, to remove the outer lid of it is basically virtually impossible (it took me about 2 minutes per alarm with pliers!) And our alarms were still beeping intermittently hours after removing them from their ceiling wiring, removing the batteries & even switching off the smoke alarms at the fuse box. As you can imagine, for something so fundamental to the security of our home & safety of our family to be so utterly useless demonstrates the complete lack of ethics or responsibility of both the useless products of DETA and the lack of care of the major housebuilders. It is no surprise that the general public believe most builders and allied industries are not only in cahoots with one another but that you are all a bunch of crooks, who worse still are putting customers lives in danger. I hope you sleep well in the knowledge that our house now has no smoke alarms protecting it until I can get a qualified electrician to come out, at huge expense to myself, to a) check the wiring done by TW b) dispose of your utter rubbish DETA alarms and c) fits a whole new set of 3 smoke alarms to be wired into our mains properly, notably of a brand that will be something that works and is easy to operate/open/test/switch off. Hang your heads in shame, none of your products are fit for purpose.

Deta Electrical - Zero Customer Service

I purchased a home that has Deta Electrical Smoke Detectors installed; there are three of them as it is a three storey house. I had a problem with the smoke detectors which meant that I had to completely disconnect them leaving the home totally unprotected in case of a fire. I telephoned Deta Electrical and was advised that I needed to send an email to their Technical Department who would call me back. I have been emailing and calling this company daily since 27 April and in the end had to call out an emergency company to resolve the issue as I was not comfortable with not having any protection. The response from this company is abyssmal and their customer service is non existent considering the nature of their business. There could well have been an easy resolution if someone had taken the time to give me a call but instead I was left with a massive call out bill because they couldn't be bothered to make contact. If you are thinking of installing one of their systems I would think twice unless you are a dab hand at problem solving yourself because once they have your business and money their aftersales is none existent.
