Really enjoyed reading through this with the family and a few friends. We looked for motive and simply had to take a step back and specifically answer the question that was asked. This game has great potential! I like how they have been able to refine and will continue to do so in the future!

Got everything I ordered, as described.
Misplaced something and reached out to customer service and they responded promptly and helped me locate what I thought was missing.
It's a neat little thing but it requires an internet connection so you can't just play it anywhere.
The scenarios aren't that hard. Which is also good, you want the group to feel like they solved it.
It's a fun few hours but it's a bit expensive.

Our mystery was a lot of fun. We (4 of us) spent more time trying to find secret angles for everything like an episode of CSI and did a lot of laughing and guessing. The interactive nature of how to proceed via email added some great authenticity and we were ecstatic about solving it.

Ordered the 10 game bundle in January 2026, and as of 8th April have not received it. Tracking has not moved since the 19th January so I have raised a chargeback with my credit card. I have contacted their support email a number of times, but not had any response to date. I did get the digital download 'free gift' with my order, and printed it yesterday. It's 30+ pages to print, so quite a lot, but it absolutely doesn't make up for the lack of receiving what I paid for. I had seen the game advertised on Facebook and did a quick look at reviews at the time, I'm really sorry now I didn't do a more comprehensive check - haha, I failed as a detective!

Thought it was a fun 2-3 hour with friends!
I had a package delivered and it got lost but they were very kind to send me a replacement one free of charge!

Ordered 10 (2 5pk) on December 15th - just received 5…it’s Sunday, March 29th!! Lots of excuses, no refunds.

I just never received it and haven't heard anything from the company. Lighter the larger package. It was like 150 US dollars so it's a little annoying.

Scam - took my money, never recieved the product - when i ask for a refund they tell me i need to send back the product which i never recieved .....

Realized I had an old address in the order an hour after I ordered. After over a dozen emails and a 4 week delay in delivery they finally responded saying the product had shipped and there was nothing they could do. The thing they could have done is responded in a more timely manner and corrected the mistake.

We got The Van Hout Story Murder Mystery.

It took 2+ hours because that’s how long it took to read everything. Ultimately, at the end, only one person had motive, so not rocket science to figure it out. Also, that motive was the last clue given, so really, you only have to open the last clues and voila. So you scramble to track things all throughout and really none of it matters because in the end, when the real clue comes in, it’s very obvious and all your past work only served to confirm that the only person with motive had opportunity. Even then, too much was left to the imagination.

Some of the questions had problems, without spoiling, murdering versus being the tool of the murderer is two different things. Also, info about the where-abouts (and timing) of certain alibis were not given (person who reported preparing things … no more info on that, if it was actually done and at what time – leaves you with no reason to think someone else would step up to do it – very random). It was fun, but would have been more fun to have several motives to think through, not just one.

The materials were nice quality, and I would try again. But, if the next mystery set is just as easy, I think I’ll look for another company.

Weirdly, all the reviews on their website are excellent, so I'm not sure I would trust that.

This company is a scam.
I requested a refund when it still hadn't shipped 2 weeks after i ordered despite their site saying they ship same day, requested a refund numerous times and only then did i get a shipping label created. Still haven't received my order 2 months later and they finally responded and want me to just down load files instead of send the products to me or give me a refund. Customer service doesn't respond for weeks. I should have done my research. Their social media accounts all say the same thing as I am experiencing.

I ordered two sets, spending over $110. These were meant to be Christmas gifts. One set was received over a month later. The other has never been received. You can’t reach the company for support. Emails aren’t responded to quickly and have been no help.

It’s been a lesson to me. Writing this review to save others money. Try a more reputable company or enjoy an Escape Room.

Ordered and paid but months later I still haven't received the item, I've had no response from "customer service" and I've not yet received my refund.
Absolutely shocking and diabolical company. Avoid at all costs!!!

I tried to cancel immediately after I ordered as the currency being used wasn't clear when I ordered. They came back to me a week later saying it was too late as the product was set to ship. It didn't ship until weeks later.

Despite their return within 30 days policy, there was no reply to my emails that I sent constantly until a week or so post delivery.

They finally responded to me advising that they will refund when they get it back but I have to pay for shipping it back. I have done this and the refund has been given. The refund was made promptly but I did email them as soon as I had confirmation they received it.

I consider the cost to ship back to be my penance for being foolish enough to order.

So, in summary, they are too inept (or devious) to stop an order that's cancelled minutes after being made, and the communication is really slow.

Unless you are 100% sure you want this product, do not order.

Leaving a 1 star simply to inform people of what a trash game this is. If I could give zero, I would. My partner and I tried to play this game and kept think my we were missing sheets of information, but it’s just really poorly written and poorly planned. I made a joke at one point that the culprit would be a 6th, unnamed and/or briefly mentioned character. Guess what, it was a more or less unnamed, briefly mentioned character. Seems like an early AI wrote this. It’s really really bad. Do not buy.

Same problem as everyone else. Delayed shipping, order was meant as a Christmas gift so when it was delayed I asked for a refund. Was told couldn’t refund my purchase until I recieved the product. When I finally received it Jan 19th I immediately emailed requesting a refund. No response whatsoever. I’m disputing the charges and throwing this BS in the trash. Scam do not waste your time and money

Bought the 3-case detive bundle a week before Christmas for a Christmas present and paid for expedited shipping ($7). The website showed they had the item in stock. Two weeks later (after New Years) there was no email that the item had been shipped. I contacted them by email and they said they had elevated orders and we're behind (which means they were off for the holidays). A week later I received an email notification the item was shipped. Another week later it had not arrived. I checked the tracking info and it was shipped by DHL ground and was not scheduled to arrive for another week. I just got the product. It took 12 days for ground shipping and I paid for expedited shipping. It took 5 weeks to get an item that was supposedly in stock. They never offered to refund my extra shipping charge or any other compensation. They will not get any more of my business, nor will I recommend them to anyone else. There are better companies and their products can be purchased through Amazon.

Buyer beware!! To the ones who actually received your product, you were lucky. We placed our order 5 days before Christmas because they advertised "order today, receive before Christmas"... I guess they were referring to the "free bonus" that we received which was a simple kid game emailed.. Not quite what we paid for ($99 plus.) for the 3 game bundle. Customer service is one of the worse I have ever seen for a small company. You'll get an initial reply of "we are a small family business, overwhelmed with orders" and then you won't hear from them again. It is now January 13th, and still no product (exact purchase date was Decemeber 20th, 2025)
And yes, I paid for the Christmas gift wrap.. and the faster shipping option... the need to change the 1-4 day shipping to 1-4 weeks. Will never do business with again.

A week later, we purchased murder in Prague instead, and it arrived 2 days later. And a much better experience than this ever could have been. Save your money and get something better from a more trusted source.
