Excellent School
I transferred my niece to Detroit Enterprise Academy mid 7th grade. The school she was in prior to her transfer did not challenge her at all. The previous school and DEA are different as night and day. For the following reasons: The Principle and middle school teachers at DEA are totally engaged and assessable. The office staff at DEA are professional and WELL informed of everything that goes on. The safety of the kids is a obvious priority at this school. ANYTIME I want to talk to a teacher I call the office and I am transferred directly to that teacher. The students are required to read books year round even during the summer and are tested to make sure they comprehend what they read. I noticed a middle school problem kid was redirected by getting her involved in positive task etc. A younger grade school problem student was assigned a mentor. I can go on and on about how excellent this school is. I wish it went up to 12th grade. At DEA they are always trying to find ways to improve and always welcome parent input. Parents are encouraged and expected to be involved. The staff is young, energetic and innovative. Good principle = Good Teachers = Excellent school. That's my honest opinion about DEA.
