Wanted $2,000 Upfront, Then Hung Up When I Asked Questions
My experience with Mike Brennan at Developer Squad was frustrating and unprofessional. He wanted upfront payment for an approximately $2,000 project, yet repeatedly refused my requests for a brief phone call to clarify the scope before I committed.
I contacted the company about Merchant Center work for my two online stores. Before providing payment or account access, I wanted to explain the issues, understand what work would be performed, and clarify what the price covered. These are basic questions when considering a project of this size.
The experience left me questioning whether his expertise matched what he presents online. Rather than giving me confidence that he understood the problem, I felt he wanted me to pay first so he could figure it out afterward, without first allowing a proper conversation about what needed to be addressed.
Despite multiple attempts to arrange a call, several follow-up emails went unanswered. When we finally spoke and I asked for clarification, his tone became irritated. He told me he no longer wanted to work with me, wished me the best of luck, and hung up.
After two calls ended abruptly, I sent a message saying I would leave a review describing my experience. He called back in less than 30 seconds and said the disconnections were unintentional. I wish my requests to discuss the project had received that same urgency.
This review concerns the sales and consultation process, not completed development work. I was prepared to pay for professional help, but I expected clear answers and respectful communication before handing over money or access to my accounts.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend Developer Squad. Basic questions about a proposed project should be met with answers, not irritation and an abrupt end to the conversation.
