We had a new living room window…

We had a new living room window installed. The team - Harry and Josh were absolutely brilliant. Polite, hard-working and very professional. I have no hesitation in recommending David H Wright Joinery.

Great quality windows

I've used this company a few times over the past 6 years. They've completely redone our whole house with new wooden windows. We've had a few issues, as expected with anything fitted to an old house, but the company has always been quick to respond and solve any problems we've had. The windows have aged really well, with no issues at all since fitting and sorting the initially problems. As a returning customer they even helped push through production of some windows we needed urgently after a builder couldn't finish a job.

Good Sales Pitch... Poor Customer Service

We utilised this company for the replacement of timber sash windows in our Georgian home.

The initial sales pitch was good, the quality of their product looked well in the factory and we were sold and paid £1200 +VAT which they referred to as a ‘holding deposit’ both in the sales pitch and formal email quotation.

This holding deposit was to hold a place in their manufacturing queue whilst the planning went through the motions with our local council.

However, from that point the service went downhill and was none existent.

Once the money was secured by them, David came out with their designated architect (third party) and undertook a site visit; which took less than a hour for 18 windows.

David looked dis-interested and to be honest as if it was more hassle than worth to him, although initial costings were to be in the region of £30,000+.

Moving on from that, all our interaction was the with the architect. Any issues or problems raised from planning came directly back to us, no help or solutions were proposed by David H Wright - even though assistance fees were quoted.

After months of back and forth between us and the architect company, we found a way forward and eventually had planning formally approved. Once this was approved, David H Wright were quite happy to jump back on board and hound us at least fortnightly when figures wanted figuring out and the bottom line needed sorting; this was after not having at least ONE phone call or email during the planning process.

Unfortunately the figure that eventually came out was one we were unhappy with and David H Wright were unwilling to move on the final figure. I understand this, it is their company and it is their prerogative.

However, when we opted to tender out our planning approval and architect plan for further estimates, David H Wright started to backtrack and state the ‘holding deposit’ was now a ‘none refundable deposit’, now that there was the potential risk of losing the work.

Bearing in mind we paid the architect fees separately, they have offered £200 as a refund from our initial holding deposit of £1440, just because they did not come in with the best price.

Tendering and estimating is a part of business and I would be quite happy for a company to take their costs quoted (which were £595 +VAT) for planning assistance fees but to recover their tendering costs from our initial holding deposit is very poor.

A refund of £200 is just insulting and hence our reasoning to give transparency of our dealings with them as a company and help others before committing money to this company.

I have been assured their processes have now been changed but unfortunately this is still at our expense.

Be warned, quick to make a good sales pitch and take money, not so quick to help with the parts that are difficult.

We have now opted to use a company that we feel is offering a far superior service with the same product and guarantees.

Thank you for posting your comments. We are sorry that you feel this way, and we acknowledge your opinion.

David H Wright Joinery has been successfully serving our clients for over 32 years. We are an honest family company, and we always put our clients at the centre of all we do. We feel that serves as a testament to our trading ethics and honesty.

As planning took nearly a year to pass, our team worked tirelessly to assist you on your project, and we feel that your comments regarding "no help" is unjustified. You may have been unaware, but we had lots of input with your architect in the background throughout. For instance, we were the ones who satisfied him with regards to design, dimensions and manufacturing detail.

However, we do listen to constructive feedback, and as you mentioned, we have improved our processes where required. And, because we genuinely care about our customers, we will continue to evolve the way we work.

On this occasion, we are sorry we did not meet your expectations. As always, there are two sides to every story.

We wish you well with your project.

Extremely happy, quality craftspeople

Extremely happy with the quality of work - which was done as described, to cost and on time. Any minor niggles were resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. We have used David Wright Joinery more than once, following recommendations from friends, and have recommended them to others. If any doubt yourself, ask to meet some past and present customers and judge for yourself. Highly recommended as an honest and straightforward company to deal with
