TERRIBLE -This bus company/route 9 East Midlands…

The service provided by this bus company, specifically Route 9 from East Midlands to Burton, is extremely disappointing. After reading reviews from over a year ago, it seems very little has improved. Passengers face significant issues, including overcharging, late or missed buses, and minors being denied boarding, compounded by rude behavior from some drivers. It is unfortunate that the efforts of other employees, who clearly try their best, are overshadowed by these problems. Please address these issues as reliable bus service is essential for the daily lives of the community.

Expensive for short journeys

From overcharging when the government put a £2 cap on all buses (diamond refused to accept this for a while) to breaking down and setting on fire , diamond aren’t fit for purpose. They refuse to honour the ‘short hop’ unlike arriva who charge less for going a few stops. They refuse to install the tap on- tap off method. Buses are late and overcharge. Also no free wifi and most in Ashby- burton have no charging points.

Bus 9 keeps it's mark incredibly low as usual, as the company's drivers think it's okay to avoid airport bus stops for 3 hours straight and just drive past them, while the timetable clearly states they should be present. I watch old and disabled people sitting at the stop for hours in false hope to ever get where they need to be in this cold weather no less.

Buses are never on time rude

Buses are never on time always late supposed to be 13 minutes past the hour and 47 minutes past. Driver today turned up at 4.30 Gough road coseley was pulling off driving while was still giving him my money and waiting for ticket never give me chance to slow down. One person shouted on bus to slow down good job no children was on there. When we stopped the man said to the driver you want to learn how to drive properly your dangerous and driver replied to him catch another bus then how rude unprofessional and not very good for commuters who have to get to work on time and get back home. 11th September 2025.

Punctuality could be improved

I use the 18 to get to Merry Hill and to Dudley frequently. Even though it is usually about five or ten minutes late, sometimes it can be 20, maybe even 30 minutes late. Seems to just disappear. I understand its a long way but the WM's 4M and X10 have to go even further and even they can turn up on time. Not an issue for me as I use it for leisure, but what about people who need to go to work? Turn up late, they get sacked. Apart from that, every else about it is brilliant and comfortable.

Worse drivers on the road

The drivers of this companies buses are the worste, most unprofessional, rude, dangerous and downright reckless drivers on the road. I have no idea how any of their drivers ever passed a driving test and hold a current CPC licence. This company should be ashamed of how their drivers conduct themselves on publuc roads

1 star review feels like a compliment!

My 1 star review should be a minus!
Appalling service is to pay this company a compliment.
Nobody seems to know what happens within this organisation.
The Redditch office is just the most useless. A shambles of a company. Rang asking for times for the 247 bus. The one in the morning never came. I was at the bus stop 10 minutes prior the scheduled arrival…I waited 1 hour! Never arrived. I took a taxi to go to work. I was 2.5 hrs late!
Then the one to go back home…45 minutes late!
A woman on my own in the middle of a country industrial estate. I cannot imagine what is like in winter, in the cold, the rain and the dark.
To me this is total disrespect towards vulnerable passengers.
This company should be made to close down or highly fined for the non-service and putting people at risk!

Unreliable

To be honest this isn't the first time this happened to me whilst waiting for my bus at the bus stop , I was looking for updates on the Facebook groupchat but nothing has been put on there , so someone from my village told me that they are running an hour behind I am ashamed that I have to be told by a member of public. A similar situation also happened back in August when I was waiting at my bus stop and got told that they weren't running through my village that day by a member of the public and when I looked on Facebook there was no updates about this situation. This company is absolutely un reliable and has an appalling service. I hate having to get them but unfortunately it's my only way of transport to get to places, cannot wait for the day that I never have to use this shit company again.

Diamond Bus Driving Review

Diamond Bus Driving Review

I applied to be a trainee bus driver, if you want to train they will pay you £427 per week and the training will take 2 weeks away from home. In truth I only really did this because January is a horrific time of year and I have children so I had to take a bit of time away from music full time.

When you work that out, it's not really worth it because even when you come back you're only a £3 above minimum wage, if you have kids it's not really worth that strain, especially if the company is untrustworthy and horrifically disorganised.

Diamond bus company is BY FAR the most disorganised company I've ever worked for and It's on par with working for the dog food factory I worked for 10 years ago.

The management is non existent, they have one guy that knows what he's doing who is a supervisor and you never hear from anyone else. I had no idea who to turn to if I had any problems.

They put you on route training which is essentially you directing the bus driver where to go. Bare in mind you have no idea where you're going as you have never done this route before and either does the bus driver, so its 2 people with no idea where they are going. They will expect you to use your own phone to navigate, oh and by the way you will be expected to use YOUR mobile data which YOU pay for. They will tell you to use the diamond app to navigate which is definitely not reliable enough to be directing bus drivers when they are carrying passengers, especially school students and the elderly.

This route training should be carried out by someone who knows the route inside out and is able to direct the bus drivers if there's any closures. The impact this has on the company is that the customers won't get to where they want to on time and it is also very stressful for the driver and dangerous. I actually think they would be better off having a GPS system with an in ear headphone for the driver than doing it this way.

They are paying people roughly £300 per week to do this. The shifts are minimum 8 hours, sometimes 12 hours. It's literally throwing money down the drain. Majority of the buses don't have heating in them which is no good for a company charging £3 for a couple of mile journey. You could sit in the comfort of a taxi for £6 for the same journey and have a much higher chance of getting to where you need to on time. None of the drivers particularly care about the customers and are happy to skip stops. I had the number 17 go past me when I was on my bike and was cycling down the depot and I put my hand out, the driver stopped and told me that I wasn't allowed on even though there was NO customers on the bus and I was insulted for my looks and told to **** off. Bare in mind I've had every other driver happily take me. If you want to do the training you will have to enter a contract which binds you to pay £4000 back. This is cheeky because a quick look online you can get your pcv licence for less than that privately. I just can't believe how unprofessional the company is. I'm sorry but they don't deserve the custom. That is truly the bottom line.

When it comes to what they think about their customers, I'd say 70% of drivers are rude and couldn't care less. I dread to think how bad their staff turnover is.
