The car was not full at pickup

The car was not full at pickup, and it is extremely difficult to return it with the same amount of fuel. In fact, I was still charged €34 for a marginal fuel difference at return, which feels disproportionate given normal gauge fluctuations. The vehicle was not clean, the windscreen wipers were noisy and worn, and the staff handling the rental did not seem adequately trained.

Overall, a disappointing experience.

Scammers

If there was a zero star, I would give them a zero star. Have no one at the return desk on return and then get an email claiming a chip on the window. Car was full of tiny marks on receipt of the car and a new one magically appears on return. Kept full down payment of 1500 euros. No communication at all from them. Have to work through credit card fraudlent claims and insurance. Don't be attracted by the low price. You will pay for it in the end.

Almost scammers

Almost scammers...they offer attractive fees, but very poor (on purpose) communication. Results is pay 1 to rent the car and 4 for the compulsory insurance (they do not accept insurance from 3rd companies). Better avoid this company.

Warning to anyone considering renting with Differental.

I had one of the worst rental experiences I have ever encountered.

Differental charged me €264 for alleged “new damage”, despite timestamped photos clearly showing that this damage already existed before the rental period began.

What happened:
• No joint vehicle inspection at pickup.
• After signing the contract at the info point, we had to find the vehicle ourselves, with no staff assistance.
• Upon locating the vehicle, we immediately took detailed timestamped photos of all existing damage.
• Return was via Key Drop, so again, no inspection in my presence.
• Later, the company claimed this damage was new and refused to refund.

Communication:
Extremely slow and evasive. Evidence I provided was ignored. Responsibility was refused.
As a result, I have initiated a chargeback with my credit card provider and will submit the case to the European Consumer Centre (ECC).

My impression:
The process is unprofessional, opaque, and not customer-friendly.
If you rent here, document every detail of the vehicle – or consider using a different company entirely.

I wouldn't give not even 1 star. I had a problem with the car been vandalized; having my Insurance I need the invoice, and the payment receipt and other docs that I have been asked for my reimbursement. I sent various emails and never had any answer from them at all. They just took the deposit money and more for just a scratch.

Be careful for this scam company…

Be careful for this scam company who will do anything possible to rob you of your money.

I returned the car in good conditions, but they were very busy and had to leave the car there.

After few days they took €700 from my credit card, and NEVER communicated the reason for it. I emailed/phoned them several times, for nothing.

I claimed the money back through my bank and only after the bank challenged them that they came back stating that I returned the car with damage, providing pictures which may have been taken ages after I returned my car.

I did my part to advise all out there. be careful! Very cheeky company

Avoid this company

They tried to scam me

They tried to scam me. I rented a car via check24 with full insurance, and the lady at the counter told me that it was not valid, and i should pay 7500€ for the insurance and the caution. and than she said my credit card was not a credit card, and i should pay it in cash. she refused to talk to check24 customer service. I had to leave and rent another car for tripple the price. Was an awful experiance.

Poor from start to finish

Was left waiting in the hot sun for over an hour in olbia Sardinia whist one member of staff was working. Then I returned the car with i tiny dent the size of a grain of rice and a superficial scratch that would easily buff out .And I was charged 300Euros .So my advice would be Go elsewhere.

For me it’s a fraud

For me it’s a fraud.
Credit card must be 6 month valid I only had 5,5 month and the didn’t except debit card. So I had to pay additional 400 Euro.
A lot of people hate to do that during time I be there. All other companies didn’t need 6 month valid. For me it’s system and fraud. Never again

100% SCAM !!!! Never Again

They don't honor the terms of their contracts, they don't accept most credit cards, and the insurance premiums they charge are exorbitant. This is the worst rental company I've ever used. They're collaborating with Doititaly.com to scam people. We've spoken with at least a few affected families. We'll pursue legal action.

To Carjet the third party booking… Day 4

To Carjet the third party booking platform who booked differental car hire knowing obviously from reviews on Trust Pilot and from previous clients that had complained regarding Differential Car Hire Italy are Rogue & Fraudulent .

CEO Stephen Doran who I copied in on the e mails has not even had the professional integrity or courtesy to reply or even get a subordinate to reply . My booking contract was with Carjet ,they are obviously deaf to client complaints or they are complicit with the appalling service and fraudulent made up charges by Differental car hire IT.

A question Stephen why are your company asking me to make an insurance claim with the insurance company you provided for damage that is fictional, your company offer this route as a way to get my money back ! does this mean carjet are aware of this scam by Differential that would possibly implicate your company ? why should the insurance company I paid for with carjet have to pick up the 900 euro false damage claim ?

My advice Stephen grow a pair and strike this company off your collaboration list.and sort this out !

Never again

When i returned the vehicle i was told by the attendant that everything was ok and received paperwork to verify only to arrive home then a few days later received a bill for 1200 euros for alleged extra damage to the car ( no proof given and there is no way i caused any damage!! )
Feel as i've been robbed will never use again!!

Scam

They turn deposits into presumed purchased insurances. We said explicitly that we didnt want any additional insurances. It didnt matter, they just did it. They don't give you any copy of contract nor your supposed purchase until months later, and only after request. You will wonder why you credit card suddenly charges you, instead of releasing the deposit. Be aware that they work also with Autounion.

Thieves!!

Awful rental company!! Make sure you bring the car back during the day while they can still check on it. I've paid £436 for 5 days and they have taken an extra £451 for fake damages.

Tried to get in touch with them by email and phone calls but they didn't bother to reply.

Asked my lawyer to contact them by court proceedings as I've got all pictures showing I'm right

Stay away from Differental

Stay away from Differental! They are a dishonest company. We fell into their trap when they canceled our booking after just an hour of delay (caused by the airline, not us), even though we had already paid the full rental in advance. On top of that, we faced problems with the credit card and couldn’t even use our debit cards, despite their website claiming: ‘No credit card? No problem — with us your car rental is guaranteed.’ Lol. In the end, the only option they offered was paying more than 400 euros, so we had to rent a vehicle elsewhere. It’s a scam!

Awful experience. Avoid this company at all costs. It’s a SCAM. They try everything to get more money from you.
They refused to accept my valid credit card and tried to force me into buying extras. This company operates with scam-like practices. Save yourself the stress — book with a reputable rental company instead.

A total scam

A total scam! Do not rent from this scam of a company! Everything went well until the drop off. As many of the other review say they accused us of causing a scratch and a dent to the side of the car. We had photos of it from pick up that shows that the scratch was already there at pick up. He wanted us to sign a digital document stating that we caused the scratch and dent, we refused! He also said that we will be sent an invoice for the reparation costs and that we then have to pay that invoice. I questioned this because this is not how it works if something is faulty when returning a rental car, the young man that worked there didn’t know what to reply and then just said that wi will get our full bond back within 3 days. Today, 12 hrs later the bond was released, but they have deducted 380 euros for the damage to the car! They are a total fraud, such a joke of a company with a staff that is totally clueless and most likely trained to scam people! This was at the Rome airport/FCO. Luckily we have a good insurance so hopefully they will deal with this and the money will be returned.
