Written by the company

D.I.P.ism is a culturally informed grief support and community development organisation exploring the emotional, cultural, social and spiritual impacts of death, grief, loss and life transition within Global Majority communities. Through peer support, reflective conversation, education, community dialogue and holistic approaches, D.I.P.ism creates compassionate spaces where people can process experiences that are often misunderstood, silenced or unsupported within mainstream services. What makes D.I.P.ism unique is its commitment to culturally competent and community-rooted approaches to grief and emotional wellbeing. The organisation recognises that grief is not only personal, but also shaped by culture, family systems, migration, identity, faith, social inequality and collective experiences. D.I.P.ism therefore approaches grief as something relational, embodied and community connected, rather than simply something to “fix” or “move on” from. Through conversations, workshops, resources, online discussions, practitioner support and community engagement, D.I.P.ism encourages greater grief literacy, emotional reflection and culturally safe support pathways. The organisation also aims to bridge gaps between communities and existing wellbeing services by developing accessible, trusted and culturally aware spaces where people feel seen, heard and understood. D.I.P.ism believes grief support should be human, inclusive, reflective and rooted in dignity, care and community understanding.

DIPi.s.m Review

DIPi.s.m Review
All I can say is good grief! How my perception of death/grief has now changed. The DIPi.s.m training gave me a deeper understanding of the inner standing of grief. Enhancing my awareness, it helped me to explore, learn about the many facets of grief within a global community and beyond.
The D.I.P.ism platform created a safe space for me to process my grief, no matter how long ago it was. I realised I did not have to bare it alone, and I recognised that I had been holding onto grief from a very young age.
Becoming a D.I.P.ism Grief practitioner has taught me to be honest with myself, stay open to the process, and expect the unexpected. Within Death in Practice (DIP) the work went deep and personal. As inner healing took place, I discovered self-empowerment, appreciation, and the importance of living for now. Having the strength, and ability to discuss about melinated culture, death and relationships. Some of those who have passed wanted me to celebrate their lives, I’ve carried this with me.
What I also found to be a valuable toolkit with D.I.P.ism, regardless of where you may be in grief now, are the books written by Laura D. Pusey. Tapestries of Grief resourceful and easy to read, with elements that encourage reflection on one’s own grief journey and preparation for what may come.
My Life as a Tapestry, also by Laura D. Pusey, helps people discover more about their loved ones, including their wishes, any curiosities, and hidden parts of their lives. This can also assist towards reducing the stress in grief, supporting others in honouring and respecting personal wishes after a loved one that’s passed away.
The company is extremely diverse and offers strong expertise and knowledge in grief, death, related issues. I would consider approaching them for support, education. Training.

Alignment with Dipism

Before alignment with Dipism, conversations around grief, legacy, remembrance and end-of-life preparation were not absent from my awareness. Rather, they occupied a space seldom provided with an opportunity for exploration in any meaningful or sustained way. Like many aspects of life, they existed in the background, acknowledged but without a dedicated place for deeper reflection, discussion or discovery.

Through Dipism's books, learning opportunities and community, I discovered entirely new realms through which to engage with these subjects. What resonated immediately was that the experience extended far beyond practical preparation. It created space to consider identity, relationships, culture, belonging, memory and the many ways our lives continue to shape others while we live, long  before and long after, we are gone: ‘D.I.P.ism.’; ‘Death In Practice’~ ‘ism’ (a way of life).

What resonates most is the importance and acknowledgement placed on lived experiences, particularly, from the melanated perspective. That inclusion transformed what could have been a purely educational journey into something far richer and more personal. At times, it felt less like acquiring knowledge and more like uncovering connections, insights and reflections that had simply never before been given room to emerge.

The value of Dipism lies not only in its resources, but in the spaces it creates. Spaces for conversation, contemplation, learning and shared understanding around subjects that touch every one of us, yet are so rarely explored with such care and humanity. Dipism has not simply informed my understanding of grief, death and legacy. It has opened pathways for discovery, reflection and growth that continue to unfold long after the initial experience itself ~ LJ

How DIPIsm and its training is much more than Death and Pain

When I lost my parents, at different times in 2015 and 2020, it led me to explore death more deeply and understand it for what it truly is. I did not want death to remain something viewed only through negativity.

My experience with Dipism, particularly after the loss of my mother, was transformative. The practitioners gave me reassurance that there is no right or wrong way to grieve. They were friendly, down-to-earth, compassionate, and often brought humour when it was needed most. They guided me step by step through my grief journey.

What Dipism taught me was that grief is much more than emotional pain. It helped me understand the difference between the feelings and sensations that come with loss and the emotional responses that can sometimes pull us in many directions. Through this approach, I learned that grief has many layers, levels, and expressions, and that sharing those experiences with others can be incredibly healing.

Rather than focusing solely on the negative aspects of loss, Dipism helped me appreciate grief as a natural and meaningful part of life. It gave me a new perspective on death, loss, and healing, and ultimately inspired me to become a grief practitioner myself.

I am deeply grateful for the support, guidance, and understanding I received. Dipism has shown me that grief is not only about sorrow but also about love, growth, connection, and appreciation for those we have lost.

Finally, gold-standard Centre of Excellence that delivers on its promise — especially in relation to death, dying, grief, & loss within Global Majority communities.& supporting those who care for them or provide scaffolding so we WIN

These days, finding a company or service that is not only high quality and fit for purpose, but also genuinely decolonised and truly equipped to work with the communities they claim to serve, can feel almost impossible. However, I can honestly say that after signposting, suggesting or directly referring a number of individuals, families, organisations, professionals, and businesses to Dipism (Dip. = Death in Practice & ism = system or way of life) Every single person has come back to tell me how impressed they were by both the quality of support and the professionalism of the service provided.

What makes this company stand out is that they do not simply “talk the talk” when it comes to culturally informed and bespoke support — they genuinely deliver. Their interventions, professional coaching, advisory services, training, and systems-based support are all tailored with care, expertise, and authenticity.

What I found especially encouraging about their work around death, dying, grief, and loss for Black, Brown, and Global Majority communities is the way clients, professionals, groups, and organisations are intentionally and compassionately held throughout the entire process. Everyone I referred felt supported, respected, and guided with professionalism and humanity from beginning to end.

In areas as sensitive and complex as grief, loss, and end-of-life support, it is incredibly rare to find such a truly gold-standard service.

Thank you to DIPISM, Laura D Pusey, and the exceptional, Professional yet openly personable team.
