I ordered four Birkin HAC 40 bags
I ordered four Birkin HAC 40 bags, each costing $6,000, and unfortunately my experience was extremely disappointing.
The bags I received have multiple serious flaws:
1. Weight: The bags are noticeably lighter than the originals. My first impression was that they felt lighter, and after weighing, each bag is only 1.9 kg, whereas a genuine HAC 40 is normally around 2.3 kg. This is likely due to thinner leather.
2. Leather positioning: While not immediately obvious from the outside, some leather pieces inside are positioned incorrectly.
3. Top measurements and handle placement: The most noticeable issue is the top section, which has smaller measurements than it should. This causes the handles to be positioned in an unbalanced and awkward way. As seen in the left picture, there is almost no space between the handle and the stitching — a clear indication that the bag is not genuine at first glance. This flaw will be most noticeable on the gold Togo leather bag.
When I raised these issues, the seller responded:
“HAC 40 and 50 are made by our partner factory, which we use to service our customers with bags our own factory doesn’t produce. For example, standard Birkin 40 are produced by our own factory, as we only make bags where we have purchased the authentic before, therefore everything is as the authentic.” — Sandra
While I understand that these bags are made by a partner factory, the issues are not minor “differences” — they are clear indicators that the bags do not meet the standards of genuine Birkin HAC 40s. Given the high price paid, these discrepancies are unacceptable.
I cannot recommend this seller. Buyers should be very cautious and verify all details before placing an order.
