Misleading promises, incompetent AI, and nonexistent support
My experience with Direct REI has been extremely disappointing. The platform is marketed as an AI-powered real estate system that can automate important tasks, but in actual use, the “AI” is unable to perform many of the functions a real estate investor or agent would reasonably expect.
I was told that Oliver could handle and automate useful activities, but Oliver proved to be completely ineffective. It could not reliably carry out the practical tasks I needed, and the outbound AI calling could not even be scheduled or launched automatically. I had to open the dialer and manually initiate every calling session myself. That is not meaningful automation.
The system also could not automatically verify whether a property listing was still active before contacting the owner. SMS and email sequences did not properly coordinate without additional workflows, meaning a reply through one channel did not necessarily stop communication through the other. After receiving a response, the system did not automatically classify the lead, apply the appropriate tags, update the pipeline stage, cancel conflicting tasks, or create the correct follow-up. Much of that still required manual work or additional automations that the customer had to build.
This defeats the purpose of paying for an allegedly specialized AI real estate platform. It feels more like a collection of features and promises layered over a CRM than a dependable, finished system.
Even worse, customer service did not respond to my emails. When a company promotes extensive capabilities but then disappears when those capabilities do not work as expected, it becomes very difficult to trust either the product or the claims being made about it.
Direct REI may look impressive during a presentation, but my actual experience was a system that required extensive manual intervention, an AI assistant that could not perform the necessary work, and support that was essentially unavailable. I would not recommend paying for this service unless they substantially improve both the product and their customer support.
