Warning

Warning: We booked a €16/day deal with “no hidden fees” through Discover Cars — and it was a complete trap. The car had no insurance for tires, wheels, or scratches while parked, even if caused by someone else. They held a €1,000 deposit over our heads, which could be taken for any minor damage, then pressured us to buy a costly insurance upgrade — more than double the original price. Discover Cars is just an aggregator, doesn’t provide real coverage, and the whole experience felt misleading, stressful, and unfair. Avoid at all costs.

Absolutely terrible experience using…discovercars.com

Absolutely terrible experience using this company for car rental. My husband and I recently went on a trip to Norway and rented a car through this company. When we got to the airport I was unwell and we reached the car rental which was thrifty and were told that because we were half an hour late the car had been given to someone else. We paid upfront almost 900 pounds and were not reimbursed and not given a car . This ruined our holiday and we have had nothing back

Never use this company as their agreements are useless. I booked a car through them for full to full fuel and the hire company automatically charged me for their fuel even though I returned it full.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS

There app gives you great rates, mine was through Goldcar, when you try and pick the car up they want 20 Euro a day more for insurance or they take a deposit. I opted for the deposit but.... when they refund it they charge for extras and give a different exchange rate so a 10 day car hire ended up costing £102 more that I paid on the app and they are no help whatsoever when you contact them just hiding behind hidden charges.

WARNING for discovercars, Budget and Avis

WARNING!!! Be CAREFUL.

Would like to warn about Discovercars, Budget and Avis.

Hired car and paid what it was supposed to cost. No extra charges it said, petrol full to full, no deposit etc. However, on collection they wanted my credit card and for me to sign a small box for petrol deposit which I did. No new contract was shown to me as I signed in online. And there too I have not applied for anything extra.

But now after I received an invoice for 127 euros which they have deducted for petrol and road assistance?
Therefore went to the airport and Avis, Budget they were of course Nothing can do but refer to email contact with the head office. After much ado I got a refund for petrol but not for roadside assistance. They claim that I have signed.

So be CAREFUL when you sign a small box in good faith. Demand paperwork on it right away and go through to make sure it matches the original and what you ordered. Do not trust that them!!! Bloody scammers. 😡🤬🤬🤬

Jordan, Paula and Leo are very helpful

I am shocked to read some of the negative reviews about this company. I have had occasions to contact them, regarding a booking and have found them to be speedy in response, informative and accurate in their directions and extremely polite and courteous in their responses. I will name those I have dealt with, Jordan, Paula and Leo, who are Customer Service Associates.

My partner is an English teacher and she points out that, judging by the content of the negative reviews and the grammer and punctuation contained within them, it would be wise to ignore these reviews. I totally agree with her.

TAMPA Airport - it was a scam!!!

As others said, not reputable at all. Say no hidden fees, but the Yours Company in Tampa was a scam, wanted an additional $800 when we got to the off site office. Discover cars refused to refund, even though they advertise no hidden fees. BEWARE!

Car hire with Discover cars - price offered is a scam

I booked a car on Money Supermarket for a hire car (USA) through Discover cars. I immediately received an email to say they were waiting for the car supplier to confirm. It took almost 24 hours to receive an email and of course it said the car was not available and made an alternative offer which was over £100 more expensive. I checked again on Money Supermarket and the cars are still advertised at the original price but clearly not available at that price. This is just a 'fraud' to get you to book with them. Avoid them as not worth it. I will be following this up with Money Supermarket too as I have lost faith in them too if they are allowing this to happen.

If it’s too good to be true

If it’s too good to be true, there’s a chance it is- I booked last minute with discovercars. It’s a huge scam. I tried to hang in there for as long as I could, in hopes of beating them at their own game, but I didn’t have the stamina.

You will wait for hours. Upon finally getting to talk to someone, they will come up with other obstacles that will end in you needing to pay more money. I ended up losing the deposit and taking a taxi to my hotel, which is what the company is hoping for.

Either way, this company is a bunch of gross heathens praying on unsuspecting travelers, all to make quick money. May karma find them. Avoid at all costs.

BEWARE IT'S A SCAM!!!!

BEWARE IT'S A SCAM!!!!

We waited for the rental place employee to show up for 5 hours. After multiple calls and multiple promises that he's on the way we gave up and left. I never expected that any company would leave customer's waiting for five ours!!! We had 3 kids with us (one of them a baby)!!!!!! We lost a deposit, not talking about all taxi fairs...
Yes, it's cheap and that what makes this company very tempting. But looks like I'm one of many customers which was scammed... Don't even recommend for an enemy....

HUGE SCAM - DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM

HUGE SCAM - DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM... I booked my car with them for London England, only to find out that they require a $4000 security block on your credit card even with full coverage insurance paid for the rental. So I cancelled, and they DO NOT REFUND YOU, they provide a credit for future rental with the SCAMMERS... WORST RENTAL COMPANY...

I would give zero stars (or negative) if I could. Horrible and extremely dishonest company. They do not give money back and stop responding to emails. Do not use this absolutely awful company. They are thieves.

HORRIBLE in every way

HORRIBLE in every way. They charged me a reservation fee to ensure I had a vehicle when I get to the rental car place. When I got there they didn’t have a car so I cancelled the reservation. Since then I have been trying to get my money back for almost a month as they did not provide a service they promised for the fee. Total rip off and they ignore my emails and will not call me back. DO NOT USE THEIR SITE.

USE DISCOVER CARS AT YOUR OWN RISK

I have been dealing with the Discoverer cars in Latvia and they have been a NIGHTMARE. I have asked for a new confirmation after some changes and a refund on the insurance. Even though I have a confirmation number from Discover car they keep saying I do not have a reservation with them. So I have sent a copy of the confirmation form which was sent when I made the booking, and also the proof that they have taken nearly a 1000 our from my account. I have also notified them that I have been in contact with the small claims office for the EU ,and I till take steps if they refuse to refund the insurance and send the new confirmation.
My suggestions , if you are thinking off using Discover cars, DON'T.
I finally got some resolution, however it should not have taken nearly a month to get it sorted out. They need to get their customer service staff better trained and to be more helpful and courteous to their customers. They need to do a lot of work to get the trust with their customers back.

Bad experience

My flight was delayed for 3 hours so inotified the rental company about late arrival to Miami by phone.
When i got to Miami, i found the rental company (Americars) is located a few kilometers away from the airport. I only got an answering machine when i called them.
I was left without a car and without deposit.
Avoid both companies at all costs!
