Dogsnhomes Rescue is a UK-registered dog rescue charity based in Church Crookham, Hampshire. Founded in 2019 by Gary Baxter and Michelle Ballard, we are a volunteer-led, foster-based rescue with no kennels. Our mission is to give abandoned and unwanted dogs the opportunity to live safe, happy and fulfilling lives. We primarily rescue dogs from Portugal, where abandonment remains a significant problem, while also helping UK dogs when our foster capacity allows. The dogs travel to the UK aboard our specially equipped “Happy Bus” and are cared for in family foster homes until they join their adopters. Every adoption is approached carefully and responsibly. Applicants complete an adoption form, speak with a member of our team and undergo a video home check. We aim to match each dog with the right household based on temperament, lifestyle, experience and individual needs—not simply on who applies first. Dogs arriving from Portugal are fully vaccinated and receive comprehensive veterinary preparation. This includes microchipping, parasite treatment, rabies vaccination, a Uranotest Quattro screening for several Mediterranean diseases, testing for canine brucellosis and their own Portuguese pet passport. Where age-appropriate, dogs are also neutered before travelling. Our support does not end when a dog is adopted. We provide adopters with practical settling-in guidance and remain available if advice or assistance is needed. Dogsnhomes Rescue is proud to have Sir Tim Peake as its patron and to have received the Prime Minister’s Points of Light award in recognition of our voluntary work. Our charity registration number is 1183775.

I volunteered to foster dogs with…

I volunteered to foster dogs with Dogs’n’homes and I fostered three puppies before they went to their forever homes and during that time I was given so much help and support by Gary, Michelle and their wonderful team. I started 16 months ago and I am still volunteering at events, dog walks and just generally helping out. Being part of Dogs’n’homes is like being part of a big, loving & caring family. For everyone involved the needs of the dogs are the highest priority. So if you are looking to adopt a dog or puppy you should look no further. You will receive all the help, advice and aftercare you could possibly need.
