With regards to the call out that you had received by one of our engineers, as you know, the CCTV inspection you received was charged at £0, industry standard would usually range from £95 to £175+ for a look and see survey, depending on the property variants.
Company policy is that all rates are given at the booking stage and then reiterated by the engineer on site before any works go ahead as you mentioned above, we then require the customer to sign and agree the rates as done, to ensure transparency and clarity. As you mentioned, the underground pipework contained roots throughout the run, in a lot of cases, where root growth is severe, it can end up weakening the pipework once removed therefore this is why the repair works were informed of on site. As youve also stated, you did not wish to proceed and therefore the engineers left the site as requested.
Unfortunately we struggle to accept the term ''I'm giving Drain City the opportunity on a public forum to prove they're honest'' relating to a £100 refund. Honesty comes from our company policies, qualifications and engineer experience on site to be able to inform customers of the best routes to take in scenarios like this - Not be publicly demanded a £100 refund in return for a 1 star to change to a 5 star review, this does not show honesty to other customers, only we accept refunding customers in return for good reviews, in our view, this could not be anymore of a dishonest action as a company. This is essentially us paying you £100 to change an honest review, and as we said, we appreciate all reviews.
Amongst this, the final bill was £145 + VAT (as you know, VAT is a government tax and therefore not added funds by us as a company) and therefore refunding £100 would leave £74 including VAT (otherwise labelled as £61+VAT) for this call out which is based on customer service staff available 24-7, 365 days of the year in our office, travel time, 2 x qualified, insured and experienced engineers on site (we operate 2 engineers when any machinery is used under safety regulations with machinery), no call out charge, a fully equipped drainage van and a CCTV inspection using incredibly expensive equipment, unfortunately our family run business wouldn't last very long if we offered this to every customer.
Whilst we do take pride in our customer service, customer return rate and customer satisfaction, we would be happy to reduce any further call outs, should you need us, by a discounted rate in the future.
