Dismissive Fragility & Ego to a 2nd Opinion on Root Canal/Extraction

I had been suffering acute temperature based and general pain levels on a rear upper molar to consider treatment a real emergency.

I booked & attended Dr Cosmo on Monday 27th July 2026, who advised a Root Canal [Not a fan thereof] or a full extraction of the effected tooth.

We booked for the Wednesday 29th July 2026. With me having to make a decision one way or another on the root canal or extraction.

As fate would have it I was also due to take my wife to Nicosia to have her stitches out on a dental extraction of her own, at a different practitioner.

We requested a few minutes after what was likely to be a short stop for my wife, for a second take on my x-ray and an opinion that may support one option or the other, from the Nicosia practitioner.

I called Dr Cosmo on the appointed day, and faced a stark tonal change, after mentioning canvassing a secondary opinion for the decision I should make.

He referenced not caring for someone who was "Second Guessing me". The Tone was both rude, unprofessional, and deeply offended, as if insulted and he was dismissive to a paying client for undertaking research.

His opinion was accepted after the discussion, but he refused the extraction rudely, like we were some salesmen on his doorstep, not a paying client in pain, wanting just to make the correct decision.

In a future world of growing AI, and a strong focus on oral hygience in wholistic health general, these decisions take on far greater importance.

The level of ~Ego, Fragility and pivot to scorn, was shocking and not becoming of trained schooled professional.

Right of Admission should apply for all who serve the public, members of the public can be unreasonable.

Any professional can and should be allowed to politely refuse to serve a difficult customer with grace.

I however was calm and respectful throughout however with the sole focus being making a correct, conscious decision, not under pressure last minute in the chair.

Cosmo displayed weakness, irritation and dismissive behaviour.

Let all be aware of this fragility, you are one question away from his belligerence and denial of service even if in pain.

Consider other options.
