I gave Drivalia one star because, although I acknowledge that the cancellation of the reservation was partly my fault — as I failed to notice that the security deposit could only be paid with a credit card — I do not consider the way the situation was handled to be fair. I agreed with the local representative that we would return the following day with my wife, who has a valid credit card, and she would be added to the contract as an additional driver. Despite this agreement, the reservation was cancelled in the meantime. Rebooking the car at the local office would have cost almost two and a half times more than the original online price, plus an additional fee for the second driver. Previously, with another rental company, we were able to pay the deposit using a debit card, which is why I find it especially unacceptable that even a partial refund of the prepaid amount was refused.
Awful customer service. We needed to contact the company whilst we were renting the car and they have zero customer service. We tried emailing them several times and received no reply and tried calling them, again with no reply. It is outrageous to not allow customers to communicate important queries
We booked a rental car for four days, and although we arrived on the correct day, we were slightly late for the scheduled pickup time. We were unaware that the booking required us to arrive exactly at the specified time, as this was not clearly stated during the booking process. When we approached the receptionist to explain the situation, she simply told us, “I’m sorry, but we can’t give you a car. You’ll need to rebook.”
This means we would have to pay the full amount again, even though we did show up on the same day. They classified it as a “no‑show,” which we find unreasonable — a no‑show should apply when a customer fails to appear for the entire day, not when they arrive later than expected.
What made the situation worse was the lack of assistance or empathy. The staff member did not offer any alternative solutions, did not try to help us find another vehicle, and showed no compassion for the inconvenience caused. We found this response unprofessional and disappointing.
We hope the company will make their policies clearer in their terms and conditions, especially regarding strict pickup times, to prevent other customers from experiencing the same issue. It is extremely frustrating to lose £116 for a four‑day booking simply because we were not aware of this rule.
We also attempted to contact Drivalia customer service for support, but no one answered our calls, which added to our frustration.
I have been scammed by Drivalia in a non-funny way. I returned the car in the same condition as I took but then I got the invoice that claimed that I didn't return the car on time. I had a long conversation through emails where I sent my flight tickets with dates, other proofs that I left Venice on time. But they denied anyway and charged extra day.
Total nightmare of a company.
Pre booked. Arrived at the agreed time. They said they didn’t have any cars. Asked when, told ‘who knows’.
Sat with 3 children for almost 3 hours repeatedly asking for information but with the rudest one single man working there who wouldn’t give any. Just kept saying 20 minutes again and again.
Truly awful avoid at all costs.
Good service, the car doesn't have the battery to make 400 km as the dealer said. The autonomy was about 160 km.

The subscription model from Drivalia fills a gap in the Italian market for longer term, flexible car usage, they are most welcome. As sometime happens, the attention to details offers space for improvement. This morning my CarCloud vehicle was released after someone sprayed a CocaCola can on the passenger seat, all wet and with several very visible stains on the dashboard. Windows were not cleaned either, and a visit to a workshop will be required to fix the A/C, not working although the car is almost new. The cleaning staff of rental companies must be taught higher quality standard if the companies aspire to higher evaluations. I rented cars from the Americas to Europe, Middle East and Asia and such car conditions and lack of attention to details would not be accepted in those markets.

Canceled our reservation just before we were going to pick it up.

Absolutely terrible experience. We have just waited 3 hours at Rome Fumicino airport and didn't even make to the front of the queue to speak to staff to even start our booking. In the end we contacted booking.com (who we booked it through) and arranged to rebook with Hertz instead. This was our worst ever car hire experience and we have lost the first afternoon of our holiday. Really really poor service. Lots of other people waiting 3+ hours for their car too.

I booked a Fiat 500 because I needed a small car for the narrow streets of Sicily. Instead, I was given a big white builder’s van( ford tourneo), which was over a more than meter larger and completely unsuitable for driving in small Italian streets. The car was dirty, not vacuumed, and there was rubbish in the storage compartments. Very disappointing service and absolutely not what I booked.

I can never reach anyone at Drivalia, the stores or the customer service line. I also waited in line for over 3 hours to pick up my rental.

Electricity was overcharged at the end. I signed a vehicle with no overcharge and it was however charged. This bad experience ruined the whole renting experience. Otherwise one of the car had a poor battery. Good service when taking the car, poor service at restitution.

The problem of waiting for a long time because there are no employees and I received the car is not clean, there is no water to clean the car glass

The worst rental company I’ve ever dealt with. I have a lot more to say, but I’ll keep it short. Very disappointing experience from start to finish. Future clients should be careful before renting here.

Good to talk to the representative, who quickly understood my issues and resolve it. However, the website needs a lot of improvements, as there are several issues like inputing a USA number, blocked me to complete the profile which prevented me to make a reservation, and so on... I have seen similar issues with other sites, which means probably the provider for the platform they use is not a good one.

The wait to get the car at the Florence airport was very long. When we returned the car in Rome they said there were 2 new scratches that weren’t on the Florence report. We had taken a video and pictures of the car on pick up and we showed the Rome attendant the pictures we had that showed the scratches were pre-existing. He said that he couldn’t do anything about that and that the Florence office would need to change their original report. We called and emailed the Florence office but no one answered. Called drivalia customer support 5 times but we were put on hold and eventually disconnected. We refused to sign the Rome drop off report but they were charging our credit card for $589 euro’s even though we had proof that we did not cause the scratches
We emailed drivalia and they requested our pictures in JPEG and PDF format as well as a copy of our rental agreement which they had sent to us??? I had to email them several times because the files were to large to send

Arrived Fiumicino Airport at 10:40 a.m. to drop off rental car and catch our 12:15 flight. Not one person was working at the Drivalia car return station. Looked all around, couldn't find anyone to accept the car. We left the key on their desk, very visibly in their work area.
A few hours later they emailed us the receipt. They claimed the car was dropped off at 12:47 and charged us an extra day! But wait there's more: they charged us exactly €100 in additional fraudulent charges, claiming the car had some kind of exterior damages. There was not one scratch on this car!
It is now clear why no one was working: they want you to leave the keys there in frustration, so they can rip you off and you're not there to defend yourself.
Stay away from this car rental company. They are BAD NEWS.
