Be very careful when booking...

Firstly, the instructors and hot lap drivers were great.

However, be very careful when booking to find out exactly what you will be getting.
For example they say 3 laps in each car - what you actually get is 1 real complete lap plus the out and in lap.
Organisation is not great either. We arrived on a very cold day and were told to go for the safety briefing. This eventually happened in a very cold room, no refreshments were provided or even the facility to buy them but the guy doing the briefing had his own nice hot cup of coffee.
The safety briefing is nothing to do with safety. As far as I could see it was just a means of a) prolonging the time so you seem to be there longer, b) selling you more stuff (extra rides, pictures, video etc).

The whole time when you are not driving is spent trying to sell you more stuff.
This is only really worth it if you have lots of spare cash and can try lots of cars.

Badly organised and let down

I purchased a supercar experience for my husband, for his 40th birthday from buy a gift.co.uk.

Once purchased you choose which track is suitable for you to visit and you're then allocated to that driving experience company, in our case Driving Experience.co.uk.

We chose the Donington Heritage track, local to us and were given a time slot of 10.45 on Saturday 24 June 2017.

On arrival, check in was easy - although two of my husband's chosen supercars weren't available as they had broken down - we were given the option to re-book - it would have been nice to have had a phone call earlier that day to save the trip, had we decided to e-book, however we chose two other cars as we were looking forward to the day generally with our two boys.

The check-in staff did not advise us of the process or how the next couple of hours would go. We made our way outside and it was obvious that people were queuing so my husband joined - this was for the car that took you around the track. On returning, the driver advised my husband to go back to him later as he had a passenger ride with him. We then proceeded to wait and wait and wait.

The whole day was unorganised, people were being called to cars when they had already gone out in another car and more than one person was being called to one car!

However, we appreciated the fact that they were two cars down but the whole process could have been a lot better organised.

After 45 minutes we queried when my husbands turn would be and were told that we should have reported to another chap after being taken around the track! Now wouldn't you have thought that, that driver taking the new customers around the track would have a list of who he's taken and then give that list to the two people calling out the people to take their experience?

My husband was called shortly after for the first of his 4 supercar experiences - whilst he thoroughly enjoyed each car there was atleast a 30 minute wait between each car.

So we arrived at 10.15 for our booked experience at 10.45 and at 1.30 my husband had, had his experiences and waited for his passenger lap - which was quite disappointing - they filled a type R and my husband sat in the back and the experienced driver didn't even reach the speeds on the track that my husband did!!!

After his experience we decided that we would mark the day by purchasing a photo and video package. My husband's favourite car make of all time is Ferrari and after driving a California was looking forward to having his picture driving this! At the ordering desk the lady couldn't find the Ferrari pictures, nor the video's. She was asking us the time that he took his experiences! - now you get given a small sheet detailing the cars to be experienced in your package - how hard would it be for the professional instructor to mark the time that you got in and out so that photos could be found easily?

After 20 minutes she called over a manager who also took a look. We found the Porsche, jaguar and Lamborghini pics but no Ferrari. My husband explained that, that was his favourite car of all time and would want that picture as memorabilia. The manager proceeded to print off an a4 size picture of him in the jag, put the "photos " of the above cars on disc and put the "videos" of each car onto a usb. At this point there was probably a twenty deep queue. The man called my husband over taking him away from the crowd and gave him these on the house, apologised for the delay and asked him to write down our email so that he could email to us the Ferrari pictures once found. He also told us that the Ferrari video needed VLC to hear the sound, which we had at home.

Obviously this appeared to be a benefit to us. He seemed to recognise that we had been delayed and said he would email the missing photos.

On returning home, the photo disc had photos of the jag, Porsche and Lamborghini. But not all of them, only one of each. On the usb, the video's were there, in not one but all of the cars the battery was going and so this kept flashing up and so half the drive was missed and as for the sound in the Ferrari there was clearly a short on the microphone in the car as sound kept coming on, after taking certain corners - nothing whatsoever to do with having to play it through a VLC player!

Needless to say, a week later - no Ferrari photos!

Me and my husband are looking to do another supercar experience together and certainly wont be using Driving Experience. co.uk or via buy a gift, as that way you don't get a choice of who you take your experience with, only the area/venue.
