DXRacer products are going down..
I am very disappointed with DXRacer and their products, and I wonder what happened to them, as they used to be one of the best gaming product companies with the now-defunct AKRacing.
I recently bought two products from DXRacer: the first was a master XL chair ($549 pricetag), and the second was a Tidal desk ($699 pricetag). I bought the chair from Amazon and the desk straight from their website.
First, let's start with the chair. Built it, and the first impression was that it was very uncomfortable. The foam they use is way too dense; it's harder than rocks and makes long sitting sessions impossible. This goes against the purpose of a gaming chair; it's supposed to be comfy for long gaming sessions, and clearly, that chair couldn't achieve that. Add to it the fact that the headrest mechanism broke within less than two weeks of using it, which screams poor quality, I ended up returning it and got refunded for it.
Now for the Tidal desk, it is a pretty good quality desk, very heavy and sturdy, but that's literally it and does not explain the $700 pricetag because it has flaws. First, my desk did not arrive all at once. It's made of three packages, and FedEx screwed up the delivery, so I got the legs first and had to wait an extra two days to get the actual desk/board. What was bad was that the wooden part of the desk arrived completely scratched, so badly that it was like someone used a knife to carve and cut through it, yet it looks like QC at DXRacer missed it or couldn't be bothered, so they shipped it. After the reception, I immediately reached out to their support, sent them pictures (via email, after showing them their website is so poorly done it's impossible to attach pictures and/or videos to the support ticket), and they agreed to send a replacement board for free. All hail to them on this!
Another week goes by, and I finally received the last part of the desk and built it. The first surprise was to see that there is no computer case/tower holder. Yet, on their website, the product's pictures showcased a case holder that was going up and down with the desk. I contacted them and was told that they had no such feature, but I could buy it on Amazon or third party companies. Sorry, but why do you advertise a feature that is not coming with your product, then? This was totally misleading. The pictures are still on their website, showing the TIDAL desk lifting an Alienware mid-range computer case.
Now, for the desk itself, you actually cannot add a screwed-in tower/case holder because the leg structure gets in the way. But you cannot add a clamped one either cause the lifting system is on the inside the legs, not the outside, so you cannot clamp it without causing a dysfunction.
Another issue I have with that desk is the lighting system, which is RIDICULOUSLY BAD! It's that bad that you can't even set up a static colour except for white. Yeah, you read that right. It has an LED lighting feature but barely any customisation, only their dumb rainbow pre-setup modes. All my setup is purple and orange, so I was looking forward to having a static purple light bar on that desk... NOPE! Not even possible. All you have are the rubbish rainbow round, rainbow flashing, rainbow carousel, a static white light (wow!) and then 3 RGB round settings, Rouge (Red to orange, via pink), Starry Sky (Blue to purple) and Firefly (Green to yellow). Seriously, not impressed! I was expecting way more from a seven-hundred-dollar desk! This lighting system is made for a 4-year-old, not an adult gamer.
Long story short, I gave them two stars only because of their support team (would have been just one if not for them), which was reactive and prone to help with all the issues I encountered. For the rest, their products are of pretty poor quality, not meeting the expectations they set on their website and clearly not worth the money.
