They neglected to pay the $50 monthly…

They neglected to pay the $50 monthly fee. I chased them and it took nearly 3 weeks to collect the money from them. Suddenly the money showed up in our account with Dynanode giving us a transaction number to prove they paid. We contacted the back to discover that they had paid just 3 days before the confirmation number showed up.

I have been snooping their network traffic to make sure nothing seedy is happening (I am responsible for my network after all!). I can tell you that they are using a few Wireguard VPN tunnels from the RPi4 "server" to their system. I can see occasional DNS lookups and a few PING's but nothing other than that. What I cannot see is the traffic from the 5G cellular router. I suspect that it is doing something and then relaying it over the VPN back to Dynanode.

Extremely Scammy - BEWARE

This company posts frequent ads on CraigsList looking for people to host a couple devices on their home network for $50/month. Company is extremely spotty with details, particularly with how the device provides 'cloud hosting' as described on their website. Speaking with a tech it was slipped that these devices end up scraping various websites which can only be done from residential IP addresses (which is why so many websites now have the 'Are you a human' verification). Hosting a device like this is very likely against residential ISP acceptable use terms. Their sales team is also extremely unresponsive, particularly after asking a few technical questions.
