Would never use this company

Would never use this company. They don’t even have their own technicians or service they just subcontract out. Canceled my service and they charged me $300 for early cancellation which they never disclosed except in the terms of agreement hidden in the fine print email they sent over. Pretty much forcing me to buy the router because they don’t do returns because obviously they don’t even have their own equipment. Kind of a joke a company just making money off of others with hidden fees and other people’s products.
My other major issue is the Internet worked great for the first week or two and then incredibly slow down after that. I was paying for a half a gig and only averaging 70 Mbps.

EarthLink partners with established local service providers to deliver internet service, which is a common industry practice and allows us to offer coverage in many areas. While technicians may be subcontracted, they are certified to perform installations and service support.

Regarding the early termination fee, this charge is disclosed during the enrollment process and is outlined in the service agreement. Customers are provided the Terms and Conditions via email or text message prior to completing the order, and acceptance of those terms is required to proceed with activation. We also send the terms in the Welcome Email once the sale has been completed. The early termination fee applies when service is canceled prior to the end of the agreed service term.

As for the modem, EarthLink equipment is returnable when applicable, provided it is sent back according to the return instructions. If there was any confusion regarding the return process or equipment ownership, we regret that this was not clearly communicated, but we do send out an email once the cancellation has been completed we send out the cancellation confirmation that provides the return label.

Regarding the internet speed concerns, advertised speeds are up to the plan maximum and may vary due to network conditions, usage, equipment, or external factors. While it is encouraging that the service initially performed well, we regret that performance later declined. Customers experiencing speed issues are encouraged to contact technical support so troubleshooting and escalation can be completed prior to cancellation.

I regret that your experience did not meet expectations and appreciate your feedback, as it helps us identify areas for improvement.

Connecting to the new fiber internet

I was impressed by the installers and how they solved a difficult wire connection problem in my home. They were courteous and efficient. I was asked if I would like to change my internet, not forced. The installer was right on time and didn't give up when. The box he needed wasn't where it was supposed to be. Which obviously made his job ten times harder.

I had been a customer of Earthlink for…

I had been a customer of Earthlink for over 5 years. They sent an email stating I could upgrade from wire DSL to fiber cable for no fee and no installation charge. Earthlink said the billing will be the same as what I've been paying. Earthlink told me once my fiber cable was installed the old wire DSL service will be canceled and the fiber cable it will just continue with no fees. After the fiber was installed I got a bill for double my monthly payment. I called their third world call center... and asked why and what's going on. The operator said I didn't cancel my DSL account so I was billed for the DSL and for fiber. I explained how the the person I upgraded with told it would automatically cancel. They got a supervisor involved... the supervisor wouldn't get on the phone in the back ground I heard him say we do not refund customers... I should have canceled it myself. So asked if it might could rolled over to pay for the next month payment. The supervisor was rude to the operator I was talking to... and yelled we do not do things like that. So I said you're fired. Earthlink... I will never do business with criminals like that again. Not an honest company... buyer beware!

They showed when they said they would.

My tech showed up on time and he was quick but thorough. I am having a little trouble with my connectivity but that is my connection is for my older streaming which was lower and my faster internet now. HDMI cable that is like trying to explain the internet to me. Way over my age level (75)
