What more does one really need? Capital city, great location, so much to see and experience –no one actually wants to spend more time at a hotel other than to sleep and shower, right? Derogatory Behaviour

I stayed at easyHotel Berlin near Hackescher Markt/Rosenthaler Platz and had a very upsetting experience.

After checking out, several of my personal belongings were left in the room by mistake, including a backpack, clothing, chargers, and skincare items. These were clearly not rubbish. They were personal property.

Instead of storing these items as lost property, they were thrown away by housekeeping.

When I contacted the hotel to recover my belongings, I was met with an extremely unprofessional and hostile response. Rather than trying to help or take responsibility, management focused on blaming me and making exaggerated claims about the room instead of addressing the real issue.

The tone of their email was disrespectful and dismissive. There was no empathy, no proper investigation, and no genuine effort to resolve the situation.

Mistakes happen in any hotel. What matters is how they are handled. In this case, it was handled badly.

If you stay here, be aware that if something goes wrong, you may not receive fair or supportive treatment.

I would not stay here again and cannot recommend this hotel.

Good value stay

The reception staff are what makes this hotel good. All lovely, friendly and helpful. Explain everything to you at check in and nothing is too much trouble. The location is superb, plenty of eateries and bars on the doorstep. Train/tram station around the corner to help you explore berlin. The room was decent although the cleaner attending to the room next door at 830am was not nice, I'm on holiday and don't want to be woken up so early (730am UK home time).

Thievery

Booked at easyHotel Berlin Hackescher Markt for the Lollapalooza festival in September, which was just cancelled due to COVID-19. Was told by the hotel my reservation is non-refundable, the festival cancellation has nothing to do with COVID-19 and they are refunding people only while the borders remain closed. Called Booking.com to which they stated there is nothing they can do as they are not even allowed to contact the hotel directly because the hotel specifically stated they don’t want booking.com to contact them. Could be a bit more empathetic during this pandemic. Even the airlines gave me a voucher! Not a good look for this hotel. I hope my bad reviews cost you much more money than you are stealing from me, and more than likely many others, that need to cancel for the same reason.
