We instructed Eatons (Bingley) to go ahead without one piece of info that they wanted confirming twice, which was not a legal requirement, but was not forthcoming. THEY DID NOT FOLLOW OUR INSTRUCTION and insisted that they knew best.

At the initial meeting Mr Stephen Gilbey stated he charged £120 and hour. He later denied this and charged £280 an hour. As I had left the country I had no option but to continue. If you use him ensure you get, in writing the cost!

I wanted to make a property purchase last year and although some things did not go right, Eatons take their complaints extremely seriously and put the customer client first and foremost, my complaint was handled with care and resolved to my full satisfaction, Micheala was really good and went out of her way to help me, I would recommend Eatons to customers, they have been around for many decades so they must be doing things right, Eatons have a lot of good solicitors and lawyers working for them, the fact that they might have had 1 who was not as good should not put people off 95% of their workers solicitors are good excellent

We purchased a flat through EWE Move Hebden Bridge branch. Eatons Solicitors were the Vendors Solicitors. We found Eatons slow and very unhelpful and slow to respond to our solicitors enquiries. They took seven weeks before we received an initial response from Eatons re the purchase. This was going to make it difficult to complete from the off.

We were selling out property and downsizing. We excepted an offer on our property and we then put an offer in for a flat, which was excepted and we received the sale of the memorandum on 18th May.
We stressed to Ewe Move that we need to complete the sale by the start of October, due to our buyers mortgage offer running, out by that time. Eatons were made aware of this deadline from our solicitor.
We had a number of questions that our solicitor was unsure about, These were fundamental questions that pertained to its legal status.

We didn't know whether the property was leasehold or not. Our Solicitors contacted us to inform the agent, the vendors and the vendor's Solicitors. That being a flat it needed an up-to-date fire certificate (post Grenfell). However, Eatons then failed to respond to questions from our solicitor. This then ended up with us having the sell our property while we were trying to get the agent, the vendor and vendors Solicitor to get this certificate in place. We were in temporary accommodation for a further three weeks. I expect a solicitor to have all the right legal documents in place at the start of the sale. This was not the case and the Solicitors lack of urgency to rectify this was poor to the point of incompetence. It felt that they did not care, because we were not their direct client. When faced with something outside the norm they seemed to ignored our solicitors requests for action? This lack of diligence; cost us a lot of additional money and real inconvenience. But it was the frustration of Eatons lack of communication with our solicitors, that is so galling. Eatons seemed to feel that we were not their client, so we did not matter! And as we have no recourse against them, they do not need to bother.
