Paid VPS not delivered – several technical red flags
I ordered a VPS from EchelonVPS and paid the requested amount in Bitcoin.
Order reference: EV-KWTK-WM8P
Amount: €14.40
Term: 6 months
Bitcoin amount: 0.00021269 BTC
Payment date: 7 September 2026
The Bitcoin payment was confirmed on-chain. The checkout stated that the VPS would be provisioned after the first network confirmation, but the VPS was not provisioned and I did not receive server credentials.
While trying to understand what was going on, I checked the technical setup of the domain.
The domain echelonvps.com was only created on 28 August 2026, shortly before my order. The registrar is Tucows and the WHOIS data lists FlokiNET Services Ltd as the reseller.
The domain uses Cloudflare nameservers, and DNSSEC was shown as unsigned.
I also checked the domain's mail configuration. A DNS lookup for the MX record returned no mail exchanger, while the site advertises support contact addresses using the @echelonvps.com domain. The only TXT record I observed was a Google site-verification token.
So, more precisely: I could not verify a published MX record for echelonvps.com. That does not prove that no email forwarding or external mail handling exists, but it is unusual for a provider advertising support email addresses.
The website itself is behind Cloudflare and returned HTTP security headers and a redirect to /en.
Certificate-transparency checks only revealed the wildcard certificate and the root domain. Common subdomains such as support, admin, dashboard, payment, payments, checkout, app, dev, staging, monitor, grafana, database, origin, backend and others did not resolve in my DNS checks.
I also observed a potentially concerning issue in the support dashboard: after logging in, I could see ticket content unrelated to my own current request. I cannot confirm whether those were genuine customer tickets or demonstration/sample content, but the interface did not make this clear. For that reason, I would not submit passwords, private keys, API tokens or other sensitive information through that support interface until EchelonVPS clarifies how ticket privacy works.
I preserved screenshots of the order, payment request, blockchain confirmation, support dashboard and a local copy of the public website.
I have also reported the matter to the domain registrar, Tucows, for review.
My experience so far is:
payment was completed,
the Bitcoin transaction was confirmed,
the promised VPS was not delivered,
no server credentials were received,
I could not verify a normal published MX configuration for the advertised support domain,
and the support interface raised privacy concerns.
I am not claiming to know the operator’s intent. I am reporting the technical facts and my own experience.
I will update this review if EchelonVPS provisions the VPS or refunds the payment.
