This company is a SCAM.

This company scans funeral home websites and advertises the sale of flowers to be given to grieving families. This is a scam. When money is spent, there are no flowers that will be arriving. They are preying on grieving families during their darkest hours.

This is a complete lie. We are a legitimate obituary website and all of our orders are fulfilled by local florists via our partner, Blooms Today. Any orders that are not delivered or are delivered late are refunded, as per our policy. You are the funeral home director from Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Homes spreading false information about our company.

Echovita is not a scam. When obituaries are posted publicly on the internet, they become public information. Echovita further shares the basic facts of publicly available obituaries to inform society of who has passed away. Families can remove their loved one's obituary, edit the obituary, or give their permission for us to post the complete original obituary. There is confusion sometimes as to what is public and what is private. If information is published on the internet, and does not require a password to access it, then it is public information, not private. Families can also partake in our solidarity program to claim any amount of money that has been put aside for the family based on sales made on the obituary page.

The flowers I ordered were $60+ for a funeral. I flowers sent to the funeral home where from Shaws. The Shaws sticker for $16.99 was still on them. I would have never known, but my husband was able to attend the funeral and knew what I ordered. As soon as he sent me the picture, I called and got a refund. I was also charged for a candle I never ordered. Needless to say, I was embarrassed with the whole ordeal.
Disappointed!!!

That is an issue regarding the local florist, not Echovita. Echovita is an obituary website. All flower orders are processed by Blooms Today and assigned to a local florist.

NO way to contact you via phone nor your e-mail. Have been trying for two days. E-mails come right back to me. Ordered a 30 day candle to light for my friend. Received a receipt immediately with a charge of 24.99 for an eternity candle. Did not order the eternity candle.

Hi Kathryn,
We received your emails. They didn't go right back to you. You simply received an auto-reply confirming that your email was received. We responded to your email this morning and changed your candle to a 1 month candle, and processed a refund for the difference of $17.00. Thank you.

They NEVER delivered the flowers

They NEVER delivered the flowers: it's scam and been reported as fraudulent site by La Presse's article (2024-04-17)

Full disclaimer following my review and reply from Echovita:

Reply from Echovita
When looking up your name in our system, I can confirm that you DID NOT order any flowers via our website. Second, Echovita is not a scam. Any flower orders placed on our website are processed by Blooms Today, and each order is assigned to a local florist. If, for any reason, an order is not delivered on time, it is refunded.

MD - 1st: I did the review for my sister hence, you won't find my name because it's her who made the order and was still sad about messing up
MD - 2nd: Echovita DID refund the money

You referred to an article written by La Presse, which was full of blatant lies. Please do not be naive and simply believe what you read without asking any questions of your own or doing any research yourself. Our lawyers are working on dealing with the false media.

MD - Righhhht, so I shouldn't believe the written press where they vet the articles by the chief editor before going online with it… If the press isn't trustable... Having said that, I DID check a few things before making my review:

MD - 1) The La Presse's article mentions the lawsuit for copyright infringement where the defendant Afterlife co/Everhere com owned by a Pascal (Paco) Leclerc was hit with $20M judgment
MD - 2) Other news networks and law firms reported the copyright infringement case where the name Pascal (Paco) Leclerc is mentioned and that this person file for bankruptcy afterwards hence, fending to have to pay the judgment: atlantic ctvnews ca/judge-awards-20-million-damages-against-website-that-pirated-obituaries-1.4405826; stewartmckelvey com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/T-38-18-Judgment-Reasons.pdf; financialpost com/pmn/business-pmn/lawsuit-launched-against-obituary-website-alleges-copyright-infringement; theglobeandmail com/canada/article-judge-orders-obituary-website-to-pay-20-million-in-damages-for/; cbc ca/news/canada/newfoundland-labrador/afterlife-obituary-class-action-lawsuit-1.5119601; journaldemontreal com/2022/11/19/des-trous-beants-dans-les-lois-du-quebec
MD - 3) I looked at the company registration public records of Echovita: the name appearing is Paco Leclerc and where the Everhere company is listed as non active since 2020
MD - 4) On the Website Echovita, multiple obits are listed. Ours had a rehashed of the original obits; there a link that mentions that the arrangement is under the supervision of the funeral home; that link goes to… Echovita where an information of the funeral home is listed and inside that box's listing there's a button to send flower. Where does that link button leads to ? You guessed right: Echovita flowers services
MD - 5) I thought that it was only our listing that might suffer from an issue; wrong again I was, other listings on Echovita's obit has a button that mentions sending flowers that leads back to Echovita OR a "…under supervision of (NAME OF FUNERAL HOME)…" that leads to a funeral home listing with the same button we had.
MD - 6) I call directly at the funeral home and they weren't aware that their obit had ended up on Echovita's
MD - 7) How did we find out: a family member went to the funeral home and mentioned they were surprise not to see our flowers.
MD - 8) What is a scam according to Webster's definition ? : a fraudulent or deceptive act or operation.
MD - 9) I don't know about you people (other than the person replying to my review) but when you take obits from other Websites (which has been deemed illegal in prior the court decision), put links and name of funeral homes which don't even know they are mentioned, having these names leads to Echovita's funeral home listing and then Echovita's flower site is deceptive; if it hadn't been reported by our family, we would never have known

I repeat again just to be in full disclaimer: THEY DID REFUND THE MONEY

This review is also false.

MD - Nope, it has actually happened to us as described in the La Press's articles and other warnings I read after the issue we ran into: Echovita copied the original obits from the funeral home, came up 1st in the google search done by my sister when looking the name of the deceased; linked to the funeral home's address with a "send flowers" button sending us to Echovita's Website to send flowers, not the funeral home. I stand by my review.

Order made it on time

I was able to send flowers in lieu of attending a family member’s funeral. I refused to attend due to tensions that arose between extended family members and didn’t want a fight to break out as well as prior commitments. So with this order I was able to be supportive to those who needed comforting without causing unneeded stress. I know the order made it on time as the funeral was live streamed. I even had a family member reach out and thank me for the beautiful arrangement.

We're sorry to hear of your experience. If the local florist comes across any issues with the fulfillment of your order, they are supposed to inform you in advance to give you time to order elsewhere. Please understand that Echovita is an obituary website, not a florist. Users can order flowers on our platform via Blooms Today, and orders are assigned to a local florist, however, Echovita does not handle any flower orders ourselves. Thank you.

Deceitful and disgraceful taking advantage of someone's death

Only reason for one star is because you can't give zero stars... website states they only get obits from funeral homes that send them or families that submit them. That's an outright lie. They have "bots" scouring the internet for obits to steal and then their AI rewrites them so they aren't copyrighting. This is all in an attempt to make money by fooling customers they have legitimately acquired the obit and selling products from their site. You're also supposed to be able to request the obit to be removed. They have refused since I've requested obits be removed on behalf of a grieving family. I have signed authorization by the next of kin to have their loved one's obituary removed from echovita. While they give an appearance to allow funeral directors remove obits for their families, they won't do it. I've emails stating they will not honor requests on behalf of the family... the family must contact them. Outrageous to expect families to have to deal with this while they are grieving. These folks are truly scum for taking advantage of someone's death.

Hello "Adam" or should I say Dean Van Nort from Piper Funeral Home? Leaving a lie as a review is pretty scummy. Our website clearly states that we both aggregate basic facts of public death announcements, and post obituaries submitted by both families and funeral homes. We don't fool our users. You submitted removal requests for approximately 10 obituaries multiple times on different days, each time saying the family requested it's removal, which clearly is not true, and you are submitting them on your own behalf. We approved the removal of quite a few, and then we recognized what it is you were doing, so we began refusing them and told you that families can contact us directly with any questions or concerns they may have, so we can actually tell them the truth about what we do and why we do it. Echovita informs society of who has passed away. You had told us in the past that you will be telling families to sign a document to get you to remove obituaries without telling them what we actually do. You feel entitled over factual information of families you serve. You say that when families come to you to make funeral arrangements for their loved one, you then own their loved one's information. I can only wonder if you actually say that to the families you serve. If you're such a good person, then why lie about your name when leaving a fake review? We've reported this review.

Funeral floral arrangement not delivered

I ordered flowers for a funeral several days in advance and on the day of the funeral I received a message indicating they couldn't deliver to the funeral home and could I give them a different address. This was totally unacceptable. Instead of getting a large arrangement delivered as planned, I had to contact a local florist about an hour before the funeral and all they could deliver was a plant. VERY disappointing. i will never deal with Echovita again.

Hi Judy Kersey,
We are very sorry to hear of your experience. The local florist should have notified you well in advance if there were any issues with your order. Unless of an emergency, there is absolutely no reason for you to have been notified the day of the funeral service. We will be contacting our partner, Blooms Today, to discuss what happened with the local florist, and the local florist will be flagged, so if this happens again, they will not be assigned orders via our website. Please note that Echovita is an obituary website, not a florist.

It's hard to believe that the customer service offered via our partner, Blooms Today, was rude on the phone. They called you to notify you that they were unable to find a local florist in the area to fulfill your order, they cancelled and refunded your order, and said good luck finding someone because they hoped you'd be able to find a local florist that could help you. That is not rude. Not every single local florist in existence works with flower order processing companies like Blooms Today. Some local florists work independently. You were able to contact a local florist who was independent, which is great. Furthermore, Echovita is an obituary website. Sometimes issues can arise with orders assigned to local florists. In a perfect world, we'd all hope that everything goes smoothly.

The flowers we ordered for a funeral…

The flowers we ordered for a funeral never showed up despite ordering 3 days prior to event. Had we not looked for them, we might not have realized that they were not received. The customer service was very understanding and took care of us, but it never should have happened in the first place.

Echovita agrees that your order should have been delivered as scheduled. If, for any reason, the local florist is unable to fulfill the order, they are suppose to advise the customer in advance, so that the customer can attempt to place their order elsewhere. Unfortunately, the local florist didn't inform the customer in advance and therefore, Blooms Today didn't know your order wasn't delivered until after the service since no delivery confirmation was sent through.
