Poor business ethics and communication

Poor business ethics and communication. Supporting bad business ethics at the provider Clickrent, un-satisfying communication during a claims process, and despite having signed up for full insurance. We where claimed for our exces payment. I will never use neither Economy Car Rental nor Clickrent again.

Economy Car Rental - To be avoided.

To be avoided.

It's not a 100% scam, but rather a classical example of short-selling: Economy Car Rental sell you something they don't have - a car at a given place, at a given time, at a given ! price !

They make YOU COMMIT to your order, while they take ZERO RESPONSIBILITY to fullfill it.

They take 12 hours to find you a car that they'd sold to you.

In my case they couldn't find it at the announced price.
I lost 12 hours. In the meantime, the prices with the actual car rentals went up.

Result:
I lost about 100 Euros due to the increased prices.
but most importantly
I lost hours of booking and re-booking a car.

My verdict:
Avoid Economy Car Rental.

Absolutely appalled by the service I received

I am absolutely appalled by the service I received. I paid in full for a 5-day booking with Flex to Go, only to be marked as a “NO SHOW” for arriving just over an hour late after landing at Kraków Airport — something entirely reasonable after a flight.

But the real shock came next: they refused to honour my booking because my credit card was not embossed. In 2025, who still uses embossed cards? That’s when the scam began. They suddenly would accept my non-embossed card — but only if I purchased their in-house excess protection, which cost more than the rental itself. Complete extortion.

To make matters worse, Economy Car Rentals customer service was utterly useless. When I called, they shrugged off the issue and told me the booking was lost due to “NO SHOW,” offering no support or resolution.

This entire ordeal felt like a coordinated scam. I’ve travelled the world and rented cars in countless countries — I’ve never experienced anything like this. In the end, I waited over 3.5 hours and had no choice but to give in to their overpriced protection just to get a vehicle.

Avoid Flex to Go and Economy Car Rentals at all costs. Stick to trusted names like Avis, SIXT, Hertz, Europcar, or Enterprise. You might pay a little more upfront, but you won’t be trapped in scams like this.

This isn’t trolling — it’s an honest warning!!!

Using of unreliable partners

The reservation was made well in advance, but I didn't get the car. The excuse was that my driver's license doesn't have an issue date. However, I rented from Gomore the next day without any problems. And after one week I used another company without problems. Earlier I have used tens of different companies without problems. The real reason was that the prices had gone up and the dishonest company Clickrent wanted to rent to someone else at a higher price. Also one year ago the same licence were ok in same company. However, economy rentals did not refund my booking fee. Carefully study the company's feedback before renting a car. Many companies operate immorally.

No Car and No Compensation

I booked a car rental and paid a deposit in February for collection from Dollar in August. When I arrived at the desk they did not have an SUV as ordered and offered me a saloon car which I declined. They then messed me around for over an hour waiting for a manager to obtain another vehicle, not what you need after a 10 hour flight. They finally issued new paperwork for an SUV and directed me to the parking garage. The vehicle was unfit for rental, it was old with over 50,000 miles, was unclean inside with a really bad smell and stained seats. I asked the agent for another car but he refused and said “it’s that car or nothing, I will refund your rental” I insisted on another car but he refused every time.
I then visited National who were very professional and rented me an SUV at almost twice the price of the Dollar vehicle, however what can you do when you need a car.
When I walked out to collect the National Vehicle I noticed someone from Dollar writing on the old SUV “stop wholesale” apparently this vehicle is not to be rented as going to auction.
I contacted ECR who replied about 20 days later and extremely unhelpful. They failed to gain any apology from Dollar and refused any compensation for the price difference to the National vehicle, obviously more expensive on the day at an Airport location.
I have asked ECR if they have a UK address so I can take legal action but they refuse to answer my email. This is typical of a faceless internet organisation.

TrustpilotThis company is a total sham! The most expensive rental company ever!

This company is a total sham! I have signed a full insurance package for a car rental contract (voucher no. ECF0BE91, dated 22/10/2011) however I was charged approx. £100 extra for a paint damage. The trade partner of Economy Bookings (Economy Car Rentals) rental responded "full insurance does not cover fully!" The local car rental company kept my deposit despite the fact I have paid for the paint damage out of my own pocket at the point of return and despite having had paid for a full insurance at the point of purchase. Economy bookings does not reply to any of my emails sent to them. The local car rental Boycars did not return my deposit despite ensuring me that it would be returned if I had paid for the paint work damage to the car. I have paid for full insurance, additional 50 Euros for damages and they also kept my deposit of 50 Euros. Furthermore Economy Bookings do not respond to any emails sent to them, not a single one! As if the company do not exist! In total the car rental end up being not Economical at all! It cost me over £20 per day to rent a car from Economy Booking.com, where is the economy in that!

A more user friendly booking record

I would find it much easier to find my bookings with Economycarrental if they were ALL available in one place online.

Currently each booking requires a separate "Voucher" at Login and only shows me one booking.

"Voucher" numbers are meaningful to ECR but are essentially meaningless to a customer searching for their booking in "Milan" or "Itay".

Could you make it easier to find my bookings?

Could you send an automatic email reminder of upcoming bookings?

DO NOT USE

DO NOT USE! We made a booking well in advance and wished to make a second one to extend our stay. The system, by default, cancelled the first booking, thus forcing us to make an overall booking at a much higher cost (three times). When we raised the issue over the phone, they refused to escalate. This is a system issue and not a user one.
