I don’t trust them anymore.

Very disappointing. I was referred to Edelman through my payroll company ADP. So I trusted their recommendation. Our first meeting went well, or that’s what I thought. We provided a lot of details and sensitive information and were told we would be presented with a complete strategy on our next meeting. Just days before our meeting I was told our rep had to reschedule. Finally when our meeting happened 15 days later than the originally planned, the person on the other line was reluctant to show his face on camera (flag number one) When I insisted he said “he was camera shy” showed his face for a few seconds and shut the camera again. He didn’t even look like the guy in the first meeting. He had no idea of who we were neither what we talked about. Totally suspicious. He then asked the same questions we had been asked on the first meeting. I am really doubtful he was the same person. He was not prepared and send a totally inaccurate strategy based on the info we originally send. He was not prepared at all. Very sneaky. I totally lost trust in that company.

Review for Matt Collington / Edelman…

Review for Matt Collington / Edelman Financial Engines

This was a deeply disappointing and unsettling experience. I engaged Edelman Financial Engines under the expectation of a transparent, fiduciary relationship. Instead, my accounts were handed off to another advisor without my knowledge or consent. I was not notified in advance, nor was I given a clear explanation afterward.

Being reassigned without disclosure is unacceptable—especially when dealing with retirement and investment accounts. Trust is the foundation of financial advising, and that trust was broken. At no point did I agree to be “passed along” as a client, yet that is exactly what happened.

For a firm that markets itself as client-first and fiduciary-driven, this lack of transparency is alarming. Clients should never have to discover changes to their advisory relationship after the fact. This experience raised serious concerns about internal practices, communication standards, and respect for clients.

I would strongly caution anyone considering Edelman Financial Engines to get everything in writing regarding advisor continuity and to closely monitor how your accounts are handled. Based on my experience, the service did not align with the firm’s stated values or promises.
