Many people were dissatisfied with the customer service, describing staff as rude, unhelpful, and difficult to reach, particularly regarding baggage issues or arbitrary rule enforcement. Reviewers also reported problems with lost or damaged luggage and found the Cairo airport experience to be chaotic and disorganized. Wont't wish Egyptair on my worst enemy

Wont't wish Egyptair on my worst enemy. Don't fly them even if your life depends on it!!

Flew the airline for the first time August 20th,2025 to Lagos, Nigeria. Airplane was very dirty with waste from prior flight still inside the seat pockets.

Airline hostess & host ( cairo- Lagos) acted too old and tired for the job especially the male who looked & acted like he hated his job and hated the Passengers even more!

I observed people pleading for blankets and were rudely spoken to or completely ignored.

On the Cairo to Lagos arm,
several rows of passengers were completely ignored ( including my row) when the last round of refreshments were served. When I called the attention of this "hostess", she simple ignored me and walked away! Unbelievable!

Service was non existent with passengers treated with disrespect and disdain!! 30years traveling but never seen or experienced rudness on this scale!!

The worst airline by far

I stopped using the airline 5 years ago, but this year unfortunately I thought maybe they had gotten better, so I booked 6 return tickets for my family London - Cairo, going was okay apart from some unfriendly cabin crews, the return included a stopover at Luxor airport and the luggage were not transferred to our London flight, we had to collect our luggage and check in again via some stupid rude counter staff at Luxor airport, in addition all the hassle going through security a few times and they were going through our personal belongings, this was the time I screamed at the counter staff and said that I’ll never use their airline again but they didn’t seem to care, I’ll never use them again and I’ll not recommend them to anyone else, shit shit shit services.

I booked a flight for 2 adultes and 2…

I booked a flight for 2 adultes and 2 children with egyptair from Cairo to Sharm El Sheikh. the flight was booked on September 2025 for travelling on April 2025. First Egyptair without notifying they changed the flight time from 2pm to 6am. Then asked them to cancel my flights because it was not possible to fly early morning with children. Egyptair confirmed they will reiumburse the flight tickets (400€) but until now nothing they don't reply to emails nor phone calls

Unreasonable baggage fare

I travelled with EgyptAir from Cairo to Madrid, where they claimed my luggage was overweight by 4kg. When I asked about the per-kilogram fee, I was told they only charged per piece and was forced to pay an unreasonable amount. On my connecting Lufthansa flight, however, the same bag was considered underweight, despite both airlines having identical baggage allowances. EgyptAir has been the worst airline I’ve ever flown with—the crew were rude, dismissive, and at times seemed discriminatory. Even a simple request for water was brushed off with, “I’ll bring it later.”

This pertains to a booking from the USA…

This pertains to a booking from the USA to Cairo. The customer service experience was poor, with unhelpful support and slow response times. The online booking process—both via the website and mobile app—was frustrating and unreliable. I was unable to access my mileage account due to repeated login issues, which were never properly resolved. Additionally, the Business Class service did not meet expected standards. Overall, a disappointing experience.

Where do I start from?

Where do I start from?! I flew Egypt while going to Lagos, Nigeria. Coming back to Washington on Wednesday, July 30th with my 2 young kids, the flights were delayed from 0015 to 0430 and they offered to provide us an hotel at 0500 and this airline did not communicate when the new flight will be boarding, so we missed the flight. Why did you give an hotel knowing the flight would be departing in few hours?!

It took 6 hrs for us to get rebooked after redirecting us from place to place with 2 kids and our bags were checked out to us. My kids were hungry and became very cranky. This was my worst airline experience. Finally rebooked and the flight was on Saturday, August 2nd and we got to the airport very early due to the fear of missing the flight. We were told this flight again has been delayed from 0012 to 0330 and guess what?! They wouldn’t check out bags in so we can actually get food for the kids. Cairo airport was a terrible place too because you have to pass through Pass Control before you can get any food. My kids were left hungry again from that time till around 12am when they checked the bags in. The airline and airport staff is horrible and so mean to women and kids. They kept lying about the check in times and some were requesting money and if we didn’t give them money, they’d walk away and not help you at all. It was so sad to have experienced this with my kids. Terrible communication and mean-spirited airport and airline staff!

Reserved a flight from Athen to Cairo…

Reserved a flight from Athen to Cairo and it kept delaying for 3 times and the last time asking on the counter after the take off time was passed. They started lying and saying once they know the time they will announce and it was a lie because their colleague before i leave the business lounge told me the flight was delayed again by one hour.
This is a horrible airline

Egyptians must do business differently…

Egyptians must do business differently from the rest of the world. I am shocked that this airline is in business and is a part of the Star Alliance group. Star Alliance should really do some internal investigation with their partnership with EgyptAir. I had a simple question about my account and have emailed the following email addresses: callcenter@egyptair., wecare@egyptair., webbookingsupport@egyptair., webbookingsupport@egyptair.. I have also reached out to EgyptAir via Facebook. Since May, I have not heard a single reply from ANY of their email addresses that they advertise as customer service contact information and they ghosted me after one message on Facebook. I'm not asking for anything crazy. It is INSANE that this company functions as a large corporation. How are they functioning with offering ZERO customer service? The lack of professionalism and courtesy for their paying customers is disgusting.

horrible. Zero Belongings safety

If you’re planning to fly with EgyptAir, think twice before you read this:
I was traveling with my family and had six bags. Instead of the counter clerk tagging them himself, he handed the job to an assistant who weighed all the bags but forgot to attach a tag to one of them—so it stayed behind at Cairo airport. When we arrived in Paris, only five bags showed up.
I called EgyptAir to report the missing bag, and what happened next was unbelievable:
1. They gave me incorrect information about who to contact, making it impossible to locate my bag.
2. They told me to send an email (and we all know how slow—or non-existent—their replies can be).
3. They insisted the bag was nowhere to be found—luckily, I’d placed an Apple AirTag inside, so I could prove it was sitting in Terminal 3.
After all that hassle, they said they’d put my bag on the next Cairo-Paris flight. I had to book another hotel and return to the airport to pick it up.
When I finally opened the bag, this is what I discovered:
• Broken locks and zippers
• Thousands of euros worth of items stolen
• Stolen medications and vitamins
• Torn-up personal belongings
• Sports equipment ruined by the way it was folded and handled
I immediately emailed them to ask what on earth happened—and their response was, “We are not responsible for any loss or damage, and no compensation will be paid.”
Ridiculous. I had a three-bag allowance; they caused me immense inconvenience because one clerk forgot to attach a tag, and instead of apologizing, they stole and damaged my property with zero accountability.
If you want to risk your belongings and be treated terribly, go ahead and fly EgyptAir. As for me, they’re done—I’ve already initiated legal action against them.

Flight

Flight: MS47 + MS749 | Date: 01/09/2024 | PIR: ATHMS15075

I flew with Egyptair on September 1st, 2024, from Hurghada (HRG) to Athens (ATH) via Cairo (CAI). Upon arrival in Athens, my checked baggage did not arrive. I filed the missing baggage report immediately (PIR ATHMS15075).

Due to unexpected personal circumstances, I had to remain in Athens for several days, although I normally reside in Megalopoli, Greece. I was left without basic clothing or hygiene supplies and had to purchase essential items worth €677.25 to manage during the four-day baggage delay.

When the bag finally arrived, it was badly damaged—the hard shell was cracked and unusable. Although I do not have the original receipt (it was a gift), the suitcase was brand new, visibly unused, and still covered in protective foil.

I submitted:

The PIR report

Photographic and video proof of damage

All receipts

A written claim including both the costs of emergency items and the estimated value of the damaged suitcase

Total claim: €827.25

After many follow-ups and a legal notice, Egyptair offered only $150, claiming it was the maximum their insurance would allow. They refused compensation for the delay, falsely stating I was a "resident at destination"—a claim that’s clearly contradicted by both my actual place of residence (Megalopoli) and the receipts from Athens.

Their refusal to honor obligations under the Montreal Convention, which provides up to 1,288 SDR (~€1,600) in compensation for delay or baggage damage, is unacceptable.

Since September 2024, I have:

Contacted Egyptair multiple times

Filed a claim and all documents

Issued a final legal notice

Contacted ECC Greece, ECC Germany, and eConsumer.gov

Sent reminders with deadlines

The only response I received in return was a vague rejection and silence.

Avoid Egyptair at all costs.
They ignore international law, delay compensation unfairly, and treat paying customers with disrespect. I will continue pursuing this through every legal and public means available.

Worst experience with EgyptAir

Worst experience with EgyptAir – Flight MS931 from Muscat to Cairo. Broken A/C, rude staff, dirty meal trays, no working entertainment screen. Worst of all – five checked bags still missing days later with zero follow-up. Family left with no clothes. Never flying with EgyptAir again unless they handle this properly.

Don't fly with these guys. You'll regret it.

I don't know where to start. I think the overall rating of this company speak for itself, so if you're here checking before booking a flight – my suggestion is: DON'T BOOK IT WITH THESE GUYS.

Here is my story. They completely trashed my luggage (broken shells, completely broken off wheels and total damage in general on both my suitcases. Went straight to the bin) – which didn't surprise me as I saw how the staff threw the luggage in the air into the trunk like it was a gameshow with a timer on.

Okay okay fair enough, they had some bad staff that day. What happens next? I start applying for compensation. Expect your response time for every email they write to be months apart. It has so far taken me 6 months and now they came back and offered compensation for 25% of the total value of my brand new luggage!

Did I expect a full refund? Not necessarily but at least way more than that.

It doesn't stop here. I am referred to the Danish Office (where I'm based) who would handle the compensation – and I was in for a surprise the way the staff wrote to me on email. I haven't seen anyone in any service business speak the way that this Financial Manager Assistant wrote to me. Aggressive tone, excessive use of exclamation marks (!!!!), lack of empathy and general care. Completely unheard of when speaking to a mistreated customer who's been patiently waiting for 6 months to get a fraction of their broken luggage compensated.

Everything has to be signed and filled by hand, scanned and sent back like we're living in the stone age.

If EgyptAir was my only opportunity to go to a destination I'd rather walk there to be honest.

If trustpilot had a "0" star option I would go for that.

I was apprehensive to fly Egypt Air…

I was apprehensive to fly Egypt Air after reading the reviews, but we had no issues on 3 separate flights. The planes are a bit dated but the staff are friendly, our bags arrived, and the flights were either right on time or only slightly delayed by 15-20 minutes.

Discrimination

So I traveled from CPH to EBB on the 24/02/25.
At CPH our flight was delayed for over an hour hence missing my connecting flight from CAI to EBB.
The officers in CAI booked us on ET to EBB the following morning.
The overall delay time was about 5 hours and 50mins.

In EBB,my checked luggage was missing so I went home without it after the baggage centre had promised to call me after it had arrived it which they did anyway.

Days later,I started following up on my compensation for delay which was €600.I wrote an email to the airline and attached all necessary documents.i received a reply where they promised to get back.

After the first email,no further communication was made from them even after I wrote several emails asking about my case....

Days turned weeks, so I decided to ask my husband to help me follow up,since he had had the same issue before ( compensation for delay)and had his case worked on in about 10-14 days max.

To our suprise, whomever was concerned wrote back to my husband and even had the guts to send him a claim form!!HOW?

We put their professionalism to a test again by sending a filled claim form using my email address because I was their direct client and not my husband.
Once again....they went mute...I wrote to follow up on the claim form and didn't get any feedback!
My husband contacted them and they told him they would work on my case.
Apparently they found it befitting to communicate well with a third party( my husband) giving him details of a case and not me their client!!
Did I mention that I'm black and my husband is white and he was writing them while in Europe and I was in Africa at that time?
That's how my case turned into my husband's case because Egypt air entirely dealt with him and not me!

Although my husband successfully got my compensation,I faced the highest form of discrimination in the due course.

I am extremely disappointed with…

I am extremely disappointed with EgyptAir and feel compelled to share my frustrating experience. I flew with them recently, and they lost my checked baggage — which contained four weeks' worth of clothing. It has now been over a week, and absolutely nothing has been done.

What makes this situation worse is the complete lack of communication. I’ve tried multiple times to reach out to their customer service and baggage handling teams, but I’ve received no meaningful updates or support. Every day that passes adds more stress and inconvenience to my life. I planned this trip carefully, packed everything I needed, and trusted EgyptAir to handle my belongings responsibly. That trust has been completely broken.

At the very least, I expected some accountability and timely updates, but EgyptAir has failed on both fronts. I hope they take this feedback seriously and start treating customers’ belongings — and time — with the respect they deserve.
