They are great at voices, but greedy bastards. So many virtual limitations like "number of voices" that makes no sense when you also pay credits per character.

Although I like the voices offered, I have many complaints about Elevenlabs. For one, their prices are misleading. When I first joined, I quickly realized that for a beginner account, I was only able to generate about 30 minutes worth of audio in an entire month. So I switched to the pro level, two steps up, and it wasn't all that impressive either. I was only able to generate a few chapters of audio from my audiobook before I was once again out of credits. I finally broke down and got the more expensive account with was $330 per month. I was under the impression that you could upload your manuscript and generate an audiobook with the click of a button. I was also told the program included rights to allow me to upload it to amazon. However, if you upload your finished audio to just about any site, it has to be done chapter by chapter, not all at once. And Amazon won't accept anything from Elevenlabs. So I was left with very few options for where to put my it once it was done. In the higher tier membership at $330 per month, I was finally able to finish the audio files for my audiobook and also another that was a similar size. When I was finished with the two projects, I wanted to downgrade for a while because my third book is still being written. When I downgraded, I had over 500,000 credits left. I assumed that, naturally, since I paid quite a hefty sum for those credits, I'd at least be able to keep and finish using them. But I was wrong again. The moment I downgraded, Elevenlabs took every last one of those credits back from me. So now I'm back to square one, where it would take me MONTHS (over 2 years on the monthly starter plan) to generate all the audio for my new audiobook. Not only that, but occasionally some of their voices are discontinued, and if that happens to be one of the voices you have used in your audio generations, if you haven't already downloaded that audio - you then have to use your very expensive credits to change all those portions of your text over to a different voice. Highly disappointed with this program.

Their text-to-AI voiceover makes many mistakes and uses an excessive number of tokens. I requested cancellation and a refund, but they ignored my message and asked me to “verify” the cancellation instead. Despite this, they charged me again the following month. Very disappointing experience and poor customer support.

They steal your money, trash service

No matter what the reason one may have for using ElevenLabs, recreation, business, etc., my reason is vital! I cannot speak vocally due to a full larynjectomy. I'm a survivor and ElevenLabs has made communicating with others comfortably possible. When AI assistance wasn't able to fix a problem I was having, within a short time, yes, a human would reach out to me and fix it personally. 5 Stars...ElevenLabs AI and their human support team deserves it. There are two different types elevenlabs and elevenreader. I think they make this confusing intentionally. There is no easy customer service to speak to people they hide behind their own voice generated automated service I cant wait for a rival to take over them. They took £50 from me and took my unused credits so essentially I got nothing. I felt robbed and no way of contacting them I gave up. A terrible company that have reoccurring card charges that are very difficult to cancel. Impossible in the app to cancel you need a laptop and navigate the small print to find the unsubscribe button. Just stay away and stick to the free accounts.

I took this software for the trial run and paid for the professional voice cloning option. This option requires you to record audio and then upload it into 11 labs. They work their magic, and you are to get a voice that then mirrors your own or very closely aligns with it that you can use for podcasts, YouTube, etc. The recordings should be around 2 hours long to give the software its best chance of creating a high-quality clone.

So I did this twice, because the first time the voice was such a disappointment. I tried again with a Rode Mini USB microphone, which has a pop filter and a background noise suppressant. To say I was disappointed the second time round is an understatement. I literally thought the cloned voice was some sort of a joke. I am Irish with a pronounced Dublin accent, yet it generated a British male voice from the Lake District! Wow...

I’ve generally had a good experience with ElevenLabs, but I’m currently very disappointed with the lack of support around a critical WhatsApp integration issue.

It’s 12thJanuary 2026, and when I try to add a WhatsApp input account, the setup redirects straight to Meta instead of allowing me to connect my AI voice agent. After completing the Meta process, I consistently receive the error:
“Something went wrong. Please try later.”

I’ve tried emailing support 4 times and reaching out through chat, youtube, but so far I haven’t had any luck getting a response. This feature is essential for my setup, and I’m completely blocked without guidance or a fix.

I’m leaving this review in the hope that someone from the ElevenLabs team can reach out, acknowledge the issue, and help resolve it. The product itself has a lot of potential, but support responsiveness really needs improvement.

ElevenLabs Customer Service is incredibly helpful. They take time and consideration to give insight on how certain internal processes work that relate to your overall experience so you can get a better understanding of how to evaluate and fine tune how you utilize their incredible toolsets. Kris has helped me many times and I'm always grateful for the quick and in depth response - especially this last time. Many thanks to the entire team.

Paid for Professional Voice Clone feature. The verification system is completely broken - repeatedly rejects clear, high-quality recordings without any explanation.
Support promised to reset my attempts "immediately" - 48+ hours ago, nothing done. They offered to send a refund link - never received it. Now they stopped responding to emails entirely.
The paid feature is unusable due to their broken verification system and non-existent customer support. Save your money until they fix this. Many other users report the same issue.

Eleven Labs has absolutely terrible customer support. I signed up on December 18. I did everything precisely as they asked. I recorded in a studio with a Rode mic, a mixer, a professional mic pop filter, everything. I recorded the audio - everything sounded great. What doesn't work - the professional voice creation. So, support suggesting deleting the voice and try again. Didn't work. Then, I found out that support was an AI bot. I've asked for HUMAN support, and promised that someone would contact me - presumably by email. NOTHING, absolute crickets. This company is TERRIBLE to work with. Typical stupid tech founders that believe support can be fully accomplished with email AI support.

I don’t understand this at all. I’ve been paying for the subscription continuously.. ElevenLabs was genuinely helping me with my projects. Then the company decides to remove the legacy voices.

At first, support replied telling me to go to the LEGACY VOICES tab… which simply does not exist. It doesn’t matter which browser I use — it’s just not there. Other customers even recorded videos showing the same thing on youtube, proving that either you’re imagining things or joking with users.

Later, another support agent told me that those voices won’t be coming back anyway. So users pay every month, and then you move their voices to places that only you can see.

I’m not renewing my subscription...

I am updating my review because although it was difficult to get human help and one of my tickets was several days till I could get past the bots. It is holiday session , there is a warning and when help came the agent was great. Plus maybe I didn't help things because I was assisting several friends and had issues with both their clones and so sent in more than one ticket which confused things. The technology is amazing once you get past the set ip faze.

I explored ElevenLabs as a tool to create audiobooks of my original story writing just as a hobby really for myself. While I would rate the user experience and quality of the results overall are okay to good I am finding ElevenLabs bascially unusable in the end because if you want to create long form audio books even without sound effects or many different voices you basically need the highest subscription of $99 per month. I started on the smallest subscription and took several months to even just be able to vaguely test out voices and generate text to speech. When I was finally able to export 5 chapters of my story (even skipping testing it for mistakes as that cost too much credit) I realised that I needed an amount fo credits I would take more than a quarter of a year to accumulate on the basic subscription. Fair enough, it was pretty cheap so I upgraded to the "creator" subscription of $22 per month, which allowed me to export the project. Of cource once I checked the exported audio file I realised that for some reason one of the two voices I applied had somehow vanished somewhere in the process. But now I have to wait a month until I can correct this and create a new audio file because it takes all the credits I get in a month on the middle subscription to export a 5 chapter chunk of audio book. So in other words I spent $22 yesterday exporting a test file full of mistakes (which I had not been able to check before export as it would have eaten too many credits). Too expensive for a hobby. Sorry. if I think about the whole story I was wanting to turn into an audiobook, it will propably cost me less if I hire some actors to read and record it for me and lets face it, it would also be a better product in the end.

I signed up to ElevenLabs hoping to turn my lyrics into a simple song. What I got was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with any AI platform.

The interface is an overcomplicated, unintuitive disaster-clearly built by tech heads for tech heads, with no consideration for normal users who just want something straightforward and functional. Most of my time was wasted desperately trying to understand how anything worked. After all that struggle, I managed to produce exactly one output and it wasn't even a proper song, just my words, nothing more.

Yet somehow this minimal, barely usable result consumed nearly all my monthly credits (38,000 out of 40,000). When I complained that I'd paid for a full subscription only to get practically nothing of value, they refused any recourse, citing "substantial use" while providing zero transparency-no detailed log, no list of generations, no timestamps, just a vague number and a canned response hiding behind their terms.

This isn't clumsy design; it's deliberate and predatory. Previews, failed attempts, and navigation confusion silently burn through credits, ensuring they can claim you've "used" the service and deny any resolution. It's a calculated way to extract subscription fees from frustrated users who walk away with almost nothing.

You're not alone-search Reddit (ElevenLabs), Trustpilot, BBB, and other review sites. Dozens to hundreds of people report the exact same problems: credits vanishing on minimal or no real output, zero transparency from support, and a business model that feels deliberately thieving and predatory."

There are far better alternatives out there that are genuinely user-friendly, intuitive, produce excellent full songs quickly, and cost a fraction of what ElevenLabs charges for their convoluted mess. Suno is a prime example—I switched to it and got a brilliant, complete song in minutes with zero hassle or hidden credit traps.

Do yourself a favour: steer clear of ElevenLabs entirely. It's an overpriced, overcomplicated rip-off that delivers negligible value and leaves users feeling cheated. Choose the real user-friendly options instead—you'll save time, money, and endless aggravation.
