We feel it is important to address several inaccuracies in this review, particularly noting that it was posted four days before the wedding even took place and therefore cannot provide a well-rounded or accurate account of the full experience. The positive messages we received from Nino and Nara the day after their wedding, and in the weeks that followed do tell a very different story.
Nino and Nara's booking began as a standard elopement for two and expanded into a full wedding with 13 guests. We absorbed the additional complexity without charging extra, going well beyond the scope of the original package to support their day. That package included venue hire at Stoneridge Estate, a helicopter flight, hair and makeup, one bouquet, two buttonholes, one corsage, two bottles of bubbles, and 2.5 hours of photography and videography with all edits (raw photos, colour edits, highlights reel and ceremony video) for $7,270 NZD. If you know weddings and what they cost, you will recognise this as exceptional value that would be very difficult to find elsewhere. Expectations must match budget, and while Nino's review references a premium experience, this is not a premium price point for everything that was included. Throughout the planning process, additional services and products were frequently requested but met with reluctance to cover the associated costs.
On the celebrant: before the booking was even confirmed, we addressed this directly in our very first follow-up email stating "I know you requested a Catholic priest. That would be outside of the quoted price. Were you happy to just use our regular celebrant and have some religious wording included?" They confirmed they were happy to proceed. It is also worth noting that there are no female Catholic priests in New Zealand, so the nature of our celebrant was never ambiguous. The celebrant we arranged is a warm and respected member of the local Catholic community and the best possible fit we could find for this couple. When they later requested a priest, we supported that change and offered additional shoot time at half price as a gesture of goodwill. We would note, however, that had this been a firm requirement from the outset, we would not have been able to take the booking as sourcing a priest willing to travel and officiate outside of their own church is extraordinarily difficult to arrange.
The champagne at the mountain peak was a deliberate decision outlined in the original quote, structured specifically to avoid Stoneridge's corkage fees and keep costs down for the couple as they were on a budget. When the request came to move it to the venue six days before the wedding, we were actually able to accommodate this, and they did enjoy their bubbles at Stoneridge after all.
Regarding the claim about the hair and makeup artist: the MUA was provided with the couple's accommodation details, room number, and contact numbers prior to the wedding day. We have text message records confirming this communication took place. Any confusion on the day was not a result of information being withheld by us.
The day after the wedding we received this message: "Caleb and Amanda were awesome. We were also blessed with gorgeous weather." Weeks later, further warm feedback arrived about their photos: "Lovely photos — we appreciate the edits, but if possible we would like the raw photos as well, as the day was so beautiful and we would like to keep all."
We also feel it is relevant to note that a review of Nino's Trustpilot profile shows 13 negative reviews across multiple different companies. We will be sharing wedding photos, text message records, and email correspondence so that anyone reading this can see the full picture and draw their own conclusions.
