Deterioration in service

I was initially very happy with the Emma budgeting app but have become fed up with it over the last year.

Many of the features that were once included in my plan no longer are which is a bit annoying but the most significant problem for me is that despite saying it will update 4 x per day it updates twice or three time absolute most.

This has been going on for a year and while the customer service reps are nice and try to be helpful it’s never actually resolved.

In order to avoid this ongoing irritation I’ll have to upgrade to the £80 per year plan. I may be cynical but it feels like this is a way to force customers in to upgrading.

Thank you for your feedback — and I’m sorry to hear about your frustration. We would never intentionally degrade the service to force an upgrade; that’s absolutely not how we operate. The update frequency depends heavily on the banks and Open Banking APIs, which can sometimes introduce limitations beyond our control. That said, we know this is important to you and we want to improve it where possible.

Regarding the plan changes: we’ve had to evolve our offering to keep the app sustainable and continue developing new features, but I completely understand this can feel frustrating.

I couldn't remember my passcode

I couldn't remember my passcode and the Emma help team were really great with helping me get back into my accounts. They responded to my emails really quickly making the process fairly painless!

Emma app has got better and better since I reviewed it a year ago. It's great for helping with accounts and savings. It even can safely save to get interest and you can pay people with Emma

Do not use

I saved some money knew it needed 45 days to come back out, thought I’d waited 45 days but could be wrong as my moneys not unlocking, I’ve tried for 2 days to reach anyone who can tell me when I can access my money and I can’t talk to anyone, it keeps saying someone will get back to me on their page and messenger and nothing. They mention their live chat but you can never talk to anyone on live chat, I did eventually get my money released and a reply from them but it took ages, I’ve now deleted the app

Superb app & help you need it

Superb help when moving data to a new phone.

The app is great if you want to keep track of multiple accounts. Plus you have the bonus of offline accounts where you cannot do a direct link. I have £ and € account so great to see a summary in a single app.

Overall experience has been great...

I think my overall experience has been great. I haven't had any issues with this app, it's easy to manage and has been a huge help in helping me save money, rather than spend it. My experience with contacting support has also been great, very quick and polite responses.
