THIEVES AND SCAM ARTISTS

As with other reviews, the movers who arrived told me that I would owe an additional 30% of what I was quoted by Empire. It gets better though. Six police cars drove up my driveway because the company Empire assigned to my move had a stolen U-Haul they were going to use to move my belongings. I have the police report to prove it. Also, when the movers were questioned, the police found that NONE of them had a valid driver's license. When I called to ask for a different mover, as my contract states I have the right to do, I was told by the "escalations department," that there is no other mover, and if I didn't use these guys I'd forfeit my deposit. $6,000. I just do not understand WHY this company is allowed to stay in business. I have contacted the DOT, the BBB, the Attorney General, Crimes against seniors. Nothing is being done, and some of the complaints on this website are years old. I just don't get it.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are a broker and then subcontracts to another company. Empire moving company has no experience in how to quote and therefore what you get in the beginning is not what will be the end payment. Once you paid the deposit you will not get it back if you cancel. So now you stuck or loose your money. We started at $6K and ended at 17K. Now i did not mind paying the 17K but they did not take all my goods. About a quarter of the goods were left. When i called the customer service they typed something and said they will investigate. I send numerous emails and no response. Don't use these people. You will save yourself lots of stress and money.

Their subcontractor arrived on time

Their subcontractor arrived on time, 7/6. From there, downhill.
They knew we had to move that day and the price jumped from $6400 to $10400. We had exhaustively measured and weighed our household belongings and boxes and KNEW they were within the $6400 limit. After arguing for 1/2 hr, only $2100 extra. Guaranteed 7/13 or 7/14 delivery. Empire's warehouse, if it exists, has no security, as many of our expensive household items were missing or damaged, to the tune of $7000, not to mention nostalgic items arriving 8/18/2021, missing the most expensive pieces. Having slept on a blowup mattress the duration and having bad backs was insult to injury to injury.
Being senior citizens we thought we might be treated better. A TOTAL SCAM
We received a call that they found the rest of our belongings around the end of November. They said they were out for delivery that day. When the delivery pirate called he said there was STILL a balance of $3400. We said keep it, mostly because we had already replaced the things we needed to live. They came anyway and guess what...things were damaged! They had 1 small delivery driver and 1 craigslist fillin who proceeded to damage more belongings. My wife was in tears.

Failed to update my move out date

Failed to update my move out date. I called 1 month and 19 days before my move date to update them. When they highly pressured me into signing the agreement, I was told I didn't need an exact move out date or the exact address. This is a lie. If you change anything they lie to you about what issues it may cause or if it will increase your costs. IT WILL ALWAYS CAUSE PROBLEMS AND COST YOU MORE MONEY! I called a week before my move to make sure everything was ready, as my previous call made it sound like things were in place, and they said there was no record of me having previously called about my move out date. However, after I gave them the exact date and time I called they magically found a note about me updating my relocation address but never updated the move date. I got the runaround and the blame was put on me because its a week out before my move. I called 6 times in 2 days and spoke to 2 different people. They were both very rude and said the Scheduling Manager was either out to lunch or unable to be reached but they would call me back. They never called back. This is a scam broker. The ONLY positive reviews are from the few people that had great experience with the subcontractor movers they hire. NOT with them. If you have any issues with your move these people will not help you and even blame you for their own mistakes. I even told one of the agents that they state all of their calls are recorded so when I told them over a month ago about my dates, it would be on a recording, they just quickly changed subjects and started yelling at me. I had to cancel with them, find a local moving company on 6 days notice. Pay a premium to them to move on such short notice, as this is an out of state move. I live in a college town where college students are coming back and all moving services are being used up by them. This company will NOT HELP YOU! Do NOT use them!

Please save you the headache

Please save you the headache! They all are a bunch of scammers who just want to take your money. First, quote you a high price and then they have a pitch already prepared about discounts and the money that you could save blah, blah, blah. Once they realized that they quoted you cheap, canceled the moving 2 days prior scheduled. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!

Empire Moving Group is involved in…Interstate Wire Fraud

Empire Moving Group is involved in Interstate Wire Fraud. The DOT recognizes them as a broker, while they pawn themselves off as movers and provide a very low estimate in order to secure funds from your bank and when you find out that they have no intention of arriving on date of move, you call them to find out they are not answering their calls and not returning emails. This makes you wonder if others have experienced this and sure enough - they have - there is a very long list of ex customers on Google Reviews that use "Scam", "Con Artists", "Avoid" to describe Empire Moving Group. This mirrors my own experience with these Cons which translates to providing a fake estimate to collect on a down payment and then never bother showing up. The perception by Empire Moving Group "Customer Service" and "Accountants" that they can provide a fake estimate, take money based on that fake estimate, and not bother delivering is erroneous. You cant steal peoples money that way without consequences. Empire Moving Group is clearly engaging in classic Interstate Wire Fraud - luring in consumers with fake estimates - and having them send their bank info to charge them. That is a Federal Crime. Empire Moving Group are scam con artist operation, just like everyone else states, waiting prosecution for their brevity in Federal crimes. The DOT does not recognize them as a moving company as they like to pawn themselves off as. Furthermore their listed contact with the DOT claims total ignorance of Empire Moving Group. This is a Very Classic Con Man Operation - in need of aggressive Federal Pursuit. Their listed location in Boca Raton is in actual fact a virtual - not real office. This has all the Bells & Whistles of a CON Operation. Avoid Empire Moving Group at all Costs !
