Don´t use the English test by Duolingo! They tell you your result is invalid and that you cheated without giving any proof of your wrongdoing.

They use standardised answers to say that you violated the test rules and to give you tips for the next time. I followed them all and they won´t tell me what and when I did something wrong exactly (I don´t know how I could possibly pass the test in the future), nor do they share the test recording "because of privacy concerns". I am not allowed to watch a recording of myself? These things plus the fact that they don´t ask you to show the room and your desk are designed to support the scam.

As many others said, avoid this test and stay with the traditional players..

I took it for the first time, just closed all the windows and didn’t pay attention to background programs and got a grade, which took longer than 48 hours to receive, 9 hours late to be exact, but it was a very low grade so I had to take it again and then they said I had a program in the background. Even though I took the same steps as the first time. So on the third time I closed all the background programs and still didn’t get a grade because “there was a program running in the background”. I took it another 4 times (2 were programs running, 1 was looking away and 1 was the cursor left the screen) and still no grade, I made sure everything was closed on task manager. This has been going on for about a month now. They won’t tell you what it is and won’t give your money back, all they do is give you steps which I followed and still nothing. Total waste of money, I had to pay for 2 tests only but it was money thrown down the drain. I should’ve done the toefl, even though is more expensive, but I have taken it before and got an excellent grade and there is no scam behind it, would’ve had a test result by now for sure. At the end, I tried to save money but I’m gonna have to spend way more than just what the toefl costs!

This is the worst customer service ever: arrogant live chat agents and incompetent supervisors. I asked for a refund because my camera would shut off whenever I tried to start the test. They said I accepted their terms when I purchased the test. But it should not be my fault when I cannot take the test because their application is broken. waiting on the Norwegian consumer law team to look into my case. No wonder why they are so much cheaper than all others...

Do yourself a favor, check first if the institution where you want to study doesn't take TOEFL, and if it does, pay for TOEFL. You will end off paying the same fee for the test, as they will say that your face if off camera, your cursor is out of the screen and to take it again, then you will pay another 50 usd, so you will pay approximately 100 and some usd, when TOEFL have better credits and it is only about 120.

My experience with them was frustrated and disappointed. Their system would not take my ID, I will put the arms in my desk, if the computer will move the test stop, or it will say the cursor was out of the screen, it would not allow me to type in properly as it will freeze continuously, and will make me face the time because I will lose time trying to unfreeze and forget about customer support, a lady said in the chat :" Oh I am happy to help. Let me read your request, moments later came back and said, oh it is out of my league, I will escalate to my supervisor, bye and ended the chat" that's your customer support. I think you can imagine how was the customer support response from the manager? Right.

They're advertising 2 test just right at front with a discount of 2USD each one, why? Because it takes you about 4 attempts to past the test with their hypersensitive system and each test only allows you to try tree time :D, be careful if you breathe that my stop the test too, that the business! And if you ask them for a proof of your mistake, they are unable to share one. It is never their system fault, their system is flawless, you are the problem.

This Duolingo might have started as something good but since they discovered they could make money out of it, forget it, it became a business and their students doesn't matter anymore, it all about squeezing money out of you.

It was one of the suggested tests by my university and I chose it because it was relatively cheaper but if I can go back I wouldn't.
the test went well and I was waiting for my results when I got an email from them that I need to resubmit my ID, I resubmitted my id 10 times while constantly talking to customer support and they kept rejecting it claiming that I entered my name wrong, even though the last 2 times I resubmitted they told me exactly what to enter in the name field and they still rejected it
they eventually gave me the results after threatening to sue and they messed up my name on the certificate with no way to edit it
they also refused to give me a refund when they rejected my id for the 7th time
other than that their app is trash, it had no settings for the camera it always used my internal laptop camera and I had to find a way to disable it because it had low quality, they didn't provide any settings for that when I wanted to use an external camera, their customer support is the worst and apparently they thought that they know my name better than I do but still asked me to enter it and eventually messed it up in the certificate
note that I am not from the US and my name is not in English

They banned me without any reason. They claimed that I used secondary monitor. But I didn't use any secondary monitor. Even I asked duolingo to send me proof. But they didn't provide me any proof. If they can't send me the proof then I am going to take legal action by my lawyer .

I was a bit worried that I might not succeed in taking the test after reading the reviews here. Everyone was saying that it's extremely strict, that most only managed to get the results on the second time and so on. I followed the simple guidelines, I got through the test and it feels like most people who are dissatisfied here might have actually cheated or done something else to trigger the system into failing them. If you're confident in your skills, you'll pass this test easily and get your results within 48 hours as promised. Highly recommended.

I'm really satisfied with Duolingo test and got my test's result in the second attempt so best advice is that read all articles on the website to obtain your certificate successfully.

I took the exam two times, and never got a grade. The first time they appealed that I had a program running background, and let me repeat the test, but the second time I made sure to close each and every program to be eligible to get a grade, but I received the same appeal.
This time I wasn't able to get another "free" chance, so I would have to pay again to retake the test.
In conclusion, a bad experience although I like the test format.

Couldn't stand the silly comments (awesome etc) that kept being shown !!

It is all a lie, they will find a way to show you that you cheated and you will just lose your money even tho you didnt.
Just a fake way to make money

we paid and have been trying to have a test for almost a month now: we had to repeat the test 4 times since one time the mistake was that I touched my hear, another time the connection was not clear they say (but we have great connection... and anyhow, just tell me before I make the test, and not days after), anyhow the most annoying is that they say they give the result in 48hours, which is NOT true!! after a test we have to contact them with the support, ...
I am telling you, if your think you get that test easily and fast, our experience is that this it NOT true!

omg: so last test arrived 4 days ago, and it was finally accepted, but email arrived in spam (our fault, we did not check it, so I add a star), but, can I say, could not they just answer back to our requests stating: your test is fine, just check your spam folder, instead of not getting back to us?
