Thank you Tyler and EQ Customer Service Team

The customer service team has been impressive at EQ whenever I've dealt with them. In particular, a representative named Tyler was tremendously helpful just recently.

Prior to speaking with her, I was getting conflicting, unclear information about the timeline and process for transferring funds from my TFSA to an outside TFSA which lead to some issues that needed urgent resolution or I would miss out on an investment opportunity.

Tyler stated with confidence, and without overpromising, that she would take ownership of helping me find the best and quickest way to resolve the issue so I could still take advantage of my opportunity.

After listening carefully to my needs and stated problem, she clarified some things about registered fund transfers for me, so that I was aware of timelines, technology and reasonable expectations. Then she enrolled her manager and internal support teams to come up with a solution that would circumnavigate the delays that seemed inevitable and highly consequential for me. Within 24 hours, Tyler and team had found a way and were quick to take action. Her professionalism and customer-care were head and shoulders above anything I've experienced in banking, telecom or anywhere else I've dealt with customer service teams.

It gave me renewed confidence in what teams and dedicated employees can do when they are committed to customer satisfaction, knowledgeable and solution-oriented.

In addition, I've had a great experience using all of my registered and personal accounts on EQ bank, which allows for the movement of funds between accounts internally but also with external accounts I have with other banks. Very practical and easy, and no services fees! That's awesome!!

New Business Account - Poor Customer Service

Recently (4 weeks ago) signed up business banking. Since tried to link another bank (Tangerine) and unable to link both accounts. Contacted customer service week ago and was told there is technical difficulty and try again. Insisted and asked when will be fixed. No idea was told. Insisted call back and was promised so far no response. Just today (Sep-6-2024) tried again (few times) no luck. understand it is beta but that is when customer service should engage and help resolve the issue for customers. so far bad experience.

Worst bank ever

Worst bank ever. They will randomly block account and interac transfer stops working. Customer service sucks big time. They said their security team is unavailable to unlock and will callback. But never calls back. My account is blocked and its been a week. Imagine if you have to do urgent transaction or mortgage. You are screwed. Keep away.

I can always call EQ Bank

I can always call EQ Bank, and get connected with a knowledgeable, real person immediately. That doesn’t happen at The Royal or Scotia. I earn good interest on my money at EQ. That doesn’t happen at the other banks either. EQ has earned my business.

I mistakenly deposited 500.00 into an EQ Notice bank account and want to move it into my daily chequing account. I was told by one of the agents who was very difficult to understand (poor English) that it takes 30 days to move the funds. This was on July 15th 2024. On August 15 2024 I phoned again to inquire about my funds not being transferred to my chequing account yet and was told again that it will take another 30 days to transfer the money. They are holding my funds hostage and I want to know how to get my money out of this bank for good. Help!!

Locked all accounts after suspicious activity- Great Move

I have made one interac transfer and eq bank trying to call me for confirmation but I didn't pick up the call.
They thought it's suspicious activity and locked my all accounts.
They have done a great move cuz it can be scam or any suspicious activity to my account.

I love this move by EQ Bank
So far no complaints all running good.

Thank You

I contacted online chat support and…

I contacted online chat support and spoke with a representative named Devy to inquire about the possibility of withdrawing US cash from an ATM. Unfortunately, his support was rude and his explanations were inconsistent. Initially, he told me that I could withdraw US cash from an ATM in Canada. However, he later stated, “The EQ Bank US Savings cannot be linked to the EQ Bank Card.”

Confused, I asked for further clarification. Devy then asked if I had ever withdrawn US cash from an ATM before. I replied that I had done so with a Tangerine ATM. He then said that I could do the same with the EQ Card, but once again repeated, “The EQ Bank US Savings cannot be linked to the EQ Bank Card.”

I was left wondering how the EQ Bank Card, which is not linked to the EQ US account, could access the US account information from the ATM. Devy was unable to provide a clear explanation . After 15 minutes of this frustrating interaction, I gave up.

EQ bank is amazing and their customer service matches their services. I get an agent on the line very quickly and they are happy and able to help me every time with no issues. An absolute Rip Off

An absolute Rip Off! I opened one of their USD savings accounts a couple of months ago, because they were offering 3% interest. I deposited $25,000 CAD which was converted to roughly $18,230 USD at the time. A couple of days later, out of curiosity I thought I would convert my USD back to CAD only to find out my $25,000 was now worth only $24,500 (approx.) When I asked their complaints department, they told me it was their "mark up"! There was NO disclaimer, no warning about the fact that their conversion was approximately 2% less than the posted exchange rate. ie: posted rate was $1.37 for 1 USD. EQ banks exchange was $1.35. Doesn't sound like much, but on large sums of money, it adds up. A savings account is supposed to earn money, not decrease by 2% the minute you open the account

I was shopping around for a bank…

I was shopping around for a bank account for my everyday spending & came upon EQ...
I so love the commercials Eugene & Dan Levy <3 #canadianicons
I received the card today and went to activate it but my app kept closing (my internet issue) & my account ended up getting locked so no problemo I called the number on the back & their fabulous customer service rep, Michelle walked me through it :) Fabulous customer service - she was soooo nice :)
The account was unlocked after my security quesions were answered, because my internet kept kicking me off security was alerted so for my protection they locked the account.
That is so okay with me! I want my bank to protect me like that and all you have to do is call to unlock it - fabulous feature in my eyes!
I love the $0 it costs per month lol and the money back on purchases and the interest is a no brainer! Even if it's a buck a month it's something! In today's economy every little bit helps :)

Total Incompetence

As a newcomer to Canada, I wanted to open an account at EQ Bank using my foreign passport while waiting for my Canadian ID to arrive. Customer service assured me this was possible, contingent on ID verification at Canada Post.

When I went to Canada Post, I was surprised to learn they only accept US passports for verification. EQ Bank failed to mention this beforehand. They then asked me to complete their Enhanced Verification process and provide their Security Team with my ID, a selfie, and proof of address. They supplied a supposedly secure link to upload these documents and instructed me to send the proof of address to a general email that any employee could access.

I submitted all the documents, but two days later, I received an email stating, "Hello Hussain, the documents you supplied do not match the information we have." My name is not Hussain. I contacted Customer Service again, and they informed me their Security Team had not received any documents from me and had not received the proof of address email, even though the "Hello Hussain" email was a reply to my proof of address submission. After an hour of discussion, Customer Service confirmed that the Security Team had indeed received my documents.

It appears their Security Team is either overwhelmed with documents or unable to effectively search their emails, or they may simply be ignoring messages. This does not inspire confidence in an institution entrusted with my funds.

The onboarding process has now taken two weeks, during which EQ Bank has bombarded me with repetitive emails every second day, asking me to go to Canada Post to verify my identity.

Frustrated with this process, I requested the deletion of all my previously supplied documents. Four days later, I am still waiting for their reply while receiving another set of eight "Go to Canada Post" emails. When I asked for an update on my data erasure request, they replied with, "Please provide another proof of address document."

I don't understand what's going on at EQ Bank. Their incompetence is apparent at every step. Is anyone at EQ Bank able to read English? They should invest in improving their IT systems and secure methods for handling customer documents rather than spending money on marketing and paying actors from "Schitt's Creek."

Mickey Mouse Bank

Mickey Mouse Bank. When you purchase a TFSA GIC using money from your TFSA Savings Account, a message appears saying "This will affect your TFSA contribution limit". Any simpleton knows that is incorrect, but not EQ Bank.

Very helpful and efficient

EQ Bank gives a good interest rate and is very helpful when I call. A real person picks up the phone on the 2nd or 3rd ring. I've been very happy with them.
