Beautiful Scissors, But Disappointing Performance and Support

I purchased a pair of Ernest Wright Stork scissors expecting the premium quality the brand is known for. Unfortunately they struggle to cut even worsted-weight yarn. I’ve owned other stork scissors in the past that handled this type of material without issue so this was disappointing.

When I contacted customer service the responses were few and far between with responses taking over a week At times. The response was that these scissors are “too delicate” and I should only use the thicker part of the blades or purchase a more expensive pair. This doesn’t reflect my past experience with similar scissors, and it’s not the level of support I expected from a brand at this price point.

The scissors themselves are beautiful, but they don’t perform as well as advertised, and the after-sales support was unhelpful. For anyone considering a purchase, I would suggest weighing other options.

Superb scissors: a work of art and an heirloom

Trying to find a good pair of scissors is like looking for a needle in a haystack, but finally I found a superb pair of scissors. I can't find a single fault with these: they are extra sharp, beautifully finished and a real work of art that you can pass down the generations as an heirloom. I bought the 8.25 inch dressmakers scissors.

An outstanding product forged in the craftsman tradition: a joy

I only write reviews where the product or service impresses me. It would be difficult if not impossible to put an accurate description of the quality of this product: it is simply outstanding. Having purchased a pair of tailoring/ dressmaking scissors was a delight on arrival and and continues to be . Sheffield at its roots the manufacture of high quality steel and steel fabrication, this Ernest Wright product is a worthy upholder of that craftsman tradition. The item is beautifully made and finished, balanced and polished. It is the sort of product that made Sheffield famous and on the showing here justifiably so. Delivery may take a little tim. but so does a single malt whiskey; craftsmen fashioned items such as this do not roll out of a machine; I have bough something that will last a lifetime and is of heirloom quality combined with the added joy of being able to use it. If you take your dressmaking and tailoring seriously you will appreciate the quality of this product and value it. I do.
