Terrible customer service

My flight was cancelled due to covid regulations and I called their customer care to change or refund. I was advised fastest refund option is to refund to etihad travel bank and will be done instantly on call. Hence I opted for the same. When taking the request the call center agent informed that they cant proceed due to system issue and shall forward it to back end team to process the refund and it wold take a maximum of 45 days. I had place the request in May 21 and I am writing this review in Sep 21. The request was not processed even after 45 days and I called their customer service multiple times for followup and every time they inform "We have sent reminder to concerned team", however I did not received any further update. Now its more than 3 months and still the refund is not processed. Since its too much delay in processing refund I called their customer care to cancel the refund request and change the date as I had another requirement. But I was informed that it cannot be done as the refund request is in progress. They are not processing the refund request and not allowing to change the booking either. I had to take a new ticket for my travel , how ever I did not made the mistake of booking in Ethihad this time. Now I cant reach their call center even after waiting for 30 minutes in call and I sent multiple mails to their and even to their social media team. However I am not getting any response. Its terrible customer service.

Avoid at all cost if you can

Avoid at all cost if you can. Fly with BA, Qatar Airways and Emirates.

We couldn't fly to Australia last year because of COVID; we have been trying to get home for several months now but they have QUADRUPLED their prices and ''conveniently'' only business class flights are available these days We can't even get a travel bank voucher. They are showing ZERO flexibilty and ripping off customers left right and center. I fly for work often but moving forward I will avoid it like the plague.

ETIHAD AIRWAYS HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE

I have been calling and emailing for the past 4 months. ETIHAD as a company are the worst airline I've ever tried to talk to. No help no understanding. My original flight was June 2020, they still have not issued a refund as they no longer fly to where I want to go and are keeping my money up until today and say they will continue to do so. My advise fly with anyone else during these times if you need an airline that cares about there customers.

Ticket flexibility is a marketing scam!

I purchased a business class ticket to Sydney for my family and I departing May 3rd. I purchased this on account of the flexibility you offered as regards free change and cancellations which we really needed given the current uncertainty surrounding Covid.

For family reasons I desperately need to shift my departure date out to the right, but I was completely shocked when I discovered that moving my flight to pretty much any date in the next year would require me to pay another £39,0000 which is nearly 5 times the sum of the original ticket.

Whilst I appreciate we’re living in unprecedented times this additional fee doesn’t seem to be in the spirit of your original change terms or particularly fair / ethical and in many ways makes your flexible terms sound like something of a marketing exercise.

Great Customer service

We book flights for Etihad via Opodo which was a huge mistake!!! After waiting 2 months for confirmation and booking reference from Opodo countless emails and chatting online to a stupid robot I gave up and contacted Etihad direct ! They couldn’t have been more helpful and I had my booking reference and flight tickets within 10 minutes!!! Well done I will always book direct with Etihad in future

Shameful Service

Bought return tickets Dublin - Australia for late Feb to Late March 2020.

The flights we selected weren't the ones we were given. Return leg saw us with a 20 hour stopover in Abu Dhabi. Oh well - we sucked that up.

During our trip the Covid 19 crisis escalated. As we'd booked through an agent our carrier Ethiad wouldn't deal with us directly.

Ethiad cancelled our flights home from Australia on the day of departure 24th March - we had booked in on-line had boarding passes and were at the airport

On 26 March we received an e-mail from the travel agent offering us the option of either "Save trip for Later" OR "Change the trip". This was not an awful lot of use when stranded in Australia - particularly as Ethiad had grounded it's fleet and foreigners were precluded from transiting through Abu Dhabi.

We eventually sourced alternative flights home from Qatar Airlines - at an exorbitant cost. The alternative would have been a protracted stay in Australia at our own cost.

Just to add insult to injury - we also purchased premium seats (in economy) through Ethiad. That was more money wasted.

Finally up to an hour before they cancelled our flights they were e-mailing us trying to sell further up-grades.

We fully anticipate that Ethiad will attempt to excuse their shameful behavior as a function of an Abu Dhabi Government directive which barred anyone except UAE passport/visa holders from entering or transiting through Abu Dhabi from 22nd March. The Government of Abu Dhabi owns Ethiad.

BTW Abu Dhabi is the wealthiest of the UAE states.

This is not going to end here.....

Customer services are good

Customer services are good, they follow up complaints. I have a ling email telling me that the charge for errors in names on bookings - you get three characters free. So that my £77 payment is now worse value as instead of the four characters of the name i had to have deleted i paid £77 for one character to be deleted. Yet they spend loads of time sending hundreds of characters to justify this decision as in their rules and fair to everyone. What might be fairer is a penny per character or even 10p per character. £77 per character is outrageous

Been charged twice!!!!

They charged us twice the amount of the flight! $7000 .. leaving us with an overdrawn account.
We are trying to fight this but it is apparently hard to prove it.
Very bad situation, and this is should be illegal.
Called the bank and they said we can’t do anything about. Even worse.
Why are they allow to do this?

I have been flying with Ethiad for about 10 years now.
Always excellent service and just i general, as we say in Germany: The yellow of the egg.
Generally speaking, their business class is the most comfortable i have come across those many years. Excellent service, good food and mostly on time!!

Buy a plane ticket and pay extra TO SIT ???

IT IS really really poor firm to advertise a flight ticket for $797 from Sydney to Copenhagen, as when I booked it, I have to select a seat, and then there were ZERO FREE seats to pick from, ONLY paid seats, ranging from $31 to $221 - so you buy a ticket for the bus and is expected to stand, UNLESS you pay more to get a seat??? THAT is a HUGE scam. Last time. Ever....CHEATS.

No customer service

I flew with Emirates many years. After hearing my sister wasnt happy with the service I was curious as an Airline of UAE Ethiad wouldnt allow bad publicity I thought, well I was wrong.

We flew from Munich to Bangkok and back.
I can assure you that quality of planes are low. Screens are smaller planes arw older *compared to Emirates and Singapore service staff needs training. On a 6 hour flight they dont bring enough water. When i have asked 2 glasses of water and a glass of coke for me and my wife flight attendant told me she is only allowed to give 1 drink per person. I have told her that i am thirsty now I will have a coke with my food which you guys serve now. She served me hesitantly.

Won't fly with them again

Won't fly with them again, worst customer experience I have ever experienced, after complaining they would not even acknowledge what had happened to me. I assume this was because it would have made them feel like they should do something to compensate me.

Instead they just threw their books of terms and regulations at me, rather than showing some humanity, I would have settled with an acknowledgment of what had happened but did not even get that.

Will avoid in the future, for sure.

If anybody from Ethiad sees this, don't message me I am not interested anymore unless you are willing to compensate for the £60 taxi I had to take due to me not being allowed on your free bus shuttle that I was promised to be allowed on back from Dubai to Abu Dhabi airport by an Ethiad staff member.

I was even told by the Ethiad staff member, in Dubai Travel Mall, I would not be able to go back to Abu Dhabi, on their FREE shuttle bus service, even if there were available seats, because I had not booked 24 hours in advance, EVEN THOUGH I had been told by an Ethiad staff member, in Abu Dhabi, before I took the bus from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, that I would be able to go back, she was not interested that I was now stuck with little money to get back to the airport the next day, it was simply 'not their problem', no it was not, it was my problem, due to another Ethiad staff member, and you did nothing about it! Great, they should give you a promotion.

Come on guys, an Ethiad stafff member tells you you can get a free bus shuttle from Abu Dhabi to Dubai, and also back in the morning, without needing to book in advance, then on arrival in Dubai, another Ethiad staff member hears the story and still declines you a free ride back on the free shuttle service EVEN IF THERE WOULD BE AVAILABLE SEATS.

What's that all about? Seriously??

Etihad is an airline that cheats your guests. Since January 2015 I try to get my compensation, sent more than 30 emails, even to the CEO, twice with the servicehotline and everything without result. This is no longer a mistake, but business policy. An airline which makes four flights twice, the luggage late delivery and not to his responsibility has in my eyes no respect deserved. It tries to ignore the legitimate complaints and damages of the customer and to starve them. The customer will give up once thought the managers there probably. I can not recommend this airline to anyone.
My story of suffering can be found on the attached copies of my emails. These are intended as proof of this incredible behavior.

With two flights from Frankfurt to Manila my luggage arrived late, once I had to wait three days, the second time a day.

From an international airline with its reputation I did not expect such behavior. Maybe it's only to the employees in Manila.
I am frequent flying, commute frequently between Asia and Germany and was always satisfied with Etihad Airways and have it also recommended.

My complaint I have written on 14 June 2016 already on their airline and to her colleague woman Jentsch of the hotline in England I Fürge at in connection with my writing.

I ask them to stop this tragedy and me finally to transfer my compensation.

I thank you expressly for the nice and kompentente conversation that me a little returned my confidence in Etihad Airways.
I am scuba divers, have in the Philippines, a long-time friend and fly 2 to 3 times per year to the Philillipinen. Because of the new aircraft, the good service and of course on the good prices I've Ethihad Airways preferred. But my two recent trips with Ethihad Airways were a tragedy.
About history
I am on 01 January 2015, the flight EY 8 to Abu Dhabi and from there by flight EY 428 flown to Manila. Upon arrival in Manila I realized that, although one of my luggage had arrived, the most important piece of luggage, my diving equipment without which I can not dive, which one of the main reasons why I take this long journey for me.
After I complained to the office for missing baggage near the baggage claim area, I was referred to the Office of Etihad in Manila airport. I spoke there personally with Mr. Oliver Lucena, speaking branch manager of Etihad at Manila airport. He said do it in all very sorry, but unfortunately can not help anybody, he could me Forward my luggage Mindoro, unfortunately would last a minimum of one week or more. Because of this I had three! stay days in Manila, my transfer to Batangas I had to pay, Furthemore two trips w ith the taxi to the airport. These three failed dive days come the pre-booked and paid for were. from hygieninischen reasons I use only my personal diving equipment. a loss of about 600 euros, it is me arose, I unfortunately can not prove that I have no receipts of taxis, the dive performance has provided but I could not use, the price of three nights in Manila, several phone calls etc ,
Mr. Oliver Lucena offered me me with 120, - to compensate dollars. I wanted my peace, so I said, but he had no cash. The last Kundenn he practically paid to the coffee fund.
My Filipino friend phoned him three times a day and ask for my luggage, on the third day they had to say neither her nor my name, it was now known what it was
He offered me the return flight stop by, then he would give me 100% pay 120 dollars. The return flight I had no time to visit the office Manila, on a entsprendes EMail from Germany was no response.
On 04 May 2015 I have to give me again decided my confidence Ethihad Airays and flew to Manila, everything was ok.
On August 02, 2015 I again flew with Etihad Airways flight EY 6023 and EY Flight 428 to Manila and again is exactly daselbe luggage did not arrive. My dive equipment was not returned. I complained again bein Counter for lost luggage, was in the office of Etihad, but there was no one to help me and then I bein Counter for lost luggage found that my luggage with the flight eintrofft next morning. I drove to the airport again, have put myself next to the luggage belt and happiness variably legally my diving equipment was there. Unnecessary costs one night in Manila, 2 taxi rides to Flughhafen a lost diving and ordered transfer to Batangas and a totally shattered confidence to Etihad Airways.
After I was back in Germany, I have changed several emails with Mr. Oliver Lucena. He wanted to see receipts, which I unfortunately can not boast. I reluctantly agrees me that I, an amount of 240, - US will be transferred to my account. I told him my bank account in Germany, the IBAN and BIC and since then repeatedly reminds him, partly that I am complaining in solid form at the headquarters, but a cash receipt I could not find.
Now that 18 months elapsed I have enough of it to make a fool of me and have contacted their office in Manchester where I have achieved fortunately woman Jensch.
I also want to stress here that I. In my last two flights, in spite of a higher price, the Turkish Airlines have preferred My diving gear has arrived. No hassle, no stress, no ignoring EMail, no unnecessary costs for accommodation in Manila, no pay for booked and not genomme in claim Tranfser, no lost days of diving, the paid but not used are konnten.Schaden about 200 Euro. As it should be. I have previously with other divers Etihad Airways recommended because of the diving luggage, 1o kg Extra are a decisive argument when the equipment already weighs 23 kilos. now I could not do because of my bad experiences. And during a dive trip is a lot of time to exchange experiences
I am also of the opinion that for all the trouble, lost time, lost recovery, lost money, etc. to me besides the $ 240 possibly entitled some bonus miles. I would ask for your favorable consideration. I am a patient person and I have proved here, but now it is enough. My patience border is completely achieved.
I now hope for an early and final processing.

Terrible food

The flight was good, and generally good interaction but the food seriously needs to be sorted out.

I asked for vegetarian in my flight from
Delhi to Abu Dabi, and I got, I'm not joking, just a bagget breath with two
Slices of cheese with NOTHING else more, haha the worst sandwich ever. Couldn't believe so I took a pic, shame I can't share.

And then latter for break fast I got given banana cake for breakfast with it was tasty, but came with more bread and another cochocolate muffin.
I hope I don't need to point out how poorly designed menu that is. Is not the cheapest airline so this was very very disappointing.

I didn't get and upset tommy in India! (Which I found hard to believe) but the ethicad food did make me ill. So please Ethicad do something about it, otherwise I'll start avoiding you.

The worst airline in the world

Absolutely pathetic !!!!

We flew Business class and it was like being on a bus In a third world country.

Poor service.

I was traveling with my wife and they even tried placing us in seats in different rows on one flight.

The babies cots are located in the back wall of the last row of business class so we spent one entire flight listening to them scream for 13 hours. This is just ludicrous and pathetic, the Ethiad management do not have a clue.

Ground staff where rude and uncaring.

The food was horrible, more like what is found on Virgin Airlines Domestic flights in Australia.

The lounges where more suited for domestic services with poor faculties. To get a shower took 2 hours in Abudahbi, therefore I did not get one as we where only on the ground for 3 hours.

The second flight from Abudahbi was on a plane that was in desperate need of retirement, old lumpy seats with no support.

The business class seats where extremely narrow that might suit actresses and models. ( Advert with Nicole Kidman ) but not a 6ft 4inch businessman who likes being fit.

I would not fly them again if you paid me, beware !!! They are cheaper for a reason.

Just don't take the chance, fly with Emirates...... so so so much better.

Fight back to ensure we as consumers get what we pay for. Only fly with people who want our business.

First class service

My friends and I recently booked economy flights with Ethiad from Gatwick to Thailand and were pleasantly suprised with the quality of service we received for the price paid.
The site is very useful to keep up to date or make changes to your booking, the flights themselves were comfortable and the staff happy to help.
I would recommend to friends.
