While we don't verify specific claims because reviewers' opinions are their own, we may label reviews as "Verified" when we can confirm a business interaction took place. Read more

The Upper Etowah River Alliance (UERA) is a nonprofit based in Canton, Georgia. Since 1998 we've worked to protect the clean water, wildlife, and outdoor recreation of the Upper Etowah River watershed for the people who live here now and for future generations. The Etowah starts in the mountains near Dahlonega and flows 98 miles to Lake Allatoona. Its upper watershed covers 610 square miles across Lumpkin, Dawson, Pickens, Forsyth, and Cherokee counties and is fed by more than 100 tributaries. It's one of the most biologically rich river systems in the world, home to rare fish and crayfish found nowhere else. Many of our neighbors also get their drinking water from it. Here's what we do: Education: We teach students, parents, landowners, and local leaders how the watershed works, and we give them practical tools to protect and restore it. Monitoring: Through water testing and data collection, we track the river's health and push for environmental accountability. Cleanups: Volunteers help us pull trash out of local rivers and streams. Community events: Guided hikes and outdoor events help people get to know the river up close. None of this happens alone. Our work depends on residents, local governments, educators, businesses, and community partners who care about the Etowah. UERA holds Candid's Platinum Seal of Transparency for 2026.
