I ordered a car online from EuropCar through DiscoverCars

I ordered a car online from EuropCar in Quito through DiscoverCars website. The payment went through no problem but on the day I was to collect the car, EuropCar sent me a txt message saying no car was available. Besides my family and I being left stranded without a car, they have refused to give me my refund. They just tell me the agency I ordered through needs to contact them to confirm no car was available before they can refund me. When I contacted the agency (DiscoverCars) to tell them this, they told me they had already contacted EuropCar. Two companies pretending to be incompetent so they don't have to refund. This is a scam they have going, each of them saying the other company has to contact them first. Scumbags

THEY ARE SUCH SCAMMERS

THEY ARE SUCH SCAMMERS. I RENTED A CAR FOR QUITO USING AMERICA AIRLINES' WEBSITE WHICH HAS AN AGREEMENT WITH EUROPCAR. THE RENTAL INCLUDED FULL INSURANCE. WHEN PICKING UP IN THE EUROPCAR´S COUNTER IN QUITO AIRPORT THEY PUSHED ME TO TAKE THEIR INSURANCE, ALMOST THE SAME VALUE AS THE RESERVATION!! THEY TOLD ME THAT THE INSURANCE I PURCHASED IS USELESS IN ECUADOR AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE ONE WITH THEM IF NOT, THEY WONT RELEASE THE CAR........I THESE SCAMMERS RUINED MY HOLIDAY.
TO ALL PEOPLE AVOID RENTING WITH THEM.

Very dishonest staff and poor service

Very dishonest staff and poor service. Despite booking direct with Europcar and having Collision Damage Waiver included, the staff insisted I needed to purchase extra insurance for $25 per day. I explained over and over again, even using Google Translate that I did not want or need the insurance as it was included but I also have travel insurance that covers it. But the staff insisted it was compulsory and wouldn't complete the rental agreement without me paying.
The car was in terrible condition, every panel was damaged.
Upon return the helpful rental agent informed me it was not compulsory for the insurance and said his colleague must 'have got confused'
I'm still chasing a refund which is proving difficult

I SHOULD HAVE READ TRUSPILOT REWIES…

I SHOULD HAVE READ TRUSPILOT REWIES BEFORE RENTING WITH EUROPCAR.....NOW I KNOW WHY THEY HAVE 2.5/5.....THEY ARE SUCH SCAMMERS. I RENTED A CAR FOR GUAYAQUIL USING A THIRD PARTY WEBSITE THAT HAS AN AGREEMENT WITH EUROPCAR. THE RENTAL INCLUDED ALL INSURANCES BUT, WHEN PICKING UP IN THE EUROPCAR´S COUNTER IN GUAYAQUIL AIRPORT THEY PUSHED ME TO TAKE MORE INSURANCES, ALMOST THE SAME VALUE AS THE RESERVATION!! THEY TOLD ME THAT THE INSURANCE I PURCHASED IS USELESS IN ECUADOR AND THAT I SHOULD TAKE ONE WITH THEM IF NOT, THEY WONT RELEASE THE CAR........I INSISTENTLY ASKED IF THE INSURANCE THEY WANTED TO SELL ME WAS MANDATORY BUT THE ONLY ANSWER THEY GAVE ME WAS "YOU HAVE TO TAKE OUR INSURANCE". THEY NEVER TOLD ME IT IS MANDATORY....THESE SCAMMERS RUINED MY VACATIONES..THIS IS NOT OVER

Worst rental company in Quito

Worst rental company in Quito. I hired from booking and ended up paying for an extra insurance I didn't need, they didn't gave me back my deposit until I complained to the bank. This is a scam. Don't go. I don't understand how an international company doesn't take better care of its reputation. I won't use Europcar anywhere in the world now and advise my friends not to.

In 25 years of travel

In 25 years of travel, this is, by far, the worst experience I have ever had renting a car.

Rented for 5 days. On collection till I had to, by law, take out at least basic insurance. I had insurance on my credit card and from a third party. Forced to take it out.

Then, I wrote to complain. I was told by email that I had agreed to a suggested increase of insurance. That was a lie. The 200 insurance decreased my liability from 1750 to 1500, I had 3000 if liability insurance on my card.

Once I replied that this was a lie, I never heard from customer service again. No replies. The telephone number they have is for reservations only, they will not help at all and hung up 6 times. I asked for the name of who I spoke to, they will not answer.

The office I rented from won't help, they say their manager will call, I asked for their name..sorry I will not give you his name...

I spoke to one person who said they'd help, no contact again after that, called his office number today and voicemail. Called from a friends phone, it's answered, "nobody called Stephen works here".

This is set up as a fraud. Europcar.ec is a fraudulent company. Do not use this company.
