My daughter didnt enjoy it

My daughter didnt like it. As per previous zero stars review - kids had to eat outside to not make a mess indoor. My daughter said that kids are left alone most of the day with loads of photos taken during rear activities. Won't be returning.

Highly recommend …

We often use Evolution club during the holidays. It is extremely organised, well run and my son loves all the activities. Signing in and out is smooth and the staff are very welcoming. There are many weather relevant, various activities available. And indoor crafts to do. We highly recommend this club.

ZERO STARS. STAY AWAY

I would give this place zero stars to be honest but had to give at least one to write the review.
My six years old son broke his elbow in the camp at the beginning of summer holiday this year (I understand that accident can happen anywhere BUT) they left him crying for over an hour before contacting me! I was told over the phone that my son had an accident (and what happened) over an hour ago and they can't calm him down, i was then asked what do i want to do?! I obviously jumped in the car and went to get him.
When i got there they then told me what's happened again and tried to convince me that my son is ok as nothing is swollen so nothing can be broken. The women was taking to my son trying to convince him he is making it up! Thankfully I followed my instinct and took him to hospital.
His elbow was broken in few places. He ended up with cast for the whole summer holiday.
I didn't receive accident form until 5 days later and I only got it as I chased for it 4 times. Version of events on the accident form was different to what actually happened and what I was initialy told. When I received initial phone call I was told that my son slipped from the wet trim trail and fall on the ground (it was raining that day), I was then told the same by one of the managers and my son also confirmed it but the accident form stated that he slipped while playing on the ground. The company is clearly covering their own back and staff here by lying. There were only 2 people looking after about 30 children and non of them two seen my son falling as they told me they haven't seen him when he slipped. There were only two people when I arrived (both inside) no supervisor outside and plenty of kids playing outside.
On top of that I have never received a single phone call asking if my son was OK. When I pointed all this on the email to the owner he messaged me back saying hope my son is OK. BUT that was too late. In my opinion it's a curtesy to follow up to check if the child is OK especially if something happened while you were paid to watch a child. I paid for my both children to be looked after and unfortunately there was no supervision offered at all. All looks great on photos but reality in this place is a completely different story.
I was also told by my kids and other children also confirmed this that kids are not allowed to eat inside and have to eat outside (even in the rain and they are also allowed to sit on the trim trail while eating their lunch there) as supervisors told them that they will make too much mess inside and they can't be bother cleaning it afterwards!!!??? Shocking! I made the owner aware of this but he has never comment on it!
I would not recommend this place to any child. I made Local Authority aware of this accident also and no surprise that they have not been notified about this by the club which they should be made aware of every single accident that ended up with a broken bone etc.

Reply from Evolution Sports Education

Hi Justyna,

Thank you for your feedback.

Given the serious nature of this review, I wanted to address your comments in detail.

First, I am very sorry your son broke his elbow, myself and everyone at Evolution wish him a speedy recovery.

I spoke with you via telephone on the evening of the incident and expressed my concern and well wishes for him. You then emailed with your concerns, and received a very detailed and full reply about each of these points:

Supervision:
In regards to our supervision, our staff are attentive and watch the children at all times. Our ratios are above the minimum requirements and local authority guidelines for holiday clubs. Unfortunately, accidents do happen. At the time of the accident, staff were on duty outside and watching all the children. Your son came straight over to a staff member. Your son told this staff member that he was not on the equipment but was running around it on the ground and had fallen over and hurt his arm.

Risk Assessment:
We risk assess the school grounds when setting up the camp, as we do before every camp and at every venue. We deem the trim trail an area of moderate risk when damp, but safe to use. This is the same risk assessment that the school themselves follow. The children are advised to take extra care on the outdoor equipment when slightly damp as they were advised to do on the day in question. In addition, having checked the weather for the day, it rained in the morning and stopped at 10.30am. As an extra precaution the children were not allowed to use the equipment until 2.30pm, when it was almost completely dry. This incident occurred around 2.45pm. This piece of equipment is also well known to many of the children at the camp who attend the school, including your son. As above, it was my understanding that your son was running around on the playground/play area around the trim trail. It is very unlucky and unfortunate that a fall from running on the ground has resulted in a broken arm.

Care of your son after the incident:
The staff administered the correct first aid, applying an ice pack, and helping him calm down. They also did the correct checks to assess for a serious injury, which include being asked to make a fist, wiggle your fingers and move your arm. Beyond this, we are not medically trained to diagnose a broken arm or elbow. At first, my staff believed that he had fallen and bruised or badly knocked his funny bone. There were no visible bones nor bends in Jacob's arm that would suggest to a non medically trained person that it was definitely broken rather than bruised. There was no blood. The plan was to reassess after the ice pack had had time to take effect and then take a decision as to whether further medical attention or assessment may be needed. Initially, your son had stopped crying but said his arm was still sore. After some time with the ice pack, the staff realised that Jacob's pain was not getting any better or easing up. The movement checks were carried out three times. His arm had also started to swell which would potentially indicate a more serious problem. They then called you. This is in accordance with our first aid protocols. You did raise at the time that you were unhappy we had not provided him with pain relief, however we are not allowed to do so unless this medication has been previously signed in by a parent.

Accident form:
An accident form was filled out, however my staff failed to provide you with a copy when you arrived. I do apologise for this oversight and did so at the time. I understand from my staff that your son was rightly very upset and your primary concern was taking him home / to seek medical attention and not on filling out paperwork. I explained to you that the school was locked over the weekend, however the caretaker did open up for us to retrieve the accident form, which I sent you Monday morning.

Lunchtimes at camp:
The children often eat outside in an informal picnic style as the holiday camp is a different environment and the children enjoy it. They do not eat outside if raining.

Follow up:
The staff called you and you attended to collect him within 45 minutes of the incident. I then called you later that evening to check on his wellbeing. The following day, you sent an email with concerns, which I replied to the same day. You replied later that evening and I then invited you for an in person meeting if you wished to raise further concerns. You did not reply.

I made the Local Authority and headteacher of the school aware of the incident. The Local Authority also confirmed you had been in touch. They checked the staff ratios and our risk assessment document, both of which were satisfactory and up to the correct standard.

I also offered for your son to continue to attend camp and that I would be prepared to offer adjustments to activities given his cast. You declined this offer and requested a full refund for the rest of your bookings, which was processed immediately.

Great experience over multiple school holidays.....

Our daughter has attended multiple weeks through this summer and has been to camps during school holidays in the last two years. The experience has always been positive and our daughter has always had an amazing time with the opportunity to try lots of different and sometimes new activities. The new booking system is quick and easy to use and the clubs are great value for money. An "even better if" would be for Evolution Sports Education to register to accept childcare vouchers.

So far so good

So far so good. The website needs work and the company wasn't easy to find even though evolution Sports is running from the local school. All my queries were answered very quickly via TXT even on a Sunday. Top marks for costumer service. Hopefully the rest will follow suit and we can use them every year..
