I can't help but roll my eyes at these 5 star reviews mentioning the same name....not fishy at all....anyhow, this is yet another "legal" but shady business, a way to charge people a ridiculous amount for something you could do yourself and pay MUCH less. They will avoid telling you this and make it seem like you have to pay them their ridiculous fees or lose your package. It is VERY easy to do this on your own and save yourself a good chunk of money too. Sadly I learned this only after I paid the ridiculous $37.

THIS IS A SCAM

THIS IS A SCAM
I got an email notice about unpaid duties for a parcel to be delivered by Canada Post. I called Canada Post to confirm that they said any duties for parcel delivered by them would be collected either at the door on delivery or at a Post Office when the parcel is picked up.
Don't fall for this!!

SCAM - don’t fall victim

This is a fraudulent company who falsely represents a third party Customs Broker for Canada Post collecting fees and duties. This is a scam as Canada Post does not rely on any third party broker. All fees or duties for a parcel is always collected upon delivery either at your door through the letter carrier or post depot upon collecting your parcel. Do not give out any of your personal information to this scam and block all of their emails. This information was confirmed by contacting Canada Post. Glad I called.

How to make money using Duties Tax Fees... 101

This compagny is just making money on the fact that they are complicating the process of receiving your package.

Would be more efficient to just pay the fee at the post office for the same price or even less. Everything else they are saying are pretty little lies... The business is all about intercepting every DDU packages using Citilogistics.ca services

Funny to see all these 5 stars comments about how great this service is... who really have the time to go and post good reviews here when their primary argument is about "saving their precious time" because they have better thing to do... FAKE... FAKE... FAKE...

I do not trust this company at all

I do not trust this company at all. Every time I have to pay import duties I go through Canada Post. And the lady I spoke to told me that she has been dealing with the same retailer I purchased from for over five years, on the same token I have been purchasing from the same retailer for about five years and never ever have I paid a single extra penny in duties. What changed?

Hi Oliver,
Your retailer has opted to ship to Canada with Duties & Taxes unpaid. Here is what your retailer has clearly posted on the shipping page of their website.

Duties & Customs

It is a legal requirement for Hawes & Curtis to declare the actual value of goods (excluding shipping charges) contained in all packages sent abroad.

Orders may be subject to import duties and taxes imposed by the destination country; any additional charges for customs clearance must be paid by the customer.

Customs policies vary from country to country, so you should contact your local customs office if you require more specific information. Please note that when ordering online you must comply with all laws and regulations of the country in which you are receiving the goods.

Also please refer to the CBSA website regarding online shopping from abroad:
https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/courier/lvs-efv/prsn-eng.html

All items brought into Canada must be properly declared.

This will allow border services officers to determine what duties and/or taxes you must pay on the goods. Some goods are exempt from duty and/or taxes:

Certain imported goods transported by courier having a value for duty not exceeding Can$20, 40 or 150 (conditions apply), Items you send home while you are abroad.
If your goods are for personal use:
your courier company may account for the shipment for you; or you can choose to self-account for your goods. As a consumer, you should not assume that an online purchase from a retailer with a web address ending in “.ca” means that the goods are located within Canada. Purchases from online retailers may require the vendor to ship the goods from another country in which case, the item may be subject to duties and/or taxes as well as administrative fees (fees assessed by a company who may handle the Customs declaration on your behalf).

If you have additional concerns, please contact us or your retailer.

Amazing customer service!

I loved the service!! I had a package waiting at their facility as I had to pay import charges and due to my troubling circumstances I could not pay the charges in the 30 day grace period they give you to pay the charges. I tried paying after the time period, which I had not known of, and it said that my parcel was expired and was going to be shipped back to the sender. I was very stressed and anxious about the whole situation so I emailed customer service and they were so kind and considerate and were able to help me pay the charges as they still had my package on hand. Thanks to the customer service I will still be receiving my package!! Great service 5/5 stars :))

Awesome help

I spoke to the same person twice about my parcel and both times were awesome.
I received a receipt from EZ clear because Beauty Bay mistakenly put the original prices on the order I paid sale prices for, so my order total was no longer labelled duty free.
She was soooo helpful, understanding, friendly, gave me great advice and put so much effort into helping me (even speaking to others). I am relieved that all was so smoothly and easily resolved (at least on my end:). I can’t say enough!

Maricel is GODSEND

Had a package cleared by EZClear. Wanted to voluntarily clear the package myself as I normally do with packages coming in. Maricel helped me through this process and sent me the documents required. I went to the CBSA office and experienced hell, the officers there are not professional and lack any sense of customer service skills. While there I received assistance via phone from EZClear - Maricel NOT anyone from CBSA. Ultimately, I decided to continue to clear with EZClear rather than the useless people at CBSA. Maricel assisted me with the CBSA complaint process and proceeded to assist me with obtaining my package from EZClear. If you’re thinking of paying duties + taxes with CBSA rather than the duties + taxes + fees from EZClear, just don’t bother. CBSA officers are actually terrible and it is NOT worth the headache!!!! Maricel is so knowledgeable and cares about her customers, she literally answered all my questions / concerns with ease and let me know she was available via phone / email. She is also an expert and deescalation as I called quite upset when I was at CBSA and she remained calm and assisted with ease. She is so amazing and is the only reason I trust EZClear to be honest! 5 stars only because of Maricel.

This Company Is Trash

I ordered a regular sized eyeshadow palette from US. Which I now recieved an email about having to pay $20 in fees when my package only cost $37. I have ordered eyeshadow palettes that weigh so much more than this one and did not have to pay fees. When I looked at the fees there was a ridiculous amount of unnecessary fees. I am okay with paying duty on my package these fees are outrageous. After doing research on this company I have learned that this is a common habit of these guys. Do not use this company.

Hi Steph,
Your order was shipped to Canada from the UK not the US. Your review pertains to Duties & Taxes plus our admin fee. We are not responsible for setting the duties and taxes, these fees are set by the Canada Border Security Agency CBSA.

Our fee is $8.99 for clearing this parcel, and if you feel that $8.99 is too high, we can assist you with a Self Assement directly with CBSA, all you need to do is contact us. Thsi will save you the $8.99

According to the Terms & Condition of Trustpilot you cannot hold a service provider accountable for government taxes.

Beauty Bay specifically mentions that import fees may apply https://www.beautybay.com/help/ - All international orders sent to countries outside the EU MAY be subject to import charges.

Beauty Bay accepts no responsibility for these, please check with your customs office before ordering if you are unsure as to whether this applies to your country.

Canada Customs CBSA also specifically speaks to import charges. https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/courier/lvs-efv/prsn-eng.html -- G

Purchases from online retailers may require the vendor to ship the goods from another country in which case, the item may be subject to duties and/or taxes as well as administrative fees (fees assessed by a company who may handle the Customs declaration on your behalf).

If you have additional questions regarding your order, please contact us at support@ezclear.ca

Be advised.

Although it is true you can request to clear your goods yourself from CBSA, what they fail to mention in this blog is they make that process as difficult as possible. However you are advised up front this will delay your parcel delivery by weeks.
